Sorry just wanted to note the stick is called mafraka and that we are using chicken as in our house we do not eat red meat, but traditionally it is cooked with beef/lamb or goat etc. If you are a vegetarian you can also make it without any meat. :-) hope you all enjoy

SS COOKING I made this dish for my husband he threw it in the trash

I think this leaf is a generic leaf in all of Africa, I'm happy i know the English name now and the name from other African countries. I'm from west Africa and it's a delicacy we call it ewedu, ademe, or palava. but we cook it mostly with some more chilli and I like the slimyness too

I saw your thumbnail and clicked on the video because the jute mallow stew reminds me of a dish my husband loves called Fakoye. I did some research and it's the same thing (Mloukhiya). I will find the jute leaves and attempt to make this. ♥️

what is the alternative to mulukhia? Can I use spinach?
@AllAgainstOdds4 жыл бұрын
You can use spinach but you won't get that slimy consistency unless you use okra as well

I'm so sorry for the silence, Lou lou is correct it is called jute mallow leaves, its quite difficult to get fresh ones in london but we usually get ours from North London, i'll try and get the name of the store that does it and when it is available. Sometimes they say its seasonal. Many thanks for watching

I've never tried though it can't hurt for you to try, but we have always cooked it this way, i doubt it will make much difference because when we cook kudra tabegh they usually cut it down to fine pieces before cooking it. If you do try please let me know how it goes :-) many thanks for watching
