As someone who was adopted, this movie means a great deal to me. It very accurately depicts what it feels like to have such a painful void in your life and the difficulty of expressing that feeling when facing your adopted family. I was lucky enough to be adopted into a loving family that was every part of a family one would need, but i definitely had a period of time struggling to see that. Eventually, one finds inner peace by facing the truth and accepting that even though i may not have had a happy beginning, doesn't mean I can't be happy with the life ive been given.

I’m adopted as well, from less than a month old, so absolutely the people who raised me are my parents. I was lucky to be adopted by some pretty amazing people, and they were always very open with me and my sister from a very young age that we were both adopted so we never really had that existential crises of feeling like we didn’t belong, but I can totally understand why that could be an issue. I’ve always felt that it’s extremely important for children to know as early as they are able to comprehend that they were adopted and what that means. It really helped the both of us to be at peace with it long before we got to the point where teenage angst could rear its head. We never even really had any interest in finding our biological parents until we were well into our 40s. My sister found both of hers through Ancestry dna testing and I found my father the same way, and while she did get in contact with hers and found out more about the circumstances of her birth I’ve never gotten in contact with mine. I know enough about my parents from adoption records to know that they were both teenagers when I was born, and so I felt that, since he clearly had a whole life built with somebody else and a whole family of his own (also seen through ancestry), I didn’t want what was clearly an adolescent mistake to become a potential wedge in his current life situation. I felt that if he (or my 3 half brothers and sisters) had any interest in dredging up the past, they are more than welcome to contact me, but it’s not my place to approach them.

@@calibadgerdude6082 thank you for sharing. And I'm so glad that you were able to find peace so quickly. I agree with you, total transparency with adoption is crucial. However, I do understand when people decide to wait. I'm a Korean born, adopted into a white American family. I didn't really need to be told. Again, I was extremely lucky to be adopted into a wonderful family and I would not trade my life with them for the world. My parents were also teenagers, and my birth father left long before I was born. Because of that, it's unlikely he knows I exist. These feelings of abandonment hit me hard when I was a teenager and brought questions of who I am and the kind of person I was becoming. Its hard to put into words why it was so difficult, but I eventually became at peace with the fact that even though I might not have had the easiest beginning and I may not know much about the people I came from, I don't need to know to be who I want to be. I know who I am and that is enough. My parents have always been supportive of giving me the opportunity to find some answers. And while I'd love to know about my family, I'm afraid of getting hurt or hurting someone else. I don't need to know to be happy.

not to mention the fact that of the movie villains so far, Shen is the only one of them to take Po seriously from the start specifically because he is a panda; Tai Lung and [blank], to various extents, mock and underestimate Po for his species, and only start taking him (somewhat) more seriously when he starts demonstrating some kung fu technique or other, but Shen is just the opposite. There might be a moment or two where he mocks or underestimates Po, but from just hearing of the survival of even one panda, Shen immediately takes Po as a serious threat, not because he is a kung fu master, the title 'Dragon Warrior' never even passes his beak and only ever refers to him as 'panda', but because of what Po is, not because of his achievements or titles, even if Po were just a janitor or a chef, Shen would have still seen Po as a threat.

@@ronweber1402 true, but he also never seems to regard Po as an actual impediment to his goals, only appearing to get intimidated when Po gets his chi boost, similar to Tai Lung, who only truly gets scared when the (however you spell it) finger hold comes into play, whereas Shen is immediately rattled by the notion (shortly followed by confirmation) of a surviving panda, and all the way up to his first meeting with Po, feigns an air of confidence to mask the very real fear he has that this panda could actually defeat him

AHHH that actually makes a lot of sense since, in the Kung Fu Panda videogame for the PS2, you fight the wolves as the main thugs for Tai Lung throughout the game. I always thought the developers must've had inside knowledge that the wolves would be in the 2nd movie since the game came out way before the 2nd film, but the idea they used them for an alternative storyline for the game since they were scrapped from the first film makes total sense.

Favorite detail is how Shen goes out: The prophecy says that he will be defeated by a warrior of black and white. @@loftyguy11 I think it’s because of the method that was used to send him there being the reason why some people state that he isn’t dead. Spoiler: It’d has some merit since Po himself was sent to the Spirit Realm using the same technique that sent Tai Lung there and yet he still managed to return back, therefore it stands to reason why some people believe Tai Lung was merely “sent” to the Spirit Realm rather than him actually being unalive and ending up there as a result. It’s kinda like how Yugioh treats their graveyard gameplay mechanic; being “sent to the graveyard” is fundamentally different from when a card is “destroyed” and normally goes to the graveyard as a result of gameplay mechanics despite both methods achieving the same end result of cards ending up in the graveyard.

This one and HTTYD 2 are one of the best sequel animated movies!!! I truly love this movie, specially with some details... When he DREAMED his parents and the attack to the village for the first time, it was 2D; because it was something of his "imagination/a dream" (as his dream in the 1st movie)... But when he finds his inner peace and truly accept what HAPPENED to his family, it is shown in 3D, because it has come his reality, a part of his life...

One detail I love that a lot of people seem to miss is that the opening of this movie is pretty much a copy of the dream opening of the first movie. PO is literally living his dream! Down to the Feet of Fury moves he does. I also love that this sequel does not do what so many others do and reset the MC back to a similar situation as the first one so he can redo the same development again. No, he's still close friends with the 5 and is still a kung fu master on the level of the best alive as we see when he fights both Croc and Rhino at the same time. Nothing's been reset the the writes have to find an entirely different plot and challenge for him, which they do brilliantly.

I love just how much the group has accepted Po. In the first movie, they wouldn't stop ripping on him, and Tigress was the most blunt with him, not caring for his feelings at all. But then in this one, as you pointed out, their teamwork is incredible. With just that wheel scene in the city, Mantis launches Tigress so that she can in turn launch Po. Back in the Musician's Village, I can't remember which of them throws him, but then Crane catches him after the Feet of Fury. And of course, Tigress being so incredibly open with Po. She's patient and understanding. I really REALLY want to know more about the backstories of the Five, as they really haven't explained much of that in these movies. I think the only bit we get is Tigress explaining the story of Tai Lung, and we see young Tigress feeling how distant Shifu was after his failure with Tai Lung. And that's it, that's our backstory. Why do we not see other tigers? Other mantises? Monkeys? Cranes? Snakes? I'm also curious if they have actual names, because a lot of the Masters are just named whatever animal they are, with exceptions of Oogway, Shifu, Po, and Tai Lung. But everybody else it's just Master Ox, Master Croc, Master Rhino, and the many more you'll see in the next movie.

2 is my favorite but 3 is sort of even better, mainly in the way it builds upon the first two so perfectly.

There's a theory that the warrior of black&white was referring to Shen instead if Po and that he destroyed himself. I repeat: A THEORY!

I've just watched both of your Panda reactions back to back - it's been awhile since I originally saw the movies. Great reaction as always, I had forgotten how deep they pushed the emotional story in this one, so good.

Before watching the movies, if someone had told you that you might get weepy at a Jack Black movie, you'd have looked at that person like they had 3 heads. But these movies are just so well done, well written, and well acted. Also, going by the reaction to the tease at the end of the movie, someone's off to watch 3 very soon.

Shen's fighting style is very loosely based on fan-fighting, where paper fans are used to distract and misdirect opponents. Of course, the big sword and throwing knives also help! Edit: Also, we learn more about Tigress' backstory in the short Secrets of the Furious Five. TL;DR, she grew up in an orphanage, feared by the other children for her strength and anger. She truly believed she was a monster until Shifu adopted her.

Hey! a long time viewer of this channel and luv every one lolz. this movie hits me hard every time… the last relationship I had being engaged for 3 yrs only to find she had stepped out on me the entire time wus soul crushing….. so in many ways this one keeps helping me come to terms with tht loss and get closer to understanding it a little bit more…. but I blamed myself for the longest time too…..

Po throwing the fireballs back has some beeg BEEG Zuko redirecting the lightning vibes. Letting the lightning/trauma pass over/through him and releasing the negative energy/pain back at its source. Not to kill or maim though, only to stop, defeat, or otherwise escape from the source of pain who refuses to ever grow or change.

Thank goodness Po came into Mr Ping's life. If not, he would not have made the life changing decision to make his soup without radishes. Oh yeah, and also to raise him as his son.
