One of the most compelling and affordable ways to break into the Adventure segment of motorcycles is on MotoDeal's Beyond the Ride. The KTM 390 Adventure is one heck of an adventure bike for the Philippine market, but it's not without it's nuances. Join us as we review this 390 platform motorcycle, that's also locally manufactured in our archipelago.

It is a great bike for those who are getting up in age and want something much lighter, and don't need, the need for speed, off road. At 72 find this a great all round bike, not giving up my DR650 but for the road and with GIVI Trekker 33/46 hard bags makes a great ADV bike for all types of riding. Got just over 3,500 Km on mine and loving it. Gave up on the 750cc and 1000 cc bikes years ago. Much more fun riding a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow. But the KTM will do much more than needed on or off toad. And getting 400 Km per tank of gas is pretty good, with a 14.5 liter gas tank. Thanks for the Video but this bike is far more than a beginner bike. More of I tired of pushing the heavy middle and heavy ADV bikes around and want something lighter and more maneuverable, type of bike.

spoked wheels and rally lift kit is all it needs for proper "adventuring" imo. Edit: I feel like it's more of a scrambler with adv farings. cheers, happy holidays.

I got the 2021 version brand new and I think i will never need another bike. Well except maybe a Vespa... but yeah, the KTM 390 Adventure is the type of bike you'll need if you're not planning to get a second bike. Fuel efficient, super light, enough power for 400cc bike and it looks awesome!

got mine around a moth ago and have 3,500 + Km on it and loving it. Went with the Dunlop TrailMax Mission tires and loving them as well, a true 50/50 tire that will last. Also putting the better KTM bash plate, seeing where they keep breaking the stock ones, when off road. You are going to love this bike it feels much liter than it is, and a joy to ride in all conditions.

If you have the budget, what would you prefer? Honda CB500X (370k) or KTM 390 Adventure (325k with quick shifter) that's 45k difference. Or do you have any big bikes to suggest to that 370k budget? preferably 400cc (on paper) for expressway usage. TIA MotoDeal! More power!

I am the owner of a KTM 390 Adventure which I bought in January 2021 as my very first motorcycle. About four weeks ago, while riding on city streets, I noticed something unusual with the damping motion of the rear suspension and stopped immediately. The rear suspension was leaking fluid badly. I was able to ride back home and took the bike to the KTM dealer for a check. The KTM dealer received my bike on December 7, 2021. A month has passed, and they have no idea at all whether the faulty rear suspension is covered by the warranty and that it must be checked with the KTM factory sometime during mid-January. The bike is not in working condition and it is in their workshop since its breakdown. This is a very disappointing and frustrating situation as I bought this bike mainly because of its alleged quality suspensions and its two-year warranty. Needless to say, KTM has not lived up to my expectations as a newbie in motorcycling.

Thanks for this! Looking at this and others right now - 309K 390 ADV, 300-320K G310GS and CB500X for 370K. Think the 500X will win at this point for value, twin cylinder and will still be going with normal routine servicing at 100,000km - KTM and BMW probably not without a top end rebuild due higher compression. Would be good to see a CB500X review?

Went with the KTM 390 Adventure come with traction control you can turn off, ABS with 2 settings off road and on road, adjustable suspension front and rear. longer and stuffer suspension travel and more ground clearance, Better off road and just as good on the highway. Did test drive the Honda 500X very nice bike and dose have better wind protection if that is what you want but I love to feel the wind on my chest, The Honda dose have a larger gas tank but the KTM will get me 400 Km per tank so not bad. I like to hit a lot of dirt and gravel roads as well as some off road so am getting the better bash plate form KTM Also have the GIVI Trekker 33/46 hard bags on it and still averaging 3.5 liters per 100 KM and getting as good as 3.2 on some fill ups. There is also that it comes with engine guard, hand guards, and bash plate, and power outlet witch for most other if not all small ADV bikes is an added cost. And for service there are single out there with over 100,000 KM on the and only had regular servicing done the KLR 650 and the DR650. Not sure how many Km for the 390 but have heard it is a very strong and dependable engine and have been around for a couple of decades.

If you are into sport bikes, I have no opinion. But if you are open to other bike types, may I recommend cruisers? They're low-slung but engine and length are more suitable for taller men. A couple of good starter bikes would be the Yamaha Bolt or the Kawasaki Vulcan 650s.

@@curiousdilettante396 thank you for your suggestions. I do not like sport bikes as they do not fit with what I mean with riding. As to cruiser bikes I like the Yamaha Bolt so much and if it will be available in Italy in 2021 I'm going to test it!!

It really suits me, because it is so light and easy to manouevre. It is really good for city riding because it is slim, handles well, and gives you a good view over traffic, and being light is easy to park up and make tight turns. I bought mine to use on twisty country roads, and it works really well there, but I have found that since the 600 mile sevice, it is very capable on main roads as well. If I tried to go over 8000 revs I was breaking the speed limits by too much. A small single doesn't suit everyone, but I took by BMW R1200R out a couple of days ago, to give it a turn, and I didn't regret buying the KTM for a second. The only advantage the BMW had was extra power, that I didn't really need, and those really excellent brakes.

I am 180 cm tall, would this bike be comfortable for me? I don't want to sit on it uncomfortably. With a very bent knee angle. Is this engine power enough? I don't need a motor to be able to do more than 150 km/h, but it can easily do that. Don't let the motorists get in my way, at red lights you can drive well ahead of them. You can even overtake trucks traveling at 110 km/h with it. Do you know this easily?

Why all Philippine content about motorcycle is so obsessed about the Expressway? It's a tiny road with speed limits of 100km/h? I can do that with any 125cc
@DigiMannen
@DigiMannen 3 жыл бұрын
Not allowed to ride 125cc on expressway, the 390 is a 400cc class bike, so it is allowed on expressways. Time difference can be big expressway vs highway. Baguio City, Benguet to Balintawak, Quezon City is just under 3.5 hour on expressway and 6 hours on highway for the 240km trip.

In the Philippines (ridiculous country) is not allow any bike less than 400 cc to be driven on a high way....what a joke
@DigiMannen
@DigiMannen 2 жыл бұрын
@Phil Jones If I goo service my bike in neighboring town it can take 2,5 hour each way, tedious hours going through every small village on old congested highway, but on expressway it is less than 1 hour. So it takes the whole day instead of half day for a mundane trip. I prefer to ride off the beaten track, but for many people they use their bikes to commute whole week, and want to get out of the city on weekends, fastest way to get out of the city is with expressway.
