@@deiterp3912 It's not so much a talent as it is a genetic advantage. I watched a sports medicine documentary on an ultra-marathoner and basically among other things, these people's muscles are great at flushing lactic acid which is what leads to pain, fatigue and soreness. They are badass people.

@@kumstane3845 - People who routinely do ultras do not have these concerns. If you love running, this is nothing. The thing is, though, being able to cover a large area on foot in a quick amount of time. If you're trained and know the area, you may very well NOT miss any signs or sounds. It's about training and covering a large area in a short time. See MIssing Persons 411 & you will hear how often this actually does happen. When someone gets lost on a trail, or confused (by many mysterious means) they cannot find their way back to their car then keep going in circles so stop, take shelter and hope someone will find them. Then if they don’t get found & have no food they panic, get more disoriented & now are exposed to the elements, weather, wildlife & low temperatures. Don’t have to have an injury to be lost & sometimes never found until its too late. You’re spot on PInk Rose about an emerg beacon & GPS & all other recommendations.
