In our first episode, meet our expert team & learn the rules + lightweight quarterfinal full fights!
The Kumite will serve as a platform to try new and experimental combat inside the Karate Combat Pit. Imagine if Cobra Kai + Bloodsport + Karate Combat had a baby... it would be KUMITE!
Hosted by KC correspondent Alex Wendling, the series features a new amateur tournament format martial arts competition. Karatekas face off in The Pit with play-by-play commentator Ben "The Bane" Davis and color commentator / Karate Combat middleweight champion Ross Levine calling all the action. Our jury panel consisting of League President Adam Kovacs, KC Chairman & UFC Hall of Famer Bas Rutten and KC lightweight fighter & social media superstar Samuel Ericsson will judge the fighters' performance to decide which fighters move on and who will receive the coveted professional fighter contract with Karate Combat.
Fighters from India, Latvian training partners of Edgars Skrivers, American Top Team fighters, you name 'em - all the best up and coming fighters competing for a spot on the KC roster!

This is blooming interesting because it is a nice way for fresh faces to have a go at participating in Karate Combat. For that, I can only wish them a lot of fortitude, humility, abundance, passion, hope, discipline, and a wonderful attitude. Let's see how Kumite will rocket-launch to galactically Time Force levels of awesomeness, for this endeavor will be morphenomenal.

Was surprised chad took first match, his demo reel was impressive but didnt see any of that in practice, he seemed to be on the defensive all the time, his opponent had some great kick dodges but then started swinging wild haymakers didnt see much karate! Only one match in though so far, hope things improve!...and it did with a fantastic second match!

I like the second match, Shotokan vs Shito-Ryu. They both fight with clear, distinct, styles. A lot of technuques. But as a former shotokan junior athlete, I know shotokan is a very fast, high cardio style. Our kumites teach us to be patient and wait (defensive) for the right timing to find opening and launch kime (explosive attacks = blitz). Because if you keep fighting offensive and fast like the shotokan guy here and keeps failing to shake off the other guy’s balance to you will get tired really fast and that was what happened here. Nevertheless, kudos to both fighters for fighting hard and showing us a lot of techniques. Also loved the fact that the Shito-Ryu fighter went into his corner and got into a seiza when the referee was checking on his opponent. Very respectful and humble karate manner I love in traditional karate. Oss to all karatekas in KC!
@mythrin
@mythrin Жыл бұрын
Lots of techniques but all poorly executed, especially the Indian kid representing shotokan. He lacks the balance and body control to throw those kicks reliably and was constantly tripping over himself. His opponent won by just outclassing him with basic kickboxing.

I really don't envy the judges on these type of events. I love the fact that there are opportunities like this for amateur fighters, but at the same time, the people who decide who moves forward have a very difficult decision to make. There's a point at which the difference in skill is very minimal and I think these fighters are at the very cutting edge of where it's just a matter of minor improvements that make the world of difference in ranking. The change to becoming a pro is just a formality really.

Very intelligent perspective, i agree. Most of the compititors here had more combat fights than the Pros do. I was a lil sloppy when i dropped the guy, but I’m the most inexperienced there, most had at least of decade of competition in combat
