I'm a new Kubota SVL75-3 Owner (Tracked Loader) and want to try and learn to do as much of the maintenance myself as possible. Once you have run the new machine 50 hours there is 50 Hour Maintenance and special Break-In 50 hour maintenance to do.
The special first 50 hour maintenance is to change the Hydraulic Oil filter or Hydraulic Fluid Filter. This shouldn't be too difficult... and well it wasn't too bad, but you'll see, nothing is ever easy.....
See manual Maintenance Intervals page 147 Bottom row - special hydraulic oil change symbol
Then on bottom of page 148 see IMPORTANT "Perform the job indicated by @ at the first operation.
Total elapsed time in the 93F heat and super high humidity was about 3 hours. If I were to do it now, and once I have my new Oil Filter wrench and 24mm socket, I could probably do it in 30 minutes. Once you learn on how to raise and lower the cab, the hard part is over.
Even a rookie operator can do this. Watch and learn....
Equipment 2024 Kubota SVL75-3 Track Loader or Skid Steer (Skidsteer)
24MM Socket, 12MM Socket, adjustable crescent wrench or 24MM wrench
Oil Filter wrench, Kubota Hydraulic Filter, Kubota Hydraulic Fluid to refill lost fluid
Rags or paper towels for clean up.
Vacuum to clean cab before tilting it up
Check Window Washer Fluid Reservoir, probably needs to be less than 50% full or it will spill when lifting the cab

Update: for any Kubota Maintenance you will probably need 22mm and 24mm Socket and wrench. Common for many maintenance tasks (Thanks to viewer Ron W for pointing it out) The owners manual only has a brief mention of the hydraulic filter change requirement. It is in the Hourly Maintenance Chart but you need to search for the footnote that points it out for the first 50 hours. This took me longer than necessary because once again the owner's manual does not mention what size sockets you need, or if a notched filter wrench would be helpful. (22MM socket needed, and yes notched filter wrench (see description for link) would be helpful as the filter is in a tight location. As a rookie, this was not a difficult job once I had the tools I needed. Hope it helps you.

Just did this today and used a impact wrench; I had those bolts off in 20 seconds, it's the way to go for sure. Use a filter strap wrench and got the filter off no problem, but boy do you spill a lot of oil in the process. The filter holds 1 pint of oil exactly, so be prepared to dump that somewhere. Getting the filter on with a strap wrench is hard because everything now has oil on it , or so it did for me, the filter wrench would work great for putting it back on. The nut on the bottom of the filter is handy to help tighter the filter, though it can be hard to access. I had a bunch of dirt in the cab and it did not get on the seat. Also, my windshield wiper fluid was full and nothing spilled. Your video was helpful. Still not sure how to reset the computer as it's not intuitive, at least not to me.

Great insight on your experience. One tip a viewer shared was to use a 1 gallon or was it quart zip lock bag around the filter after you have it loose. Then with bag around it you can completely unscrew it. I’m going to make this video again on my next oil change with all your tips and other viewers. Maybe after my fifth oil change I will get it done in a reasonable amount of time. Thanks for watching and commenting. Please subscribe if you haven’t already. Have a great day

I have the same machine. After a year of clear our land with a chainsaw and 25hp Trackor my wife bought me the SVL 75-3. The nut size 24m. I am right behind you on my maintenance. Thanks for the channel. My wife gets on to me about safety glasses. Our land is southeast Alabama.

Thanks for commenting and confirming 24mm. I was blind as a bat as a kid and got LASIK in my 40’s. Now I’m 20/20 so eye sight is a hot topic for me. I wear safety glasses 99% of the time but it was so hot!! Tennessee isn’t as hot as Alabama but it is close. And that particular task was lower risk. If the filter was above my eyes I’d definitely wear them. Thanks for watching. Have a great time with the SVL75-3

Thanks, if you have encountered problems you think I should share let me know. I only have a few hours in total operating this and rental machines so really I am going up the learning curve at a pretty steep rate. A lot of other channels assume viewers have more knowledge than I do, so I don't always understand what they are trying to explain. I have no problem displaying how ignorant I am, but I am willing to learn to reduce the ignorance.... hopefully you will find that helpful Thanks for commenting and watching. (P.S. - I tried commenting on this before, and your other comment, and looks like KZbin failed me, so hopefully this one posts....)

I just teeter the machine when pulling it into my container. I have since started using some wood logs cut into ramps, it still teeters a little, but not bad. Dont have to worry about hitting the top.
@ahbuildingafarm
@ahbuildingafarm 4 ай бұрын
Are your ramps always in place? How do the doors lower locking pins/hooks miss the ramps or are your ramps lower? Mine go as high as the floor of the container
@t4terr
@t4terr 4 ай бұрын
@ahbuildingafarm I guess that's my only downside, but the pines I used have dried up to about 25 lbs, so I move them every time. I seen a snip somewhere people cut off the bottom locking mechanism so it doesn't interfere with nice ramps.

I just bought my 75-3 yesterday. Great video, Thanks! What size is the nut on the bottom of the filter?
@ahbuildingafarm
@ahbuildingafarm 2 ай бұрын
If I recall it's a bit close to the bottom frame so I believe I used an adjustable crescent wrench. I definitely would not use a strap wrench like I did. perhaps this style filter wrench amzn.to/4djIShf I haven't bought a wrench yet for my next change but I will. You can definitely do all your own 50 hour breakin maintenance. If you learned how to use a Skid Steer, the 50 hour maintenance is no harder than a car oil change. Thanks for watching and commenting

Hmmm all of mine have been bolt on each side for tooth bar over the real cutting edge. I"ll look at my Kids new Kubota next week.
@ahbuildingafarm
@ahbuildingafarm 5 ай бұрын
It looks like you can undo some bolts on the side and the entire edge and teeth come off. I do not think the bare edge is supposed to be used but perhaps I can buy a straight cutting edge. Would need to keep bolts well greased to make switching easier

Thanks for the info. My 75-3 just hit 50 hours. Where did you get the idea to change the hydraulic filter? I do not see this in my manual. Thanks
@ahbuildingafarm
@ahbuildingafarm 5 ай бұрын
On my version of the manual the Hydraulic Filter is recommended to be changed (but not the hydraulic fluid) after the very first 50 hours, but only that first 50 hours and then every 500 (five Hundred) after that. For my manual that is on page 147 in the table Number 28 of the maintenance schedule Also my dealer told me. And per my own decision I plan on changing the engine oil and the oil filter shortly (probably at 60 hours see page 119 Operation of Machine 1. Running-In Oil Change in the Run-in Stage) as I have heard that recommendation for all new engines, but I have not read that anywhere for Kubota, I will do the oil filter and full oil change just as a precaution.

@@ahbuildingafarmI see it there now. Thanks. It’s just odd it doesn’t list in on the 50 hour maintenance section for me. I feel like the manual is lacking some good content. Appreciate this video it was helpful. As an fyi, my dealer told me I did not need to pre fill the filter before putting back on. I can just add more to the reservoir tank if low. Not sure if this is correct but may help for a “cleaner” install on the new filter. Thanks again

The translation from Japanese to English is not always the best. I compared the paper manual to the PDF to the iPhone Kubota app maintenance guides and then try to do the most logical of the three sources (plus some KZbin suggestions) Thanks for watching

Got 150 hours on my machine now and don't have time to do any service yet. By the way, is the 50, 100 hours service are free at the dealership?
@ahbuildingafarm
@ahbuildingafarm 3 ай бұрын
In the video description I referenced the pages where my version of the manual state during breakin period to change oils at 50 hours. My dealer did not include any discount or free service for the breakin items. Doing the engine oils and filter, and changing just the hydraulic filter were not too hard. I would highly recommend doing the engine oil and filter change. All the more knowledgeable people I know say that break in and change on a new engine are important. If you are handy and have the tools I bet you could do the whole job, in under an hour

I couldn't tell if it is a tooth bar, as in one bolt on each end and all teeth come off on there own bar like a replaceable cutting edge.
@ahbuildingafarm

I will check the bucket when I’m out there. I am pretty sure each individual tooth is bolted on. Not sure if that leaves me with a smooth cutting edge or just “an edge”

dood, you own a $80k skid loader. BUY SOME TOOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amen. Well technically Kubota Finance owns a skid steer and I will own it in 3 years 5 months 💰💰 Surprisingly most typical metric socket sets do not go up to 24mm I now have the oil filter wrench and all the sockets. Next oil change should go much faster! Thanks for watching and commenting!! Have a great day

You are totally right, and actually I think making a list of the key things you need might be helpful. Example I didn't have the 22mm or 24mm sockets... which size was it.. ??... even now I don't recall exactly, but I could see how a list of some key items would help rookie owners like me. I had a lot of sockets, full sets and some partials I inherited from my grandfather and my dad, in both English and Metric, just not the right sizes. Thanks for helping me generate an idea for a video. Have a great day.
