KTRK CH13 Cadet Don and Kitirk

Ok , I was reading the Victoria Advocate (Victoria, Texas) in Google Newspaper Archives and looked at the TV guide. I noticed Cadet Don and Kitirik's Karrousel on Channel 13. I decided to Google KZbin to see if there were any clips. I found several and I'm glad because this should be preserved for future generations to enjoy.

My Dad made sure we went to see KITIRIK every time she was at an opening of anything....he didn't want me to miss out....HA!

Oh, how I remember these two so very well! On my birthday (not sure which), my mom took me to the CH13 studio, and I got to see Kitirik live and in person. What I didn't know at the time was I was going to get to ride her carousel and meet her face to face. She asked my name and my age. If memory serves correctly. I was terrified!! On another birthday, mom and dad sent a postcard in to Cadet Don's show, telling him of my birthday, and he announced it on TV. I was a star at my school that day, since I think every kid in Houston watched him before school! Those were the days my friend...those were the days!!!

If your folks sent in a b-day postcard to Cadet Don (as mine did), they must've included the place your present was! Mine was under the couch! A "personal" and unique live touch I don't think was replicated on "Kitirik."

I was in grade six and my church choir sang on the cadet don Christmas special I just remember how bright the lights were
