@@thunderjeep08 I'm also just waiting. I love the game but don't have the confidence in my knowledge to really give decent feedback on what's most wrong and what features would be best. So paying money early to give no feedback and just ruin my first experience seems kinda like a bad decision.

I have made it to the mun and back on a pretty standard rocket and built a few lko spaceplanes and planes in general, performance was deffinately my biggest issue but the only bug I encountered was not being able to see how much fuel was in each individual tank In parts manager,(it also ignored the coupler and drained fuel from my lander) cutting off my ability to crossfeed fuel to different stages. Way overbuilt the rocket and luckily had a quicksave early enough to save the mission
@vladislave7826
@vladislave7826 Жыл бұрын
I got enough when a simple mun mission was ruined by staging fuel drain bug. And the game does not support 1680x1050, so I was forced to witness this in 900p.

There is a kerbal engineer mod called micro engineer and it just takes values that the game already calculates and displays them. The game apparently calculates things like TWR already and the modder just had to pull them out and display them

On a lonely planet slowly spinning its way towards damnation, and with the incompetence and unpreparedness of Private Division, one youtuber stands resilient against the herds, putting his sanity on the line for those who were previously unaware of GPU prices. Yes, it's the incredible adventures of Matt Lowne of the Blunderdevs, saving overburdened KSP developers one bug report at a time! Seriously though, thank you so much for doing this! I want this game to get better and fulfill its potential, and this is so much more constructive than just whinging about how many bugs there are, as most people seem to do.

The IRL SABRE has hope. the pre-cooler (one of the most critical components of the system) has shown a lot of promise in testing so far, and has attracted interest from other industries.
@1anwrang13r
@1anwrang13r Жыл бұрын
They've been working on this since the 80s when it was called HOTOL. All they've managed so far is some very limited proof-of-concept testing of the pre-cooler. All they need now is to turn that into an actual working full-scale pre-cooler, then develop the insanely complex engine required to stick behind that pre-cooler and that can deal with both liquified air as an oxidiser as well as pure liquid oxygen, and then put these engines in an airframe the like of which we've never seen before. Given the incredibly slow progress they've made so far I'm not going to hold my breath waiting.

Skylowne! Btw, KSP2 does actually *run* under Linux, although the poor optimisations will see you at sub-10fps when near kerbin and upto 40fps elsewhere, regardless of graphics card. Also, the clouds are borked.
@zetalasis

Is it native or does it use the Proton compatibility layer? I'm sure someone will add support for it with Wine.
@redderthanmisty6762
@redderthanmisty6762 Жыл бұрын
@Zeta it already runs under both Proton & Wine, though the lack of a difference in performance between the two trying to run ksp2 suggests there's alot of power being left on the table by the poor optimisations.

After hundreds of hours in KSP1 I had high hopes for KSP2. You and Scott Manley taught me damn near everything I learned, and seeing the infuriating experiences you both are having is truly sad. I had been eagerly waiting to play as soon as it hit E.A. but you've saved me money. If 2 of the most experienced KSP creators are having a nightmare playing this, it does NOT bode well. Kudos for persisting and refusing to let the Kraken win.

9:00 it looks like the bugged burn is also dragging the orbit of the satellite you deployed along with you. That’s a bug that has annoyed me more than most I’ve encountered so far in KSP2. I tried to do an Apollo style mission and it would have actually worked pretty well, but when I tried to de-orbit my Mun lander, the command module orbit got dragged along and it crashed 😂

The purpose of the precooler isn't to prevent the engine from overheating, it's actually used to liquefy the incoming air. This is necessary because it's really more of an air-breathing rocket engine. So the air gets sucked in, converted to a liquid, then pumped into the engine and used as an oxidizer. The nitrogen just goes along for the ride to increase thrust, making the engine even more efficient despite lowering the specific impulse.

I agree, the lack of game breaking bugs made this one of the most enjoyable KSP videos you've done so far. As much as I prefer longer and more complicated missions, this short sweet video was really great. That being said, how about trying to optimize a bit more and use that spaceplane or a similar one to launch a probe capable of landing on Duna, or one of the other planets?

I think as time goes on in KSP2 development we all just learn what bugs exist and design our missions around them. 1) 1:14 That one wing type falls off after a quickload? Sub a different type of wing and change size, or don't quicksave with the bugged wing type. 2) 7:57 Docking ports and decouplers broke? Use stack separators. 3) 9:04 Physics warp-burn has incorrect math? Let the burn play out at normal speed.
