This comparison of the different lodging and food options is by FAR the best video on YT. Thank you so much. It will be much more affordable than I realized. How much were the hotels? What was the price of your fish and chips? How much for a round of golf ⛳️

Glad you enjoyed the video! Not sure about the hotels, but the food at the restaurants was about 7-15 USD per person and the round of golf (with club rental) was 56 USD (This may have changed since they were updating the course at the time).

It looks like you rented a car Hoesdpruit airport Eastgate. How long was the drive from nThambo to Lower Sabi rest camp? Was it drivable in a day?

So we actually rented a car from Nelspruit Airport (Nelspruit NLP Kruger Mpumalanga Intl). It was 2 hours to get to the Crocodile Bridge Gate. Because of the lower speed limit and that you will inevitably stop to see animals once you are in the park, it took another 2 hours to get to Lower Sabie Rest camp from the gate. It also took a little bit of time to purchase the park ticket at the Crocodile Gate. Very doable in a day, but be sure to plan it out so you have plenty of time to beat sunset. For Lower Sabie to nThambo, it's probably doable in a day, but you should start early. Whatever google maps gives for time, I'd double it for all the parts within the park, particularly for all the animal stops.

I don't drive and want to save money BUT my question is: besides being fed, would I be missing anything staying at a public rest camp and then booking day drives as opposed to staying with a traditional company who has their own lodging and feeds and drives me for several days? Are the tours as good? The DIY sounds complex. Is it comperable? And if not, any budget companies can you recommend? I'm thinking 4 nights for under 900 but I'm flexible

Day drives are great, the rangers know where to look for the animals, you won’t miss out!

Excellent ! I.don t want to spend more than 2500 for a week. Flight included from France. I want to discover safari by my own and rent a car. Tent camping will be fine. Thank you for your very informative videos!😊

My recommendation: 3 nights in Kruger, staying at either of Sabi, Letaba, Olifants or Mopani, and then 2 nights at Tshukudu which is a private reserve 5km outside the small town of Hoedspruit and only about 40km from the Kruger Orpen gate.

We visited in November from 11/15-11/20. The babies were a complete surprise for us, and made the trip so much better!

The private reserve camp was Nthambo. We planned out the rest of the trip on our own.

Hey, really nice video! Now it’s even harder to decide if we gonna travel on budget or make a luxury holiday (both seems to be fun). I have two questions and maybe you have an answer for this: 1. For how long do we need to stay to get a good experience? Is it like 3-5days or do we need more time (e.g., because we need the time to see all the animals). 2. Have there been any tarantula sights in the bungalows or accommodations in general? My girl has a little phobia so I try to avoid unnecessary meetings 😅

A week is probably the best time or more if you want a good chance of seeing the best animals and travelling across different camps and areas through different terrain e.g. berg en dal for leopards or malelane for rhinos, and it’s always possible to see spiders in accommodation but unlikely and probably wouldn’t be a tarantula if you did see a spider more likely a daddy long legs if anything

Do we have to book in advance for a guided tour at Public Safari Camp: Lower Sabie or they are available

Question! First off, incredible video - this is the exact type of video I’ve been searching for!! Now, for the more affordable option of, Public Safari Camp: Lower Sabie, You mentioned that there could be up to 20 people on their safaris that they take you on. Is this always the case? They offer guided safaris at dawn/darker hours of the day, and do they offer guided safaris during the day?
@Johnboyce-k2k
@Johnboyce-k2k Ай бұрын
Not always twenty depends on when you go but that would be the maximum and there are safaris during the day as well but if you go in summer during the day is usually a worse time to see predators and other animals due to it being so hot they aren’t very active, the best time to see predators hunting or marking territory etc would be at dawn and early morning as it is cool enough for them to be active and light enough to see as sometimes at dusk and night drives it is a bit dark
