Somebody should tell Dylan that pandas are literally one of the least capable animals on this planet. They're so dumb and just ready to unalive themselves, it's ridiculous. So it makes sense that they all think it's weird that he is the dragon warrior. Which makes his transformation throughout the movie so much more satisfying. He doesn't defeat Tai Lung with traditional Kung Fu and fighting, he does it in a way only a Panda could. He does it his way and he is just unapologetic himself....there is literally no secret ingredient. I love this movie so much...it is pure serotonin. Edit: Also this is not me dissing Pandas, they're cute and should be protected but it is a fact that they're giant idiots with no self preservation whatsoever 😅

The teacher may have had a role but that never means he meant for his student to turn physically violent. While I understand the villain's anger for being set up to be the dragon warrior to only be disappointed for not being selected, that never means lashing out that anger physically against someone to the point of hurting and almost killing his teacher. I think the teacher took too much responsibility for his actions while the villain took none. I think he blames himself for not noticing some red flags from the villain prior and wishes he could have guided him in a better path. Unfortunately, in the end, it's the villain's choice to attack.

Dylan basically predicting the movie but still having a great time shows that tropes and writing predictable/obvious story beats are not inherently bad.
@jackierosas95932 жыл бұрын
It’s kinda reminds me of what George RR Martin says about storytelling, specifically mysteries. You write a mystery in which the butler’s the killer. You plant clues to show the butler did it. Say you show the story to your friend, the friend guesses halfway through the butler’s the killer. What are you to do? You decide to make the maid the killer. But you don’t change the rest of the story. Wrong move. All that build up shows that the butler is the killer. It doesn’t make sense that the maid did it. In short, a story with proper build up, however predictable, is better than a story trying to be unpredictable for unpredictability’s sake. Story beats and archetypes exist for a reason, as seen in The Hero of a Thousand Faces, we see the same stories across cultures across generations with different tweaks throughout. Idk why I said all that, Hahha. I guess I have George RR on the brain 🤣 Anyway, I agree with what you said.

Dylan not knowing that pandas are, indeed, the dumbest bear out there is the funniest thing ever. This is an INCREDIBLY detailed series. And they did REALLY well with it. It’s true you called a lot of story beats, even down to the lines, but this was such an intelligent film that blew people away. Shifu is a Red Panda. The Furious 5 are all after actual styles of combat, and each use them like their own animal instead of them being purely stand ins for people. And Po learned Dragon Style. Bears are among the best land predators on earth. Definitely the best one on our continent. Tigers are the true kings of the jungle over lions honestly. And I’d say Bears are in their wheelhouse. Pandas I feel are much LESS powerful bears, but they are bears nonetheless. So there is reason to doubt him since they are notoriously lazy animals. Crocodiles are hard to categorize. So let’s just hold them different as reptiles. Snow Leopards are ferocious no doubt, and 20 years goes to show how well he was trained. Reflexes don’t dull, and he was carrying those huge boulders on both sides when his body was trained to hold such weight. Not to mention the position he was forced in would require a strong core and legs. So yeah. Aside from the eating (which they state isn’t a factor for whatever reason) remaining in such a position of captivity actually could be seen as physically beneficial. Like a forced yoga pose. Plus subtle movements seem to be as much his specialty as brute force. And also Tai Lung was shown to be a prodigy with few flaws as he grew up in combat. So getting constantly praised kept him reaching higher and higher until he fell into a state of entitlement. Which is why he broke. The animation is stellar, and it’s totally worth watching the 2nd and 3rd movies.

@@HerHollyness or maybe its because when you watch a lot of movies/tv shows you get accustomed to common tropes and storylines. Kung Fu Panda is so god damn easy to see the direction of where its going if youve watched an average shounen anime or other martial arts movies. Its just as likely that Dylan is just good at predicting plot points as it is that he's faking his reactions.

Tbf the plot really isn’t that innovative to not make some good guesses (he also made some wrong ones) when you’ve got a good knowledge of storytelling structures and patterns after consuming a lot of fiction of any media. I read and watch a bunch too and his guesses reminded me of jokes and tropes that I saw employed in stories so I wasn’t surprised when it turned out he was accurate.

He also made several predictions that were slightly inaccurate or even outright wrong, so it's not that surprising. I had a similar experience watching a new anime for the first time, predicting kind of an insane number of random details in the first few episodes off of nothing but my knowledge of cliches/tropes/patterns and careful attention to the deliberate foreshadowing. The short answer is that there are just a lot of patterns in how stories turn out, and becoming aware of them allows you to make predictions that are typically accurate. But don't let the brain's automatic biases make you forget all of the wrong guesses amidst the correct ones. It's such an easy trap to fall into, and it leads to strange conclusions sometimes.

I refuse to believe there are ppl who haven't watched these movies when they came out
@riluna36952 жыл бұрын
@@Emma-jq3lf Is it safe to assume this is a joke comment? On the off-chance it isn't... Not every person is going to watch every movie. That fact should be self-evident just from the sheer amount of them there are. So each person has their own reasons for which ones they watch and which they skip. And there's no movie on this planet exempt from the possibility of being passed over for long periods of time. You can still find people who've never seen Star Wars, or Harry Potter, or played any Pokemon games. So for Kung-Fu Panda to be passed over by at least one person for this long is not unreasonable by any stretch of the imagination. There's even the possibility of people intentionally staying away from such things specifically to make youtube content like this where they watch it after the fact. I have no idea if this person did that or not, but it's simply one more explanation on the pile of how it might have happened the way it did. It seems a very strange thing to me to outright refuse the possibility of, when so many options exist. Of course, all of this is assuming that you're serious when you say this. If you're not, this entire comment is wasted. But I don't mind either way.

So many neat facts about this film. Even so far as the colors. Tai Lung has gold eyes because gold is deemed for only the dragon warrior and he views himself as the dragon warrior. His color is blue. When he goes up the prison, each level loses its red hue and has a blue shade to indicate he has taken it down. And red represents all heroes. The torches had a red hue, but the tiger also wears red to show how much she cares. As well, Tai Lung was once not considered scary enough. Originally, he hadn't laid waste to the valley. In test screenings, many children felt bad for him. He was promised a thing, didn't get it, tried to steal it, then was put in prison for 20 years. It felt excessive. The turtle shell that Tai Lung is trapped in is made with acupuncture. Making it so he can't move. You'll learn about chi later on, at least, Kung Fu Panda's version of chi. They talk about how one needs to find inner peace and to spend time alone to find it. While I don't think he exactly achieved inner peace and he hasn't mastered chi, it is an example of how staying still can add to your strength in this universe. Using breathing techniques to work out the body as well. Annnnd despite how people usually feel about the 3rd movie, I enjoy it a lot. Even more the second movie. I'm kinda sad that they're making a 4th, as the 3rd felt like a proper send off.
