If you activate the extended burn indicator in settings, you can see when you should start the burn. It also accounts fordifference in mass.

Turns out you dont even need a heat shield to land on Eve. If your periapsis is about 75 km then you can do it just fine with a fairing. Sadly one of my wheels popped on the way down so it's really hard to drive it but it works pretty well for my first rover. My rover (named Wall-A) has performed the first atmospheric analyses and ground experiments on Eve and earned me over 400 science from transmissions alone.

I have had that wheel problem before, from pressing Control at the same time as "W" and accidentally setting a trim value for positive acceleration. In my case it was not a glitch, obviously I don't know if your issue was the same.

Pressing alt while pressing the time warp keys(, and .) gives you physical time warp, the kind that you get while in the atmosphere. It goes up to 4x and is nice for nuclear and ion engines

How do you manage to keep your rover still? The only way I can scan anything ever is with the timewarp, otherwise my rovers will always start rolling down whatever tiny slope there is.

That is just default physical timewarp, same thing you do if you timewarp in the atmosphere. How you do it while burning, if I remember correctly, is alt+> or
