I am absolutely obsessed with EMMA 2009, so this video is such a boon. I am American and I have to say, the BBC is the best thing that ever happened to the US.

The jane austen productions are, but the "news" is straight trash.

I’ve probably watched this version of Emma at least a hundred times and I never once noticed that Mrs. Bates dress had faded. 😱

The difference between how Jonny talks as Knightley and as himself is hilarious

I'm obsessed with Blake Ritson. It's fun to watch him play a snobbish fool like Mr. Elton.

This is such a cool video--I love the movie and it's awesome to get to hear them talk about their costumes :) And Jonny Lee Miller is the best Mr. Knightley EVER. Same goes for Romola Garai as Emma.

sorry to disagree - Mark Strong IS Mr. Knightly and Kate Beckinsale IS Emma - no comparisons

Regency clothing is so much more dashing & attractive to the eye than the fashion that comes next up through perhaps even today.

This is fascinating. I have just watched a video which included the costume designer on Pride and Prejudice (1995) talking about her vision of the costumes. She wanted a very different look - deliberately pastel for the girls. I think both shows had fantastic costumes - very beautiful.

I love Frank Churchill!!!!! He did an amazing job too in North and South

Not being picky, and I did love Emma's costumes, but they didn't mention the gorgeous pink number she wore at Box Hill. My special favourite. The textures were as lovely to wear as they looked. Natural fibres tend to be that way.

Nice to see my research helping with these costumes, it was a great series to work on.

I'm I the only one who wishes we still dressed like this and wonde where I can get my hands on them in a store? I'd love to own at least one complete outfit like Jane Austen's characters!!

Of them all, I think this adaptation's clothing, especially Emma's, are the most attractive. Surely, you know someone who sews? You know, Amish women sew the whole of their family's clothing. Do you live anywhere close to a community of theirs?

Try looking on eBay and Etsy, there are quite a few people who make regency era clothes.

The style is only sporadically popular, thus only sporadically available. I loved it in the 1970s when I was a teenager. However, men almost universally hate it because it hides the shape of your body. Sometimes I despair.

I'm thinking about getting this series. Can someone please tell me if it is safe for my young Christian eyes to see? There is nothing bad in it right?
@shaysimmons49584 жыл бұрын
Well it has snobbishness, meddling, hypocrisy and one scene of deliberate and shocking cruelty.
@maryhamric2 жыл бұрын
Define bad. There is a deception on the part of a character. No sex if that is what you are referring to.
@zc2908 Жыл бұрын
There are some kissing scenes but nothing too explicit. And human beings showing some vanity and deception. You should be fine :))
