We are Bengalis, we eat khichdi during monsoon accompanied with begun bhaja (fried brinjal), aloo bhujia, omlette/hilsa fish fry. During winter, khichdi is made with lots of veggies like aloo, phulgobhi, matar, broad beans, etc. And during durga puja, we have bhoger khichdi (prasad) served with labra (a medley of vegetables), with chutney, papad & kheer! Yes, we use spices in our khichdi (ginger paste, cumin, coriander, red chilli, turmeric powders) and for tadka, sabut jeera, tej patta & dried red chilli. And lastly, khichdi paratha with left over is a really very good idea, better not to waste & make it into a tempting recipe. And who doesn't like a masala paratha?!

I believe Khichdi is one of the most common and popular dishes in India, Each and every corner of the country one can find khichdi. Each state has its own recipe and flavors. I too love khichdi (dhuli moong wali) + fried papad + ghee (in big amounts) + achar + salad + raita etc. I never thought of khichdi paratha, looks nice and yummy.

The combination of dals reminded me of a south Indian rice dish called Bisibelebath. Some families use only toordal while some use mixture of toor , masoor and split moong with lots of vegetables!!!! Dear sir I have watch harlpalsing, sanjeekapoor an many other top chefs from India, and I can honestly say you are simply the best. I have to try this recipe right away it's mouthwatering. I came from the carribean to north america and can honestly say that the people of India are just great. I follow the drs like dr Ladd, dr Hedge, now I like listening to Luke Luhino just great knowledge, I just wish the people of India woul stop thinking the west is better, they only are good at stealing other people's ideas. I am a hardcore non-vegetarian but my most favourite food is my mom's home cooked khichdi with mango pickle,baingan ya alu ka bharta,paapad and teekhi green or kachche mango ki chutney.I love patli khichdi with peas,cauliflower,spinach,carrots etc. I loved this recipe and would definitely try it at home.

We are Bengalis.for us the best combination with the Khichdi is-papad, anchar, omelet/gondhoraj grilled bhetki and labra ( mixed vegetables). And we made the Khichdi with cauliflower, cabbage, tomato,peas, carrot, potato, small piece of coconut. In the Khichdi We use spices like: ghee, cumin seeds,dried red chili, bre leaves,hole garam masala, ginger paste, cumin powder, chopped green chili, little bit of garam masala powder. Your "masala paratha " idea is really awesome.

I m a hydrabaadi,we cook khichidi very differently,.just we fry onion with ghee ,ginger garlic paste garam masala and hara masala then we add water when it comes to boil adding rice and masoor dal. U r khichdi is very❣️😛😛 interesting love to cook with your style,,👌 thanks for your recipe,,👏👏

Sir we use onion , jeera, and green chilli ,cinnamon and bay leaves with desi ghee in tadka.And first we fry all the ingredients than add rice and daal.and we also add lauki (ghiya) in cubes which gives it a very good tatse.But your one is best 😊

He made this khichdi too watery. It was of the right consistency before he added extra water to the khichdi. Otherwise, the recipe is nice 👍🏽!

Khichdi is my most favourite food. I love khichdi in any form- dry like a pulao, semi solid or liquid as you made it, with moong daal, with urad black split daal or moong chhilka. Apart from ghee and achar, as accompaniment I love jeera aloo with khichdi, boiled, peeled and broken potatoes fried with heeng, jeera and chilli flakes. In my recipe of Khichdi, I like to keep North Indian and South Indian flavour apart. I use either jeera OR Rai, Curry Patta 7 nariyal flakes. They both taste good individually.

Hi chef .. Big fan of ur recipes .. Being a bengali My favorite version of khichdi is where i dry roast yellow moong daal on a low flame until light brown then boil it along with GobindobBhog rice with some salt .. Then in a different pan heat mustard oil add some cumin seeds & dried red chilli, into that shallow fry small cubes of desi cauliflower , carrot , & small amount of cabbage threads & into that add ginger & green chili paste , saute , & then tomato puree , add salt , 1 teaspoon of sugar haldi , green peas & saute , keep cooking untill masala seperates the oil & finally add the boiled rice & daal .. Mix & Cook for a bit switch off the flame add 1/4 teaspoon of cinamon powder mix & garnish with lots of ghee .. We like kichdi with fried hilsa (marinated with haldi, salt & mustard oil) & begni vaja ( brinjal slices dipped in batter ( besan, kalonji , salt, sugar, red chilli powder, haldi ) & deep fry ..
