Kubota l2501 Hydro fluid sight glass

Where to check hydraulic fluid levels on a kubota l2501. DRIVERS side, sight glass location

The sight glass is on the clutch side of the tractor, by the floor board. I said passenger side, meant drivers side. But it's a tractor. It's the clutch side.

Thanks. Perfectly answered my question. A call to the dealer resulted in being told it was on the brake side, and darned if I found anything over there. Just over 50 hours on mine.

what am I looking for on the sight glass ? Is it easy to over fill ?

Half full, yes, very easy to overfill.

I changed both filters really quick for the first time and ive added 2 quarts and dont see anything in sight glass. Keep filling?

Really tough to say.. how much spilled when swapping filters? Could be over full. Ideally, if you had a drain pan when you swapped filters, and caught what dropped, you'd have an idea how much to add.

I think the sight glass is terrible. I even added a dye to the hydraulic fluid ti make the sight glass easier to read. I have been hoping someone comes out with an after market dipstick. There is clearance under the fill cap, so I think a dipstick is possible. If anyone is aware of a dipstick option, please let me know.

@user-3tf67bk46u The fill plug is on the rear of the tractor and the full level on the sight glass is in a totally different part of the tractor. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the wire measurement but I don't think it would be accurate by just measuring from the fill location. I overfilled my old B2650 by accident and it just came out the breather on the back of the tractor.

As far a filters go, get them from the dealer. There are too many fake filters sold today. I ordered "oem" kawasaki oil filters for a zero turn back in the day on eBay, and they literally disintegrated. I have a video of it. Looked exactly like the real one. Fake. So. You used your tractor. Someone else serviced it. It's been parked for over a year and now has an oil spot. But it's not sitting level. Am I close? It's going to have to sit level to check anything. If it were mine. I'd check and make sure everything is tight. Filters, etc. And that the engine oil is good. Id start it and try and move it somewhere level. If it's not pissing fluid from somewhere as soon as you start it, and it moves. It still has fluid in it. Get it level and check the sight glass. If it's too low, it won't move, and 10 seconds shouldn't hurt anything unless it's empty empty.

Gravity will cause the fluid to reach equilibrium at the same level at the site glass and case at the fill port. As a result, you should be able to measure the level at either location, providing a dip stick is calibrated to match the site glass, and the case is level. @@dand33911

It's really tough to tell, because new fluid is pretty clear. If you look at it when you drain it, and know what it looks like empty. You'll be able to tell when it's full. I checked it like 10 times as I filled it up. You'll see the line. I just filled mine up to the top of the sight glass, sitting on level ground. I love Kubota, but it's a really stupid design, how much is a dipstick?

Both filters are white kubota filters .........on mine. MX 5200....🤔

Weird.. Normally they come painted kubota grey when they're new, this one came with a yellow one from the factory.
