Lam can be done 108 times but the Ganpati mantra should be done four times at the start of your Muladhara work as it has 4 pertals - one for each of teh animal urges Fear Fight Food and F**k

The 1st chakra is stuck permanently on survival, fight or flight, instinctive negativity bias alert only to fitness points and potential threats, sympathetic mode, beta frequency. This generates resistance to sensual accommodation. There are two ways to neutralize this resistance Make it happen through physical exercise or let it happen and receive it as a gift as you shift to positivity bias, parasympathetic mode, alpha state by letting go and relaxing into it. This is necessary for the sexual energy of the 2nd chakra to emerge. The first step is involuntary and manual. The second step is half involuntary, half voluntary. The energy is instinctive and involuntary to the extent that it is instinctive yet it is also voluntary to the extent of personal preference and predilection. As the energy rises to the third chakra we reach a fork in the road where a choice has to be made because the third chakra is the center of volition, everything that can be done voluntarily at will. This choice is between fulfillment of lower impulses or higher impulses. Lower impulses seek immediate gratification and are inherently genetically dissipative. Higher impulses seek delayed gratification long enough to trade up, or trade in a lesser good for a greater good. This choice first presents itself in the transition from childhood to puberty. In ancient times rites of passage were performed to help insure the right choice would be made. Modern culture has lost that benefit. Dissipation has become the collective norm. But the choice is always before us. Either we ejaculate and the body dies genetically a little more each time from loss of genetic mass and vital life force, or we can choose to injaculate and live a little more abundantly each time. Ultimately it is a personal call. The energy is coiled 31/2 times because midway between the 2nd and 3rd chakra is the alpha/theta dreamtime interface, which is a point of transition or Passover from 2nd to 3rd, illustrated by flood stories. The second chakra's resistance is to being directed. The resistance is neutralized by commitment to a higher possibility. This unites the lunar energy of the second chakra with the solar energy of the third, which activates the will to aspire. The resistance of the third chakra is confusion, not knowing which way to go, to turn, which is neutralized by establishing a hierarchy of values with one's highest value leading. The energy then rises to the 4th chakra of valuation. Resistance of this chakra is the will to receive. This resistance is neutralized by converting the will to receive into the will to bestow by receiving to bestow happiness to the bestower as well as receiving the bestowal in good grace without shame for being on the receiving end, since we all grow up knowing it is better to give than receive. This is the foundation of compassion. This raises the energy to the fifth chakra of breath and speech. The resistance of this chakra is to correcting error. It will project blame to avoid correction. This resistance is neutralized by recognizing and accepting that correction is the way of learning, not an isolated occurrence to be avoided at all cost but rather welcomed as a milestone marker of our progress.This raises the energy, hopefully in a torrent by now to activate the pineal gland complex and open up the right hemisphere. The torrent or flood of energy now removes the stone covering the furnace or fornix releasing the chrism or Christ or claustrum along with serotonin and melatonin and dmt for a cocktail of cosmic proportions. The energy then rises to the crown chakra where being aware of being aware like a little child we attain equivalence of form with the cosmos and receive to bestow the gifts of the Holy spirit or spirit of wholeness: inspiration for the heart, insight for the mind, well-being for the body and empowerment for the will. These are the four rivers in the garden of Eden myth.

Thanks Rajeev, The Linga is both representative of the Pineal Gland and the cosmic male symbol of passive consciousness which needs Shakti ito activate it or the cosmic Phallus. The earliest Lingas found in India were the rounded stones in the Himalayas and Narmada river and also the stone carvings in Guddimalam Andhra Pradesh and Allahabad and many otehr sites in South India as early as 500 BCE - these carvings were certainly Phalluses - see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gudimallam. The pronunciation of this Manta by the Kaula Tantra (Sri Vidya Upasana) tradtion in South India is exactly like this and was given in an initiation to me by Guruji Amritananda of Devipuram. I am also a Brahmin and initiated into Kriya Yoga and Vigyan Bhairav Tantra as well. As a Brahmin from the North, you will feel a slight difference and that is understandable.
