Latecomer to this clip... Just wanted to say that I really enjoy Sascha’s narrating style. Obviously knowledgeable, matter of fact, no drama, no unnecessary repetitions and with all the info necessary- at the same time not boring or just rattling off fact sheet- data. Well done. That way - as a “Tiger guy myself” - I can generously forgive the slightly longer time spent on the KTM 😉. Greetings from a new subscriber!

I bought the 890ADV R for BDR’s so I think it’s the best bike for that type of adventure. I hope to use it to ride ALL of the BDR’s

You guys are spot-on but this is an 890 video... I have over 10000 miles on my tiger rally Pro 50/50 riding in Colorado. My buddy has the 890. I would never change but he said he could be swayed. Running I-70 to get to some of the Jeep trails and Blasting paved County Roads is more fun on the tiger. We have exchanged bikes at times. The tiger is simply the better do all bike for the money. It all comes down to the rider. A more advanced rider on the tiger can smoke an average rider on an 890... My Tiger has NEVER been in shop. 890 has lived there.

technically there is a recall on the tiger 900 to replace the rear reflector that can fall off :) Triumph allow 10 minutes technician time to replace so should be a quick replacement.

You are absolutely right. The Tiger feels better onroad and is more comfortable offroad. Most trails can be done both bikes. The Tiger would suit more people, yes. The 890R is more on the sporty side, both onroad and offroad. And that comes with a price. It's the last bit on the offroad spectrum in which the 890R outperforms the Tiger. But not everyone needs the better adjustability of the suspension and more crash resistant plastics. If only the Tiger would come with an 18" rear wheel, both be almost the same offroad. Sorry, our love for the 890R was a little too obvious. We'll work on that!

I've had my 790 R since mid-2020 and I still consider it the best bike I've owned thus far and perfect for the riding I do. I test rode a few other mid and heavy-weight ADV but they felt so much more top-heavy after riding the 790 R. with the lower center of gravity. It makes a big difference when doing the slower technical riding. The 790 actually feels lighter with a full tank, go figure. I haven't had any issues with it as well, rock-solid reliable in my case. I have to say though, the Tiger 900 is a great-looking bike.

I have a 690 and I like everything about it until it comes to highway speeds. That is where the 690 really shows it’s limitations. The 890 adventure r might be just the bike I’m looking for. Gonna have to check it out next time I’m near the dealership

Does the Tiger manual state for light off road use only still? If it does, then that answers the question. The Tiger is a great all road bike, but not brilliant in rough single track stuff. Dirt roads; fine. Sealed roads; very good

I've done two separate 500k rally on mine, it's heavy you need decent tyres but it's as capable as you are.
@kymstock18522 жыл бұрын
@@davidhardstaff8110 agree with you. It is capable off the sealed roads, but if Triumph could add a mode that turned it into a KTM 990, it would be great!!!

Thanks Guys - very interesting discussion - and useful to me as I am considering one of these. However, a comment on which one is the easiest to ride off road for the non expert rider would be good.

OK all, I am 50, rode dirt bikes all my life (Also rode street bikes, just put the dirt bike in for reference), gave up my dirt bike back when I was about 38 when I moved, I am ready to get another bike and an Adventure bike is the only way, it is the way! So I like this 890, but man I really like the Triumph Tiger 880 also. Opinions?

I own the Tiger 900 RP. Ridden dirt and street since age 9. 49 now. Ridden the KTM 790 Adv R and T7. Here is my opinion: 790R is an awesome bike with vast amounts of power, makes you feel confident in offroad conditions, but has many reliability issues. The T7 is a great bike that (although many won't admit) is top heavy and hard to pick up. The Tiger 900 FEELS lighter up top than the T7, but doesn't comparre to the 790 in terms of how it carries itself (still a bit top heavy) due to tank design. If the 790/890 wasn't plagued with issues (read the forums), I would probably sell my Tiger for the KTM, but as it stands the T900 just performs all around well - with ZERO issues (after a 20000km). just my .02

@motoskillsfactory2 жыл бұрын
We didn't say it was the same, we said it looks the same from the outside. It's a smoother heavier engine. It has similar torque as a 790 that's been geared down a tooth in the front, so definitely more power and torque.
