I am a 49 yr old woman that was raised in the Sierras of California just west of Lake Tahoe. My dad was not a sportsman hunting and fishing. We did grow up on the lake waterskiing. So I love water. I tried this recipe twice this week with my local catch. First time with a Kelp Greenling whole absolutely amazing. However I was the only one to clean my plate because of the small bones. So I did it again with the Rock Cod I caught the same day. But this time filleted , left the skin on and deboned. All clean plates!!! Tawny

After I heard your story in Fishpeople in 2017 I was so captivated by the underwater world you spoke about, and in awe of how spearfishing allowed you to provide for your family, that I finally convinced my spearfisher partner to take me diving with him- and I shot my first yellowtail a year later! Learning to freedive has been a great big beautiful challenge and I learn more about myself every time I go. Bringing food home directly from the ocean to share with my family makes me feel so unbelievably empowered and strong. Mahalo for showing me what was possible- without discovering your story I might still just be watching my partner bring home delicious food instead of going and getting it myself!
