I remember going to my first concert in January 1985, it was Kiss/Krokus on the 'Animalize' tour ( Charlotte NC). We were all expecting to see Mark St.John (rip), we didnt know who the lead guitarist was. I remember really liking the guitars I saw at that gig ( 3 different metallic Charvels, a blue, silver and gold one). I Remember loving the solo in ' Creatures If the night' , he was playing that blue Charvel. I think that is the blue one on the couch behind Bruce in the above video.

In 1985 my family moved from Virginia to Hawaii. I was going into 9th grade. New land, new culture, new school, no friends, (while everyone else been friends 10 years) and the youngest grade of that school. I was an introverted outcast that summer/fall in every sense of the word. Then this album came out and was nice to have something in life that was familiar. Seeing Tears are Falling on Mtv one late night made my day. Especially loved "new guy" Bruce and his inverted fingering guitar solo LOL. Soon after, I met new friends, started playing drums in the band, and went on to have a great time living my high school years in Hawaii. This album was the start of that. Thank you Bruce!

Bruce has become the custodian of the Kiss that I was introduced to as a teenager. My first experience of the band had a lineup that was completed by Bruce and Eric Carr. The earlier lineups I found out about later. I still enjoy the 1980s period of the band´s history, and probably only differ from Bruce in one area - Asylum has a hideous album cover, front and back. Just my opinion. But I understand him having fond memories of that period, with it being his first album with the band and containing his first three writing credits. Love this channel!

ASYLUM will always have a special place in my heart. My brother bought the album for me for Christmas that year, and on March 20, 1986, he also took me to see KISS in concert for the very first time (Even though I've been a member of the KISS ARMY since 1976), at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, in Fort Wayne, IN., on that very tour. I love the album to begin with, but I also have a very special connection with it. Thank you Bruce for your contributions to it. :)

Really cool video Bruce. This was the first Kiss album I purchased as a kid in 85 when I was 6! It's a shame some of the songs weren't played live during the Asylum Tour. It's really cool hearing the bootleg recordings of "King Of The Mountain" and "Anyway You Slice It". I wish "Who Wants To Be Lonely" would have been played on the tour though. Thanks for keeping 80's Kiss alive. There's a lot of really good songs from that era.

Bruce. I have never had the chance to tell you how much you have meant to my life as a KISS fan. Every since you first popped into the group unexpectly on the "Animalize" tour and the "Animalize" LIVE video! From the minute I saw you perform on that video and that tour for the first time I was hooked. You did Mark St.John's songs and Vinnie's and Ace's parts incredibly well with your own flavor and then proceeded to carve your own style out in KISS for many years. Then the albums and video releases you played on were very much the soundtrack of my teen years! I saw you again on the "Crazy Nights" tour in Merrillville IN True, I began loving KISS at eight in 1980 and saw all of the band changes since "Unmasked" with Ace and Peter leaving, and Eric Carr joining, then "The Elder" with Ace and Eric Carr working together, and then "Creatures Of The Night"(both of which I loved) then the dropping of the make up and all on "Lick It Up" with Vinnie I loved all of the various members, but I truly loved your playing so much when you joined. My two favorite albums you did were "Asylum" and "Revenge" though I loved them all, including "Carnival Of Souls". That would be my third favorite with you on guitar. I am glad to to say I was fortunate enough to meet you on the KISS Convention tour in Chicago 1995 not to long before the reunion era. But you, Gene, Paul, and Eric Singer were so nice to me. You and Eric seemed kind of down and apprehensive about the coming reunion which I still didn't believe was about to happen, though it was awesome. But I never forget your increfible era with KISS. I have stacks of live bootlegs with you too as well. I love every era and line up of KISS including the current one, but I will say, you played guitar in the version of the band that was my entire teenage years. I especially love "Asylum". I love every song on that album! I really love "Who Wants To Be Lonely" and "King Of The Mountain", not to mention the other bigger hits and stuff like "I'm Alive" and "Radar For Love". I loved "Revenge" so much too. "Crazy Nights" and "Hot In The Shade"..

One of my favorite Kiss albums, next to Revenge. My first concert was you guys in January 1985 , where you were the MAN even though St. John (RIP) was in the tour book I bought at the show.... Anyhoo, it was the Animalize tour and it was exactly the same show that's on the DVD, and you rocked so hard... God bless you, Bruce... to a generation like me who was eleven years old at that concert, you were and will ALWAYS be the lead guitarist of Kiss, and the records you did in that wake only served to bolster that notion...

Saw this tour at the Mid South Coliseum in Memphis. November of ‘85! Black n Blue opening band. To me the highlight was Eric Carr’s drum solo. He had pre programmed guitar chords on his Simmons drums, and it made his solo very funky and musical. Also loved the updated KISS sign.

I think you did a fantastic job on Asylum, Bruce. All that flashy yet melodic 80's style guitar, some of it borders on Speed Metal like "I'm Alive" and "Love's A Deadly Weapon", your solo on "Tears Are Falling" is impressive. Then there's Eric Carr's fantastic drumming throughout.

This was MY Kiss. I got into them when the makeup came off, and felt it crystallized with you Bruce after the dalliances with Vinny & Mark. I was annoyed when this was jettisoned in favor of the makeup reunion (although I get it from a $ standpoint). Then I was pissed off when you weren't invited back after the reunion stuff fell apart. You should go out and do your own shows, and perform Carnival of Souls in full. ;)

The honor of the first comment! Great retrospective, Bruce! My biggest memory of this album is in Guatemala. We had just moved there from San Antonio, TX, and I always wanted to put music in my dad’s car.
