Gasgas I think can survive on it's own if anyone buys it, and brings it back to it's roots. It's a trials brand. It's one of the big 3 in trials. Sherco, gasgas, and montessa. I'd hate to see them fade into the past.

Agree. They've over complicated their lineup, diluting choice while playing consumers for fools. In Canada, Husky and KTM are never in the same dealership, but while many parts are identical, they have separate part numbers and are not cross referenced. What an expensive way to run a business...

He meant not selling as fast as they are producing them. Pierre Mobility has a mountain of unsold bikes - all three brands - that they have to unload. Sales, I've read, are down 20-23% from previous years. This unsold inventory is tying up millions of Euros in working capital. Why so many unsold bikes? As sales slowed down in the past couple of years, they kept making bikes at the same rate as their best year - incompetence!
@endurofurry27 күн бұрын
@@spacejaime Yeah sales being down is expected, during COVID everyone was bored and had this convenient check (at least in my area) My local dealer was empty they couldn't keep bikes on the floor. Now people are going back to work so the used bike market is flooded. With bikes that have a few rides on them for cheap. The fact everyone is losing their mind over this is crazy to me. This happens a lot with manufacturers of anything. They will hold on to their products as long as possible to try and sell them at not a loss. Eventually, they will give in and sell at a small loss and life moves on. This is actually great for the consumer. If they have inventory they need to liquidate the prices of bikes will lower. I just went and bought a brand new 12,000$ bike for 9,000$. So enjoy it while it lasts!

My neighbor was 1 of those examples but what was crazy to me is he was making 3x more than if he was going to work. While I understand there can't be mass layoffs due to lockdown without giving people money. Seems like they could have done a better job paying them what they would have made before they had to leave work. But who cares we are going into a recession so everything is about to be devalued anyway!!! Time to make some killer money off the government. When everything crashes. The official purpose for buying Gasgas was to get their trial bikes - in fact, they let Rieju take over the production of ex-Gasgas enduros. I agree though the bikes lack brand identity, especially after they recently introduced the "plus" models for all brands, so we have 2 Gases, 2 Huskys and 3 or 4 KTMs (they already have 6 days, this was a new one), all with the same engines (I heard Gas had a bigger flywheel) and basically the same frame... With the street bikes, the situation is a bit different, I feel the brands (KTM and Husky; Gasgas is off only so far) have, to a certain extent, an identity (Norden or Vitpilen is not the same as Adventure or Duke), but the cam and other issues have hit them hard, especially as the company has a (deserved, AFAIK) reputation for refusing warranty work, blaming the customer instead.
@BlueMarbleRider23 күн бұрын
Agree with much of what you said. But for many, the Norden is essentially the standard 890 with different sheet metal. The Vitpilen is a cosmetic exercise to dress up the Duke 690. That is KTMs problem, the essentially sold Nordens to folks who were looking at the 890/890R. On top of that, the T7, Tuareg, Strom800DE etc. have all emerged and made the market even more competitive. That said, I loved the Vitpilen 701 when I rode it - it felt unique, but just hasn't sold the way they hoped it would.

7:20 News flash - KTMs have been in Red for years now, after they bought the GAS GAS brand name. The video is on point THOUGH. Nor too many Husaberg riders kept on buying KTMs after the bikes stopped being different. Fewer still of the people who enjoyed the old red Husqvarna models migrated to the KTM in White. We've all moved to other better brands, like Sherco and Beta. MV Augusta has already been devulged from the stable. Much more to come yet, Pierer needs to find €3 billion, that sort of change is unlikely to be located behind the couch cushions 😅

KTM has already dumped MV Agusta which was the only marquee they had that's not a clone. My guess is Gas Gas is next to go, likely to a Chinese parent co. like CFMoto ?. KTM isn't done yet, but I'd not bank on them finishing out the decade.
@J.Harry.T26 күн бұрын
KTM hasn’t exactly dumped MV Agusta. The KTM parent company, Pierer mobility, has a current defaulted debt of €1.8 billion. There are further debts that will become due for repayment in 2025. In order to stave off the creditors it will have to pay them a percentage of what it owes and, as it has no cash it must sell whatever assets it may have in order to do so. MV Agusta is one of the few parts of the group that still has some value; hence Pierer Mobility has put it up for sale. It would have been Husqvarna, but that has significant debts of it’s own so isn’t actually worth much. The MV Agusta brand is untainted so will survive. The KTM brand is now thoroughly de-valued and may well disappear.

I have to disagree with no one buying their bikes. At least for the Endurance seen, it is 96% KTM, Husky, or gasgas. And prob 40% are 5 years old or less. The thing is companies have operated in the red for decades with no problem. Look at Twitch. They have not made a profit since they started. I am not saying it can't happen. But KTM has its hands in so much else. Their brand deals and other projects are keeping them afloat.
@BlueMarbleRider23 күн бұрын
Yes, many seem to be buying their bikes, but the whole picture is much bigger.
@endurofurry23 күн бұрын
@@BlueMarbleRider No really. Everyone is crying and throwing a fit but it's really common for large companies to play in the red for decades and KTM has only been there a second. KTM is already paying its debt off. Plus the new 2023- and up generation of bikes is better than with massively improved handling ever so many are starting to jump ship from their 2018-2019 bikes. My point by this is The new bikes are with the money. And while they may be in the red cash wise they are flush with assets to liquidate. KTM is still trying to turn a profit on the major stock. But if they get desperate they will start letting it go at break even or even a small loss to bolster the bank accounts. They won't go under or go anywhere. This happens regularly with any manufacturer of anything. This is not worth crying over, getting stressed, or the drama. At this point, it's become a media grab for views that are way out of proportion. There are no signs of a failing business. Share prices are about the same as 3 months ago, No mass layoffs, etc. It's business as usual. In fact, in the last week, shares have gone up 50%+.
@BlueMarbleRider22 күн бұрын
@@endurofurry Some good points. KTM stock is currently at 21E, up from mid December but way down overall. Currently they don't have the capital to pay off their debt, they are servicing it. 90 days is a hold. Like I said, they won't go under, but they will restructure - with heavy input from creditors like Bajaj. There's no doubt the head office with stay in Austria, but the manufacturing is far more likely to end up in India, or China. So the question is not whether KTM stays afloat, but whether it is still KTM or just another badge for Bajaj or CF Moto. Not a bad thing: both make great products. But the point of the video is irony: there is no crisis. KTM scoups up marques, uses their branding but kills off what made them great -their soul. It has led to problems for their marketing - the difference between a ktm, husky, gas gas is? Now they face the same future.
@endurofurry22 күн бұрын
@@BlueMarbleRider Everyone's stocks took a major hit in the April area so got to factor in the world took a dip. Also, Pierer mobility has had massive share fluctuations over the last while making it incredibly hard to look at long-term data. Fluctuations caused by them adding and buying back shares to the public market making the value wildly erratic. The best way is to look at the price and the fact it's going up, but still that's kinda sketchy. CFmoto can't have anything to do with KTM. They have joint ventures with Yamaha, by working with KTM they would be breaking Antitrust laws, also known as competition laws. They would have their hand in too much of the market so they are out. The FTC would have a field day. Bajaj sold their 46.5% shares in 2021 so they are out of the picture as well and own no stakes. The biggest thing after all is KTM really is not in debt. They are asset-rich, while cash-poor. All they have to do is liquidate assets and they have Cash once again. Which they will if they have to. So while I appreciate your level head and point of view the stats and facts say nothing is going to change and in 3 months everyone will find some new drama.
