I've been holding my breath waiting for Adam's Video review of the 790R! (I read his awesome written review on his website). I almost passed out and started to think I'd be left for dead! I love all of Riemann’s videos, obviously one of the best riders around on many platforms. But it is sad when someone who obviously is paid by KTM well do a review on a bike and all you hear is total praise. I’ve been a product tester in the sports industry for over 20 years where we do an unbiased test that tells the true pro’s and con’s. Watching this you can tell it was a total KTM marketing paid for hype. Don’t bet me wrong I have a 1090R and love the bike. Would just be nice to get real 100% reviews on bikes and gear. Imagine that if it happened.

Agreed 100%. Reimann is a world class rider and could probably jump on any numbers of bikes and ride it better than most mortals and furthermore make it look good on camera. This is clearly a very well devised commercial for the 790 Adventure R.

sauberbeast, I agree everyone has to hustle and make ends meet. But when you start of by saying I’m going to give you my “ complete impression”. Buy saying that, you would hope that’s what it is. Not a full blown marketing campaign. Maybe that’s a new way to hustle and make ends meet, start a moto review business that gives unpaid unbiased opinions. Still some great riding and yes it’s a great bike.

I just can’t go back to a heavy bike from my 500exc and ride like you are here. Naxos looks like an awesome place to go! I switched to it from my 690 Dakar Rally that wore me out on my 8 week ride in Africa and Europe. I also rode it through the high latitudes of North America. I came across a Kiwi on a RTW trip on a 500 with 25,000 miles on it and he quickly convinced me it was the bike to have! One of the biggest reasons for going with the 500 is picking it up by myself! I’m a worn out 60 year old with back issues that rides pretty much solo. I’ve done 700 mile days on the 500, Hare Scrambles, lots of single tracks and difficult mountains on it confidently and some what comfortably. It took me a few weeks to mesh with the 690 and minutes with the 500! Going to a heavier twin is out of the question for me. Australia here I come! 45 days there and 15 in NZ in 2020.

@@marksvideochannel3592 Thanks for asking! No, I haven’t made it down to NZ or Australia yet. As you mentioned, Covid put a stop to getting far from home until 2023 when I went back to southern Europe and North Africa. Then to Mexico for a couple of weeks of off road travel. I have had a couple of serious invites to Australia since 2023, but have been busy in the motorcycle business that keeps me close to home during our summer riding season. I am heading back to southern Europe in a couple of weeks to pick up my old KTM 500exc and heading off on a 5 week off road journey through Spain, Portugal and Morocco!

I could ride it like it was half the size in a range of conditions. My skills improved along with my confidence. Nothing but KTM for me now.... wouldn't even consider anything else. @@JinKazama92Your comment about looks is irrelevant. 690 is nice, but really its just enduro with big engine. Not as practical, maintenance free and reliable as real dual sport.

@@Angry-Lynx how can you say the 790 is more reliable than the 690 when its still a new engine? you should start looking up the recall issues reported by the new owners. The 690's new LC4 engine is definitely more reliable because its a mastered design ever since it was created in 1997.

I live in Alaska right now, and while yes I have not seen much (havn't lived here very long). I would love to see Greece, and Naxos in person. Even in video they look soooo cool. Also part of the reason why KTM keeps pushing me into their bikes (in particular the ADVs) is their Rally events, and well as someone who loves travel that is perfect for me.

I've owned a 2013 990 and now a KTM 500 EXC. I was so looking forward to either this bike or the new Yamaha, but neither scream, "Take my money," for me. I'm waiting for someone to come out with a production rally style bike that can be used as an adventure bike. Most of us mortal riders could never ride like ARiemann1 on a bike like the 790R. Until then, I'll just keep adventure riding my 500. P.S. how can anyone give a thumbs down to any of his videos?

'The end of the f**king road' (2.57) ?? I always carry a folding Sandvick pocket saw for exactly these occasions, I used it scores of times doing the Trans America Trail (TAT). It would have cut through the 4 or 5 small branches to the right side of the trail in less than 10 minutes and you are under that fallen tree and on your way. These folding saws weigh less than 6 ounces and fit in any jacket pocket. No excuse to fail to carry one when out in the woods.
