Early 2006. Trapped in an abusive marriage, terrified and hopeless. One evening, chaffeuring my abuser to his drinking hole, this song comes on. She draws a picture of a woman in her power. I want to be like that woman, I thought. "She makes me feel like I could be a tower". I can be like that woman, I thought (except for the tall bit). I started calmly, plotting my escape. Escape I did. This song will always be special to me.

You know what's sweet about this song that I just thought about now? This is literally another woman recognising that a woman is beautiful inside and out and instead of trying to tear her down or be better than her, she is inspired to express those same traits she found so beautiful in another.

Her face is a map of the world, is a map of the world You can see she's a beautiful girl, she's a beautiful girl And everything around her is a silver pool of light People who surround her feel the benefit of it It makes you calm She'll hold you captivated in her palm Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) This is what I wanna be Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) Why the hell it means so much to me Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) This is what I wanna be Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) Why the hell it means so much to me I feel like walking the world, like walking the world You can hear she's a beautiful girl, she's a beautiful girl She fills up every corner like she's born In black and white Makes you feel warmer when you're trying to remember What you heard She likes to leave you hanging on a word Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) This is what I wanna be Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) Why the hell it means so much to me Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) This is what I wanna be Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) Why the hell it means so much to me And she's taller than most, and she's looking at me I can see her eyes looking from the page in the magazine She makes me feel like I could be a tower Big strong tower yeah The power to be The power to give The power to see, yeah, yeah She got the power to be The power to give The power to see, yeah, yeah The power to be The power to give The power to see, yeah, yeah She got the power to be The power to give The power to see, yeah, yeah Suddenly I see This is what I wanna be Suddenly I see Why the hell it means so much to me Suddenly I see This is what I want to be Suddenly I see Why the hell it means so much to me

"You can see she's a beautiful girl, she's a beautiful girl" She says that she is a beautiful girl showing that she finds her attractive. "Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) This is what I wanna be" she wants to be the way she is which is being homosexual. Also "She makes me feel like I could be a tower Big strong tower yeah" She makes her feel powerful like someone you'd love would.

This whole album really helped me through my depression when I was at college, I never knew it was from a film, I brought the album as soon as it came out, I never thought about it in a lesbian way somehow that concept makes it lose its depth and spiritual aspect to me, you really can love people on the same level if not more in friendship I think, I had soulmates as best friends some of the most beautiful girls id ever been around, real free spirited, hippy hearted loving women, and I just always remembered there way of being and how they inspired me to have the same power in life, to be enlightened... When you're enlightened you are the girl she sings about you have the power to be, the power give, the power see, everyone can be this girl, this beautiful light sharing soul, it is your true essence in life, but sometimes it takes others for you to admire and to show you the light, I was enlightened around these women I wouldn't have found that path without them, but I fell into depression and going from such a high to low is crippling, but this album kept me in hope I would make it back there again, I dont think I would have made it through college without this album tbh. Especially heal over and miniature disaster, the whole album gave me strength and to feel understood when depression was such a lonely confusing place to be in. Kinda strange hearing everyone say childhood and school, im definitely an oldie 😂

No wonder I couldn't find the song! I had the lyrics almost completely wrong. I was searching "it's a beautiful day it's a beautiful day" and "suddenly I'm free". Don't judge me. Anyone could have made a mistake like that. Well, now I'm off to buy the song so I never forget it again.

LETRAS Her face is a map of the world Is a map of the world You can see she's a beautiful girl She's a beautiful girl And everything around her is a silver pool of light The people who surround her feel the benefit of it It makes you calm She holds you captivated in her palm Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) This is what I wanna be Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) Why the hell it means so much to me (Suddenly I see) This is what I wanna be Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) Why the hell it means so much to me I feel like walking the world Like walking the world You can hear she's a beautiful girl She's a beautiful girl She fills up every corner like she's born in black and white Makes you feel warmer when you're trying to remember What you heard She likes to leave you hanging on a wire Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) This is what I wanna be Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) Why the hell it means so much to me (Suddenly I see) This is what I wanna be Suddenly I see (suddenly I see) Why the hell it means so much to me And she's taller than most And she's looking at me I can see her eyes looking from the page of a magazine Oh, she makes me feel like I could be a tower A big strong tower, yeah The power to be The power to give The power to see She got the power to be The power to give The power to see, yeah, yeah (Suddenly I see) She got the power to be The power to give The power to see, yeah, yeah (Suddenly I see) She got the power to be The power to give The power to see, yeah, yeah (Suddenly I see) She got the power to be The power to give The power to see, yeah, yeah Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see) This is what I wanna be Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see) Why the hell it means so much to me (Suddenly I see) This is what I wanna be Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see) Why the hell it means so much to me (Suddenly I see) Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see) Why the hell it means so much to me (Suddenly I see) Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see) Why the hell it means so much to me
