It's far worse than that. Some manufacturers in the mid 2000s started designing bikes to fail post warranty by the use of plastics with defined heat cycles and this is the business model for the company. See a certain Bavarian brand. This is not poor design, it's designed failure.

Nice video! Please keep them coming. I don't know if the fueling system on this bike and the RC390 are the same, but my 15' RC390 had a starting issue and would also run lean. It turned out that the fuel hose wasn't sealing correctly. Hence, the fuel pressure was incorrect, making it stall and backfire on the declaration. It was also intermittent because the hose would move around, have better sealing at one moment, and be squirting fuel back into the tank the next minute.

Your mic is lucky, I'd love to have a muff just laying around 😂 If you're not aware, instead of purchasing a higher pressure relief valve, you can modify the original. And, with the free play in the gears within the throttle body, if you release the tension on the two lower screws holding the stepper motor, you can eliminate all of the free play by gently using a screwdriver between the housing and the stepper motor mounting plate, apply a little pressure, check the play, and retighten.

From the paperwork that came with it (it was imported to Thailand from Japan) the chassis # comes back as a 1998 or 1999 and it is absolutely impossible to find spares for this bike. Having a single 577cc engine miss all the time except for when you're really on it makes it exhausting to ride.
