Hiyaa!!! I hope you like my first ever original animation. I've got some stuff planned about it. So if this goes successful. I might do a second Kuneho animation ^^

2:22 idk if anyone picked up on it, but the monster in disguise had an ear lifted up indicating it heard it's companion in the distance (showed a few seconds prior) before dropping into an emotionless and nonreactive state (the wind didn't affect it compared to everyone else) before attacking. Just that little detail made me have chills of how intelligent those things are.

I absolutely LOVE that we filipinos are getting a really good presentation of our culture thanks to SAD-ist who is a filipino herself. The backgrounds are so gosh darn accurate and I’ve seen some mythological creatures that i’m familiar with such as tikbalang, kapre and more. I love every frame and details you put into this SAD-ist! I’m a filipino, and I want to explain everything in this animation here. Kuneho is Bunny in tagalog which explains the designs of the characters. And the lore behind this is based on an old Philippine folklore, I think the monsters are based on the “Aswang” the most famous philippine mythical creature, which is a monster that is a vampire and a wolf combined together that can shapeshift and disguised as a human being. There was this one old filipino movie where there was a traitor amongst the village which is an aswang disguised, but I could be wrong. The monsters could be a mananaggal, but they only target pregnant women I think. The world building of the city is based on sari sari stores and poor homes stacked together. I don’t know if the symbols are from igorot tattoos or from another filipino tribe. And I want to say that this is the best animation comparing to the filipino tv shows and animations from GMA ngl. I hope to see more on Kuneho.

Where the yellow bug shied away from the monster campfire stories even though the other bugs seem intrigued or delighted which we just assumed to be the bug being the scaredy cat of the group.

I really want this to be made into a full fledged game , cute fights monstrosity type of thing , it could either be a very well stylized 2D game like Hollow Knight , or a 3D one like Ōkami , with a vague story alike to Journey for example , maybe a Souls-like even , open world , or chapter based ! The possibilities are endless , you get the point , especially since the video doesn't show much leaning to one aspect over another , Love the art direction , as well as the music. I think it's based on the monsters here in the Philippinesbcalled "aswang". They look and act human in the morning but turn into monsters at night which makes one rabbit turning into a worm make sense. There are different types of "aswangs" but the first one we saw is a Manananggal. (SAD-ist might've got inspiration there). It detaches its lower and upper half making it harder to hunt. Their upper body is winged while their lower body is hidden in the forest. They are mostly female and they feast on unborn babies. You can kill them by putting salt/sand on their lower half. Not entirely sure if she got direct inspiration but that was the first thing I thought of when watching it.

First off, the animation is austounding, second: I think the first monster introduced that had wings was probably a manananggal. Shapeshifters that discard their lower half at night to hunt, while blending in during daylight. The second ones, the ones that crawl are probably aswangs, or ghouls that shapeshift aswell, but can only hunt during night since they burn in daylight. The creature surrounded by the trees on the first seconds of the vid might be a kapre, not sure about the goat man with a spear so... the person shown in the last section might be a shaman, or an amulet(agimat) holder, perhaps even a (trece) or warriors who fight against the dark forces in phillipine mythology, the emphasis on the moon, means that its the time when these creatures come out, cause filipinos have a belief if the moon is full and bright yellow, the darkness is at its peak, hence why the monsters come out, anyways thats all I know, amazing animation, Mabuhay! Edit: I just read from another comment that the words from the mask head is read tikbalang which is a half man half horse creature in the phillipines, so it wasn't a goat mask at all lol.

It's nice that she doesn't feel restricted to making only dream SMP animatics and can make whatever she feels like making.

I love how Sadist used Baybayin as language in 3:32 and in the end of the animation! Sadist's animation is truly amazing and splendid! Continue the good work!

Not Filipino, but I’m pretty sure it’s used throughout most of the video too

This feels like when I watched something truly mysterious and graceful as a young child, such as a movie I thought I might never forget; The Secret of Kells, perhaps, or Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. This, I realize, is better. More does it tell a story than any movie could leave to skepticism and one’s mind, and less does it cut down for merely the convenience of cinematic experience. I am enthralled with your work, SAD-ist, and I cannot wait to seek your next illustrations.

@Oregano, OH MY GOD YOU TOO?? I loved those movies (and When Marnie Was There) but nobody ever wanted to watch them and my family didn’t like them for some reason. I had to watch them on myself if I wanted to see those movies

I like the detail at 2:22 where the yellow guy lifts his ear and goes completely still, while everyone else is shocked by the wind.

@@kanachingu it’s the most replayed part because of the monster transformation that occurs immediately after and not cause of the ear movement or this comment lol. Still, it was a nice detail.

Well, from such a talented creator as SAD-ist, another masterpiece being created was inevitable... The animation and music are as always incredible, but this time there was so much hidden lore added! Simply astounding :D

The fact that the Yellow one looked down when the story about the monsters was being told... AAAAHHHH why is this so good!? I hope that everyone who was hurt in the Typhoon can stay safe and get enough support and help to recover from what they've gone through.

While I probably lack the knowledge and context to truly appreciate the story behind this animation, I can say without the shadow of a doubt that this is a brilliant work of art. The animation is fluid, the color choices are masterful, and the character designs are incredibly simple, but convey so much emotion. Thank you for making this and sharing it with the rest of us.
