The Marxist government running Santa Cruz has more important things to spend money on, like lining the pockets of bureaucrats "working" 😅 at non essential agencies, and giving millions to bums and the left's pet illegals. Because of bureaucratic incompetence, it will probably be years before they repair the wharf. But first, the will have to spend millions on useless studies and reviews before they even begin work.

The largest wharf in America was let go, comparable to the worse of homeless encampments. It’s Very sad for the amount payed for leadership. You don’t need to be an engineer to know that it needs to be fixed. I Realized that almost 10 years ago. The entire thing would rock as cars drove on it and the logs were so old anyone with any real life experience would know that it’s time to replace them. These piers are really old. Some of them were built in the 1930's. Hermosa beach had the same thing happen to it's pier. The city rebuilt, but it wasn't the same. It used to have a snack bar and a bait shop at the end. Now it's just an empty space. Honestly there should be replacement projects underway for a few of these piers before this happens again. So much of the lumber is rotting away after decades of exposure to the sea water.

SF banned straws due to a 15 year old high school kid's report, who was in a club where they pick up litter. The kid multiplied the number of straws he found by the area of CA's coastline to determine how many straws are out there... not much scientific rigor. But that never matters to progressive politicians if the thing "feels" good. So now we use paper straws, ironically wrapped in plastic. And yes - drugs are effectively legal: if you don't prosecute, and you literally hand them out - that means they are legal.
