Hey Kruggsmash, a quick tip to make dwarves stop hauling whatever they're holding when they're heading to an emergency burrow. The dwarves will drop whatever they're holding once you disable the alert. So all you need to do is disable and then re-enable the alert. For anyone interested: I only managed to figure that out after I desperately needed a dwarf to stop hauling a wounded dwarf who was infected with a werecurse (and about to turn soon) right into the fortress. Figured it out just in time ... to make the hauler drop him in the middle of the entrance hall. Suffice it to say that that ended in lots of fun.

As always, another wonderful episode. Just an idea; to ensure that all the trash from the siege is washed away, have you considered turning the maze into a twisty, turny, single-file walkway, with gaps on both sides? That way, when the water rushes down, the invaders will be pushed off of the walkway, down into the gaps, and be flushed away to whatever garbage collection room you want to create.

Hmm, making your defences entirely trap based got me thinking. It might be interesting to try and make a “hermit” fort where you try and get by with as few migrants as possible, by automating as much as possible! Going full on mechanization, sort of like those steampunk dwarven cities from Skyrim? Rigging up windmills and water wheels to power a massive series of traps and contraptions, and using tamed animals to help automate a bunch of stuff for your dwarves as well! Water flood pumps to flush corpses instead of having the dwarfs move them, maybe using water pumps to make something like one of those pneumatic tube networks to transport resources instead of having dwarves haul them, lava pumps to melt attackers, drawbridges everywhere to passively restrict traffic and funnel attackers, minecarts to transport resources and goods around to keep hauling to a minimum, carefully placed pressure plates to automate systems so you don’t need dwarves to pull levers to activate the contraptions, bee hives as a relatively easy way of accumulating resources passively, maybe something like the fishing trap from the last short fort to have a semi-automatic way of catching food? There are so many possibilities it boggles the mind! Were I better at the game I’m sure I could come up with a ton of other things too!

Minecart based traps are way more violent and entertaining. To make a shotgun, fill a minecart with heavy / sharp items and have it gain lots of speed via ramps / impulse ramps until it abruptly hits a track stop. Also just having a minecart hitting something by itself is very violent and entertaining. And if you really want to get creative, it is also possible to shoot magma at invaders via minecarts.

Ooh, a new short fort! And another trap one as well, I'll admit I was immediately reminded of Gomathzon when you said this was gonna be a drowning trap. But good on ya for adapting it to the new stress system and how much it's affected fortress stability. Hopefully that works out better in the long run, even though you can't get the goblinite from the drains this way. Also, loved the expressions on the goblins in this episode, it was hilarious to see and they keep getting better and better. All the expressions on everyone were. The armor was very well done too. And the element of the name being of the signature trap rather than the fortress itself was also very nice, very immersive. In fact the symbols were very on point this episode too. Just excellent work man, keep it up! Looking forward to the next episode of this, or if you choose to do yet another short fort. Hope you and everyone has a great week in the meantime!

Lava is more like stomach acid than water and it leaves nothing behind except yummy iron goblinite. There's no reason to pump lava all the way up there of course, make invaders jog down into the depths, or alternately, just drop them straight down a massive pit. If you mine out up/down stairs, falling goblins will fall through them as though they're thin air, which can make a big pit project easier, though up/down stairs can cause lots of lag.

Really love short forts. My first trap is usually a pit with spikes at the bottom. A bit of water to encourage them in and you're set. It doesn't tank the cpu as much and you have the invaders' junk to sell / give away
