Houseshoes said in one of his recent twitch streams that back in ‘96 Q-Tip once played him a song with Mobb Deep, Tribe, and Busta Rhymes and they used this exact beat for that track. It was supposed to end up on Hell On Earth but for whatever reason it ended up being vaulted. Insane

One of the most frustrating feelings in sampling is just that: when you cannot conquer a sample no matter how hard you try. It makes you feel like less of a man lol. Trust me I've been there.

That's Dilla for you. His ear was off in a great way. I remember T3 from Slum saying how he didn't like using a metronome and would just go off of feel. I think the particular track he was talking about was "Get Dis Money". The tempo is slightly off on that track but it's one of his best imo.

A diverse perspective gives me clearance/ im able to discern minus the appearance. when you start talkin im good by the ear/ i can trace your tone of voice back to your fears. i can dig deep all up in your emotion sort to speak/ your mood is all relaxed by a simple tweak. there is no stoppin vibin to Ash Rockin/ my mental crowds applauding. when im having brain spasms man i suck at rappin but this is my passion blah blah blah blah

dare you to try and rap on some bonobo. work hard as an emcee and try to figure out where to drop the syllables of each work according to the beats. if you have trouble following the beats just follow the hi hats usually they can give you the tempo. but some beats are in 6/4 or 5/4 really so if you wanna rap over odd time signatures and you struggle with this you have a long way to go

You switch up your flow every few bars, watch what the hats and bassline are doing. Everytime the bassline adds some extra swagger, flip bars to match the rhythm..
