This was a really refreshing review. Not talking specs and bling-modds but instead talking about how the bike handles on and off road.

Very good, honest review. No BS, just pure fact based opinions. Thank you for that. Both thumbs up ! As I had 2012 version and now I have 2019 I can say what I don't like about the new one is shorter suspension travel (250 vs 275), and the coolant fan engaging way too often while off road (the old one used to engage only occasionally), gear box - though quick shiftered, still get 'between's and miss-shifts (this is crapo while overtaking on tarmac - nothing changed here) and the look of the older one was more aggressive, hence more appealing to me - but this is the matter of taste. However ,what I love about the new version: slightly bigger tank, cornering abs, quick shifter (although not perfect), engine maps under the thumb (instead of under the seat but the old version had 10 positions available in sort of the dial under the seat - the new one two options only), stronger engine, smoother engine in low range (1st and 2nd gear), and no faulty, clunky, noisy valve rocker. There is also sth else - mine with only 500 kms on the clock had to have valve cover and gear lever seal serviced as there was a leak. Although nothing major, certainly should not happen after just 500km . No real competition for this bike (other than Husky 701). But there are no KTM lawn mowers, hence orange was mor appealing to me ;) Just kidding

What a beautiful riding area! I can definitely see owning a 690 in the future. I wouldn't want anything heavier than that for offroading.

Great choice sir! I got one myself, it’s a great bike for dual sport purposes. Recently, I bought some SM wheels that I can’t wait to get. It’s like 2 different bikes in one.

Originally I was going to buy a 690 but my wife wanted to ride with me so I bought a 1290 instead. She really didn't like it so I now have my name on a 690 for spring and will be trading the 1290. Great bike but just more than I needed for my style of riding.

Love my 2019 - 690 enduro had for a year now love it to bits👍 i ride it without any wind shield and i feel no problem personaly and plus i think in my opinion they all look a bit gay, i love the look of the factory look. I also fitted a Rottwieler air filter and a Teknic header pipe and wings exhaust, so awesome. I have got a bit carried away with spending but hey we don't get buried with our money. enjoy yours👍😁

WEBMASTER GURU dead right. I will eventually get a wings pipe as well. Plus a few other goodies. When I get the the rade garage tank for under the seat, it comes with the new air box and uni filter which they say gives you around another 5 hp. Really happy with this bike.

Hi there! Fantastic video! Thank you 😄 I’m going through the same buying decision at the moment. I want to get a 690 soon but I’m a little concerned over the seat height. How tall are you? I’m 1.66m
@lonewolfadventures26764 жыл бұрын
Brad Bennett thanks. they are a tall bike,I’m 186cm tall and find it fine. I think there’s a couple of options for lowering it as well.

@@lonewolfadventures2676 I had to get a low seat for my 800GS when I bought it hahaha. I've ridden a stock KTM 200 EXC for years so I'll manage somehow. Thanks so much for responding and keep the awesome content coming :-)

Order a KoubaLink !, I have had a 2020 690 Motard and now I have a 690 Enduro, (2020), The motard is 89 cm and the Enduron is 91 cm. I am 170 cm and with KoubaLinken which I ordered which will give you 1.25 ”(31.75 mm) lowering at the rear. Became perfect for me will surely work for you too;)

Great video, I will be getting back into dirt after stopping since my teens. I've been driving rosd bikes form15 years but wanna get into dual sports and the 690 is defionvthe top of my list. U think I'm would be making a good choice getting that when I haven't been on dirt roads and trails for over 20 years. I'm 5'10 170lbs and I was considering something smaller or a Suzuki dr650 but I don't wanna trade up in two years or so for a ktm. I want to keep it for the long run and this bike seems to be a true 50/50 road and trail. I'd be mostly driving on dirt roads and the ATV trails locally.. thanksnaoot and keep up the great videos and enjoy that beauty of a bike..

Jul'z the 690 really makes some harder trails ezy compared to others. The DR 650 is a great bike all round where the KTM really shows it’s colours off road. The KTM is pretty tall as well. I’m 6’ and any taller would be interesting. Best thing is jump on all bikes your considering and see which suits you more. 👍🏻 as long as your having fun.

@@lonewolfadventures2676 thank you so much for your reply, I appreciate it alot. I will be definitely doing that soon. I plan to test ride the DR650 this week and we'll have to see when the next test rides of the ktm come to my town to be abke to drive one.. u think the ktm would be easily lowered for me to be more comfortable on it? Ktm is surely a beauty of a bike and more off road ready out of the box then the dr for sure. I figured that by the time i get new suspension done on the dr and the carb kit, etc , I might as well jump on something that is already done. But then again u can't beat the price point on the dr .. thanks again man, cheers looking forward to your next video..
@lonewolfadventures26764 жыл бұрын
Jul'z thanks mate. Not sure about lowering kits as I have never had to do it so unsure of any issues. I see a few have done it with a lowering link for the rear shock then dropping the forks through a bit. But from my knowledge and experience dropping the forks through makes the steering more responsive as it shortens the wheel base which some won’t like. All the best with your shopping.

Good review...I recently sold my Katoom 990 adv, would you say this is the bike to replace the 990, I still need an open road bike to get to the destinations, but will enjoy the lighter weight, what’s your opinion. Cheers from SA....

For me it is. I’m no road rider but I’m happy sitting on 110/120klm hr comfortable on the road to reep the rewords when off road riding kicks in. If you have seen my last vid you can still mix it up with the smaller bikes as well. In that vid I road from home where they all trailered there bikes out. Have done some 600 klm days with no trouble what so ever. 👍🏻

Did you change the gear ratio on your 690? or are you happy with the gear ratio as it is original ... I have always change the gear rations on my ktm motorcycles I have had (have become a few) .. Did so also on my Ktm 690-2016 but feels like the new model goes nicer (could it be due to more horses?).

Mike Hearn have kept it stock. Feels fine to me and with the tighter trails good clutch control and she’s fine.
