Financial entrapment is why when divorce happens you split the resources, made so that mostly women, (but men can be financially entrapped too), will be able to leave an abusive situation without becoming houseless or cash poor. Oddly enough I've only dated one "submissive" guy who was abusive. All the others were just respectful, kind, intelligent, thoughtful and funny. Seems like this dude has ZERO idea what women want or like. I'm sure there are women out there that would be happy being treated like this. But I'm sure there others who really wouldn't be happy being treated like this. Also having a kid means you've done everybody on the block? I have a kid. But I'm mostly called a prude by men. Because i won't have sex with random guys. Because I've not had many partners. Idk its almost like women get bashed no matter what they do or don't do. We're constantly being given mixed messages on what we should be doing. "You need makeup" "you ok better without makeup" "you should have sex with me" "you're a slut for having sex with men" "you should be less promiscuous" "you're a prude no man will want a woman who won't give it up on the first date". Like guys.... PICK ONE FFS you can't have it both ways. It's not only obnoxious but it's also CONFUSING. Can women ever do anything right? Not trying to say that women also don't do this. But I feel like I see it less. Maybe that's my fault for not being in places where I see women doing this often. But from my point if view it seems like I just see more men than women doing this. It doesn't really seem like "dominant" guys even like women. Are we just a sex toys? Maybe someone needs to send this guy a doll. But he wouldn't likethat either. Becauseshe wouldn't take orders from him. If he keeps publicly being likethis he'll end up... Lonely or abusing someone. I hope he didn't end up abusing anyone.

Its really easy to say "just do you and don't care about other people". Its a lot harder to live that way. Trust me I know because I have lived that way. While I can't stop myself from feeling the things I feel I do what I want and dont outwardly show that I was hurt and confused. But that never make anything feel any better. Being myself and being treated badly for it didn't just magically stop hurting. I didn't get tougher. I am autistic and I don't think I have the capability to act like everyone else does. And while it's liberating in a way to not care what others say it's a lonely way to live. Everyone wants to be part of a community. Everyone wants to be accepted. I chose to not act on that instinct and be myself no matter what. I'm no better off for it though. We humans are pack animals. I assumed sex was the most important thing and I couldn’t even fathom the thought of a good man who respects their partner and never hurts them. I’ve been projecting that onto my partner since day one and I’ve only just started to notice the toll it’s taken on him and his self-worth. Excuse me, I need to go tell my man that I love him and appreciate him for never being any of those things.

"the ideal goal is for him to meet women who prove him wrong" puts the obligation to help him on women in a way im not comfy with. young women especially can be led to believe by a lot of popular media that just being nice enough to a guy will fix him and can easily fall victim to manipulation. it's clear that he already is preying on impressionable young women, which you rightly fault him for, but forwarding that sentiment and narrative about Good women fixing men is dangerous to the same group of people. he doesn't need to meet better women, he needs to realize the women he already knows and knows of are better than these caricatures.
@KuncanDastner3 жыл бұрын
oh I definitely didn't mean to imply that it's any woman's job to fix him- I said empathy is taught through experience, I only wanted him to be around people he could listen to and contextualize his misogyny. It's never on women to fix broken men like this, but I also don't think men can fix misogynistic men because there's no women involved in any of the growth. I don't claim to have all the answers, but I wanted to clear that up a little

I find that, when it comes to dealing with pain, people usually fall into one of two methods of thinking: the 'I had to deal with it, so you have to, too' and the 'I had to deal with it, so I don't want you to deal with it, too'. When a person who happens to be part of a marginalized group (or even a person who isn't) hurts you, you can decide whether you will become defensive of yourself by attacking that person and the group that they are a part of, or you can act against the societal structures and institutions that predisposed that person to pain, that pain possibly being the reason they hurt you (aka, they chose the first option that I described). Of course, the second option only occurs when the problem is more serious than 'a woman broke up with me because she didn't like me,' and marginalization actually plays a role in the problem. I think that this is a big difference between marginalization and activism, and the reason why people don't always choose activism is simplicity: it's easier to blame the individual, as well as the groups that they obviously belong to, than abstract notions such as structures that might be ingrained in you. Idk if this made any sense, and this is also just a theory, so I would love to hear anyone's thoughts. :)

I agree, it's a cycle and you can choose to keep feeding into it, or stop it. You can choose to just keep going with what you know and lashing out because you are hurt, or look inwardly at yourself to see if there is something you can change in your own mindset. It's tough but the outcome can be so worth it. Unfortunately a lot of people don't want to do the work, don't want to turn the mirror on themselves and I think it's because they don't want to see their own insecurities.

Also, every man who has ever insisted on paying after I asked to split the bill, has been abusive and expected something (🙄) in return, and then if/when I refused, “coincidentally” brought up how they paid xyz.
@Sarablueunicorn2 жыл бұрын
I'll tell you something. I lived in China and i went on multiple dinner dates with asian men, they always wanted to pay the bill, they would even be sneaky and pretend to go to the toilet and pay in advance because they were afraid that me a western white woman would insist in paying or splitting. Were some of these men interested in sex, yes! But they never throw at my face that they had pay for this and that, they would count their losses and move on. As I'm back in Europe, i realized how lazy and disgusting men act in dating apps, and after 1 year i agreed on a date in a public space not far from where i live (only 1 dude was up to it), he paid some meat buns and I paid drinks after. I have to mention that my bun was 6 euros and the wine was 3 euros, so in total he spent 3 euros (4 dollars) worth of a piece of bread. Later on he asked me to come over to have lunch at his place (i had made clear i wasnt up for casual sex or meet men at their places) when i declined he not so subtly told me "I paid your bun". Thing is even if i hadn't spent a cent with he would still feel entitled to request for sex, probably he would say "i spent my time walking with you". It really doesn't matter. If a man sees you as a sperm deposit he won't change this view because he paid or not for dates. If you agree in providing sexual services for free he will see you as a free wh*re', if you agree in providing sexual services after having him investing he will see you as a high value "wh*re". That's it.

I think a big problem with these,, you're not my mom, you don't deserve my love" men is sometimes the fact that their moms make idiots out of them, in the following way: a mother has a son, she may or may not have a daughter or two, but a son is valued more. Daughters are always forced to learn the ways of the household, cooking, cleaning, responsibilities, often if the daughter is the older sibling she is tasked with taking care of her younger brother or other siblings. The son is never tasked with this, either because he is younger or the mere fact he is a son so he isn't expected to be a caregiver other than money. The mother thus dotes and spoils her son, where he gets the message a woman is beneath him, (except for mom, ofc), doing chores is beneath him and he needs to be taken care of. Call this a hot take or an unpopular opinion, I think all human beings, regardless of gender identification should learn how to run a damn household, how to feed themselves and make food, how to clean, how to fix minor problems, because when you grow up, nobody will be expected to do those things for you. I know some people in the comments will say, oh don't blame the moms, it's the patriarchy, I agree, but SOME MOTHERS shouldn't further fuel the patriarchy by treating their daughters like shit for being born first or with a vagina, and should focus on inspiring change and equality as parents and people responsible directly for a new generation. I grew up in a family where both on my mom's and dad's side their moms made fools out of their younger sons, my uncle and my father are very juvenile in their ways of thinking and expect their sisters to take care of things, where moms berated and treated my mom and aunt like shit, but gave all their love to the sons. If there are any mothers of sons reading these, love your son, but please don't make a fool out of him by teaching him that the love and worth of a woman is only measurable in how obedient and serving she is. Please teach them to be wise and kind, to know how to cook and clean after themselves and to not be like the dude from tik tok.
