Love, love, loved the puppy playdate. So good to hear that you all are going to continue with the "family" socialization. Herc and Bruno are just going to have a different type of relationship. Different jobs, different inherent breed characteristics. Nothing wrong with that.

@kellystephens0774 ай бұрын
@user-ro8fq7wo7f They typically don't recognize them as such because they don't have the same body odors as they did when they were puppies. They will recognize each other as playmates from now on.

@@kellystephens077 That makes sense although I’ve seen videos of littermates or parents who definitely recognized their family members at later meet ups. Maybe some do and some don’t.

Love mulberries! My Grandma had a huge mulberry tree in one of her fields. All of us grandchildren would climb and eat berries. You had to leave enough room to eat all of your supper or we could go to the tree next day. We could also have cookies. But if we didn't eat all our supper because we were full of berries or cookies. Grandma would make sure we knew we had to eat all of our supper or mulberry tree or cookie jar were off limits. I remember a couple of times thinking I'd burst before I got all my supper done. I did enjoy the mulberries! Was more careful next day. 😂

I’m 54 years old and I just learned within the past 3-4 years, that it’s not good for an oak tree to cut it in any way (unless it is a danger to life and limb) between the months of March and November due to the risk of oak wilt. I don’t know what kind of trees you all have but I know you’ve mentioned some oak trees, so I thought I would share, just in case you were thinking of trimming/pruning some oaks that you want to keep. Oak wilt is heartbreaking and it spreads rapidly. Shady Acres is looking great.
@jeanettelong-i6j5 ай бұрын
Heck, I am 73 and figured this out in just the past couple of years. I was sitting on my front porch trying to figure out why some of the oak tree limbs were dying---some no bigger than my thumb, up to one's that were wrist size. Then I had the Aha moment...it was limbs that I had pruned! Will apply a wound sealer in the future, and prune only in winter.

Kyle, why not consider getting a Chipper/Shredder to take care of many twigs and branches? The chips would be good for the goat pen floor, the garden, bird area, use to mix with your own mulch/compost. Just an idea, save from having to tend to so many burn piles. One thing to note, is a good, fairly inexpensive (considering the cost of new mulch, straw or such for pens) chipper /shredder can handle up to a 3-4” diameter branch!
@thaismatsumoto5 ай бұрын
Yep... I actually wanted one for a present one year and my husband bought it. Used the branches for mulching my gardens. They can also use the wood ashes from the burn pile for certain plants as long as that's all that is in there being burned.

I don’t believe herc will hurt Bruno, eventually they will start playing together
@debihalsey22475 ай бұрын
I don't think Herc will hurt Bruno either. I'm pretty sure he would correct any action toward the goats if Bruno started to get rough. Herc would correct that behavior and let him know that's not good. What the Alpha guardian dog would do to each new member of the team. Other channels have added guardians to their teams. Because of coyotes, some have four or more guardians in same pen. One is Alpha and will correct improper behavior. They all learn to work together and do fine. I think Herc and Bruno would do the same. Just my opinion.
@irenehaugen61435 ай бұрын
Dogs are social/pack animals. These two should have been introduced from day one. Herc is a spoiled dog who gets too pampered for a supposed LGD. Bruno is the sweetest pup, and wanted so badly to play. But keeping them separated during the crucial puppy stage where bonding takes place, that has now become an issue.

Even if you keep Hercules with the goats and gave Bruno his own job to do at shady acres I do think they should be able to play together like Bruno did with wishbone. Granted it may not go peacefully at first but they will figure out how to play together without doing any harm to each other. You all just to have some faith/trust with them. That is my two cents for what it is worth. I had a 13 year old female dog (about the size of nala in height) and I decided to bring home a 7 month old Doberman puppy) It took a bit of time but they did figure out on their own how to get along.

I was watching videos on them....and the Gray one is the odd man out because they mate for life but his color is called Lavandar Pearl. That curved tree next to the office is the one that bugs me, the mulberry is what your dad took down today (Or it took itself down) on his land and he said the chickens would like the berries. It is amazing to see how big the 2.0 crew is getting. Let the natural progress with the Doggos continue they will learn to get along better in the long run
