@ironheadbiker3 жыл бұрын
Back drag works awesome. Did some minor additions my video didn't show. Mainly adding some stoppers to hold the pins on the pusher, so they just retract instead of pull out. We've been pretty light on the snow lately, unlike you guys. I used to run hwy 5 twice a week from Wisconsin to Lactalis cheese in Buffalo (kind of Lackawanna area really) , to avoid the tolls. I know all about your winters, ya get the snow! We've got the potential for a good 1-2 punch this weekend, Saturday night into Sunday, but they say it'll be done before the big game. I also added my uhmw blade to the backdrag, stuff cuts like steel. I love the flip up ability of the blade, and the "reach" it has out in front of the tractor. It makes a great combo with my blower, and more importantly I don't need to remove my blower now. I'm busy as hell at work, but I go home Saturday am, then off until Wednesday so let it snow!

Now that's a plush fit. Some serious heat coming out, you'll need a heat shield for your left knee lol. The old water valve reminds me of my 1st semi truck, a good ol 9670 series international cabover. We actually used the same process to heat out fuel tanks, coolant lines running thru the fuel tanks, imagine the potential for headaches. Now obviously they return hot fuel to the tanks, but the old mechanical fuel pumps were "too dumb to fail". Here in lovely Wisconsin heat is always a good thing. Looked like a pretty straight forward install. I got my uhmw for my back drag yesterday, we got maybe 3" of wet heavy snow so I guess I'll get to play with it a little bit. I ordered a 72" 2 piece blade from moose country plow systems. Imagine my surprise when they sent me 3 of them. I'm sure I'll find something for them to go on. Somebody made a costly mistake. Stay busy, and hey maybe my Packers will meet your Bills in the big game! Later bro

Thanks kick ass man! Did you make a video on the backdrag yet? Ill have to check it out! Thanks for watching and your right this heater may warm my knee a bit too much haha. @ironheadbiker3 жыл бұрын
Yeah got to use the back drag today, 3" wet heavy shit. But it worked friggin awesome. Now I can keep my blower on all the time. The video i made on it was last week when we didn't have snow yet so I pushed some up onto my patio to drag it away. Lol. I welded some keepers on to lock my pins onto the pusher so I don't have to look for somewhere to store them like I did in my video. It has 4 pins, all removable, but I keep the top ones in, so I can flip it up into the top of the pusher when I don't need it, but my cylinders don't even extend half way to operate it. I'm always concerned about doing damage to cylinders when they're fully extended. I back dragged 60ft lines today without fall off mainly cuz we only had 3", but it scrapes awesome. Put a 72" uhmw blade on it today also. Scraped down to the gravel. I just couldn't be happier now since I can keep my snowblower attached to get rid of any piles. A blower and snow pusher combo is the best setup in my opinion. Push it into a long wind row, then blow it away never to be seen again.

I think I’ve seen that the Curtis cab comes with a panel that covers the intake suction screen below steering wheel so it won’t suck all the warm air out of the cab. If you don’t stop that suction from within the cab it’s gonna be hard to heat I would think. That electric one may have worked if that suction screen was blocked like the Curtis cabs. Just a thought. I can’t remember which size either 1/8 or 1/4 but in the intro of my video I believe I said which size nipple I used for this fitting.. it’s just your standard brass nipple you can find them at any local hardware store.. nothing special about it just if you don’t have a plug that you can pull to thread it in you’ll need to drill and tap it as I explained above. @BiffsEquipment3 жыл бұрын
Adding a cab heater will not void your warnetee to my knowledge just make sure your installing it correctly with the proper fuse in place so that if it ever shorts out it will blow the fuse and protect your tractor. The fans on this heater only had high and low settings they are not infinitely variable. Hope this helps!
@seansysig3 жыл бұрын
Great project as always. Nice heater install. Are the fans individually controlled? Also you could easily mount a thermostatically controlled valve that shuts the water off to the cab at say 65° F. Why not use a 3/8" close nipple and mount the valve directly to the thermostat housing?
@BiffsEquipment3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sean, The heater so far is working flawlessly, SO much better than the old one and my new switch panel has been great as well. As for using a close nipple to mount the valve off the housing I was only able to get the supplies I had as it was Sunday when i went to pick up the stiff I needed and not many stores were open and had what I needed so i had to make due. I also wanted the valve to be some what hidden so it still looked pretty factory when I popped my hood but that's a great idea what you said for others who want to simplify things a bit. Hey Frank, the heater I bought was from wish.com but you can find similar ones on eBay. But if you go to wish.com and search “cab heater” you should be able to find the same one or heaters that are very similar to the one I got.. the only bad thing about wish.com is it takes like a month to get it sometimes as it comes direct from China. If you do buy one from there go with a heater that has 4 outlets instead of only 3.. the more outlets the better cuz that means the radiator inside will be larger giving off more heat than mine does.. but Mine does do the trick pretty darn well and keeps me warm.. I make sure I insulate the cab well with fabric tho so that there aren’t many air gaps otherwise with a strong wind it can suck the heat out from the cab so just be aware of that. But so far this was the best heater I found to use in this cab for its dimensions and how well it fits and works.. if you find one with an extra outlet from what mine was it should still fit no problem where I placed mine because the only thing that will change is it will be a little longer. Hope this helps!

100percent, thanks very much for getting back to,I'm sure plenty wouldn't. How much additional coolant did you have to add? That was a lot of hose, so I'd think you need at least that much volume. Second, I'm no mechanic, but I'm assuming that since the heater core is fed and returned off tees, that the engine is still getting priority for coolant supply since a liquid takes the path of least resistance. Finally, any way to moderate the heat? Caps for those 3 openings maybe?
@BiffsEquipment3 жыл бұрын
Hey Dave, as for the coolant I wanna say i only lost about 1.5-2 quarts and i added about 3 quarts in total after bleeding. As for your second question the T is only on the return hose so it will not disrupt flow but even if you had a T on both the feed and return hoses it still wouldn't effect flow very much at all, you don't need an insane amount of flow as it is to get really good heat from a heater core and the flow that these T's supply is plenty and its been done this way for years with tractors and equipment.. The larger factor would be making sure you have the correct size coolant hose running to your heater core as too small of a hose for the application will def hinder the flow more so then a T would. Also your right about it taking the path of least resistance so your normal radiator would for sure be getting higher flow than your heater core is but its suppose to be anyways, as I mentioned above you don't need a ton of flow for a heater core just so long as the coolant is flowing at a decent rate you'll be all set. Hope this helps!

Hey Rick, your right since the radiator fan sucks air from the operator and pushes it to the front of the tractor in reverse from your normal tractor design (which is actually a great thing in the summer) you have to block off the radiator screen in the winter. Thanks man, hey it’s good knowledge to have for when you do eventually get one. I would highly recommend the Original Tractor Cab when you do get one!

Biff I installed a core in my kubota bx1880 like you did, but it doesn't get really hot, how is yours. Could use help.
@BiffsEquipment2 жыл бұрын
Mine gets pretty hot, did you make sure you bled all of the air out of it? Try removing one end of the heater hose off the heater then run the tractor until coolant comes out of it then plug it back into the heater, sometimes they get air locked when they are new, I’m sure you got some air in yours still is all

I sent it back, the second one did the same thing so I ordered a complete new one 28,000 but and I'm getting heat now. Thanks for your help, love your channel.

Nice… I just looked at my tractor, and I have a sensor plugged into that hole :( I have the BX 2380
@BiffsEquipment2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man; dang sorry to hear that but lucky it’s not a huge deal, you could always buy a T fitting and run both the sensor and your heater hose to it at the same time, if not you’ll unfortunately have to drill and tap a new hole. Let me know how you make out!

Help? I have a 2003 bx1800. I don’t have the fitting you have at the top radiator hose. I put a tee into the top hose and a tee at the lower hose. I bled out the air with a purge tee. I get no heat. How do I get the flow to go to the heater? Thx.
@BiffsEquipment2 жыл бұрын
You have to bleed the air out of the Heater itself .. remove one end of the heater hose from your heater and run it till coolant comes out of the heater then once coolant starts to come through the heater you know it’s bled and can stick the heater hose back on. Try that and let me know what happens. Sounds like you did everything correctly so you must have an air lock

Hmmm... I did not see any wood supporting the front bucket at the end when you're wrapping up! Other than that it went well.

Haha, Thanks for watching Steve, hope we get some more snow soon!

Any idea why Kabota engineers decided to mount the radiator in the aft part of the engine bay?

Haha! Wish I did!!

So that during the summer, the hot air flows away from the operator.
@BiffsEquipment3 жыл бұрын
@@waynesheffield7011 Wayne is Correct I read your comment wrong John I thought you were asking why they decided to put the radiator hose in such a tight spot.. yah the radiator is in the front near the operator to keep the operator cool during summer months.. with a front rad the hot air from the rad gets blown back onto the operator making you much warmer in summer months.. they also did this to help the radiator screen from getting so clogged up with grass clippings and debris because being beer the operator the screen can stay cleaner longer which helps to keep the engine running cooler in the summer months as well 👍🏻

Will you remove the cab in the summer?
@BiffsEquipment3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mark thanks for watching. I havnt quite decided yet to be honest.. At first I purchased this cab for the SOUL reason that it would be easily removable come summer cuz i didnt want a cab on in the summer but the more i use the cab the more i really enjoy it and like it so its getting tougher and tougher for me to wanna take it back off come spring. I guess ill have to feel it out come spring and see how things go so stay tuned!
@MarkDecamps3 жыл бұрын
@@BiffsEquipment Yea I would think you might want to leave it now that you have the heater and hoses installed. If you take the door and windshield off it would make a decent sunshade I guess.

@@MarkDecamps I agree.. yah I’ll know more this spring when I kinda feel things out here as it gets warmer for sure
