Po was chosen to be the dragon warrior because oogway was healed by pandas and was taught chi by them. He saw how gracious the pandas were so he knew po, the panda with an unfulfilled destiny was to become the dragon warrior. Or he's just a crazy old turtle we don't know

Tai-Lung and Chen both represent their respective styles of Kung-Fu as well. Tai-Lung is panther, Chen uses crane/eagle(peacock isnt a style, but theres 2 birds in Kung-Fu) Panther is aggressive, but calculated and planned, Crane is graceful, full of flowing movements and is sometimes paired with a weapon, mostly a sword.

In the first movie, Tigress was the narrator and explained how Master Ooguay could not have guessed what Tai Lung was plotting, so the theory about Oogway purposely leaving an orphan child in front of a temple doesn’t seem very right to me....

It's really sad because when you think about it, given a chance, Tai Lung could've been a great hero and even an ally to Po but due to his suffering he fell on the dark side. And no one tried to help him. Oogway just rejected him on his face and said he has darkness in his heart which I'm sure must've hurt a lot. Moreover Shifu didn't even take his side to tell Oogway about the goodness Tai Lung had inside him nor did he console him in any way. What next, he was sent to prison for 20 years and Shifu didn't even visit him once. From Tai Lung's perspective it must've felt as if he got abandoned yet again, the same way he was abandoned when he was a cub. I feel Oogway being so wise could've done something to help Tai Lung rather than just rejecting him and making a villain out of him just to motivate Po.

That sure is a nice theory. And it sounds legit/like something, the characters would do. I might have some answers to your questions (however, they don't have tp be correct): - if Oogway has forseen everything (what isn't too far fetched), that would also explain all his actions. - since he is the wisest character in the franchise, he basically knows everything. Not only historically but also psychologically. - he didn't intervene because to make Shifu grow, he needed failure. But as you said, parenting is a good way towards inner peace since it demands/causes an immense personal growth. Shifu had to be emotionally involved with the training to learn about the downsides of it. He had to horribly fail. Just to learn how to trust again. He had to make mistakes (see Tigress) to do better with Po. Also, Po needed a motivation. A real threat that only the Dragon Warrior could overcome. So Tai Lung was raised to be that opponent. - Also, just as you said, Shifu had to let go of control. He had to entrust Po, his student, to manage that situation on his own. Shifu needed to have trust/faith in his teacher, his student but also in himself. That might be the reason, why Oogway extracted himself from Shifu. He wanted Shifu to be independent. Not longer to rely on an old turtle. Oogway entrusted him with the fate of the village. And he knew/believed, he would succeed. - Also, as I've seen somewhere else, there is a theory that Tai Lung only escaped because Oogway said so. Shifu only sent the bird after Oogway told him of his vision. And that action was what caused Tai Lungs escape. All careful planning?

Thanks for re-uploading this because I didn't get to listen to it the first time around. Oogway is definitely someone who can be theorized in many ways. But I have to wonder if at some point OOgway was evil or only interested in power, others be damned. He led a great army and was brothers in arms with Kai before imprisoning him. But look how Kai introduced himself. “The master of pain. Beast of vengeance. Maker of widows.” That sounds like a dangerous person to be around yet he was one of Oogway's closest friends. Could the master have another reason for erasing Kai from history? Perhaps to hide is own faults for befriending a guy who enjoyed making families fatherless and wives widows? Also it explains why Kai was so dismissive of Tigress. Kai doesn't see females as warriors and since she had no husband warrior for him to kill, thought she was useless. So I guess we can one day do a theory on Oogway's past self and maybe Kai and sexism? Either way, thanks for this awesome video.

Theorizer! I recently watched the movie Kung Fu Panda and some things have been bothering me. One, how did Tai Lung wake up? the movie shows that with a feather Tai Lung picked the locks on his chains and was able to escape, but how was he able to move in the first place? The commander Vachir (the rhino) said "I have him COMPLETELY immobilized". Was this just something said to make Tai Lungs escape more of a surprise, or could it be something more... could commander Vachir somehow be involved in Tai Lungs escape? If not how was Tai Lung able to move? The second thing I was wondering about is if Master Oogway's stick is the same stick as Jack frosts from the movie "Rise of the Guardians". These questions have been bothering me. I'm wondering if could possibly answer them? Please make a theory video on the movie Kung Fu Panda and answer/add on to my questions/theory!

Which consisted of master shifu, elephant,snow leopard etc. in this team,one member was stronger than the rest,and this member eventually thought she should be stronger,and thus fought and tried to kill oogway to become the new leader of the furious five. Oogway probably saw this is what tai lung wound try to do,and thus rejected him as the dragon warrior

The thing is, if Destiny is in fact set in stone as the seriessays it is, then Oogway couldn't have done anything to change anything in the end. If Destiny dictates prophesy and Po vs Kai was always going to happen, then everything that happens in the series is preordained. As Oogway say himself "Illusion of control", he himself isn't exempt from this fact, he has no power to change it nor does he have any say in the matter, all he could do is play out his role and exit when he wasn't needed anymore.

Funny enough both Oogway and Po have green eyes. Also, Po's real name is Lotus which is also a flower known to grow in muddy water and still have a beautiful flower. whish I think is so cool because he grew up a poor, orphaned panda (I know he isn't actually an orphaned but that wasn't known until the third film) who was looked down upon as dirty, lowly and unworthy and rose to become respected, kind and a ledgendary warrior. If master oogway had planned everything, could that mean that when he predicted tai-lung would escape, he literally did it to make him escape. i always did wonder how tai-lung got there, and its a good point on who would take the stairs to leave a baby at the palace instead of the local homes. In the kung fu panda: legends of awesomeness, Po was training a kid leopard who claimed to be tai lungs nephew and said he was looking for him. Based on that, my guess is that tai-lung was kidnapped/somehow was transported to the village (similar to Po) after that, oogway found him, took him to the jade palace, and left him at shifu's doorstep. Just a theory since the lack of evidence.

Fun cultural fact, in the Kung fu panda movies they each showed so far three of China's five most important mountains (heng mountain, other heng mountain, tai mountain, song mountain, and hua mountain) you can tell by the jade palace with his resembles a temple on tai mountain, the peacock's palace on the mountain which resembles the temples on the northern heng mountain, and the very extreme and dangerous trail to get to the panda village that is like the famously dangerous trail to get up mountain hua.

Well I don't know, I think that oogway wans't able to decide when to die, otherwise he would have stay alive to train the dragon warrior himself, also I think that he saw on tai lung the potential to become the dragon warrior, but since the training turned him into something vicious and aggresive, he decided to go with somethign with more gentle and humble nature, like po.

In the first movie, Oogway says in response to Shifu's news about Tai Lung's escape, "That IS bad news," then adds, "if you don't believe the dragon warrior will be ready." So Oogway can be surprised. And if I was making a theory, I would theorize that Oogway was surprised that Tai Lung could be so evil and bloodthirsty, but unlike Shifu, who couldn't move against him, Oogway could and did take him down. Now the more interesting question would be to explain Shifu. How could he stay in the same temple with Oogway knowing he'd imprisoned his adopted son? How could he find inner peace knowing that Po had just killed his adopted son? And why didn't Po have the noodle dream?

I always saw the films and the main villains as representations of the main traits of a person, which are spread through Chinese mythology and literature. The Three Aspects - Body, Mind and Soul/Spirit. Think about it, first film, it was the body, Po, a fat panda that needed to believe in himself and his abbilities to defeat Tai-Lung. Second movie with Shen - the images of the symbol that Po saw on his feathers were messing with his mind, his past, and he needed to come to terms with it, which he did eventualy and managed to defeat Shen. And the third with Kai, representing the Soul/Spirit. Wanting to control the Chi and the energy of the living, not just their minds and bodies, but their spirit. Very deep meanings indeed. That is why Kung Fu Panda is my favourite animated film.

I'm pretty sure someone has already pointed this out, but in defense of your theory, right before the Dragon Warrior is chosen in the first movie Oogway outright tells Shifu that the Dragon Warrior will "bring peace, not only to the valley, but also to you my old friend." So just thought I'd lend my words here and say keep it up, I've seen a couple of your videos and the theories are interesting at the very least.

but the big question here is why is Oogway so fixated on Shifu and his ability of inner peace it said in the TV series that Shifu was dropped off at the Jade Palace by his con artist father when he was but a young child and adopted Tai Lung when he was a young man and by the end of the first movie towards the second he was able to master inner peace which took him years to accomplish which probably got speed up due to Poe but again why do you believe higuey is so fixated on Shifu achieving inner peace it could go without saying that he was trying to kill multiple birds with one stone and that's stone happen to be Tai Lung I actually feel bad for that pussycat if this is the case

Oogway doesn't need to be a Master Mind plotting things out to make the choices he has, and his philosophy "their are no accidents " falls in line with eastern philosophy of Wu Wei, the view that nothing chips away hard rock like water, or going with the flow. If he had actually planned all this out his telling Shifu to give up the illusion of control would be hypocritical.

No, stupid. Tai Lung was dropped of at a kung fu school because the real kung fu schools, the Shao Lin temples, were one of the few places that would take in orphans, raising them as monks and teaching them kung fu along the way. this has led to the "orphan dropped off at the temple" trope in Kung Fu movies.

I've been thinking about something. What if at the end of the first film, Tai Lung was redeemed? What if, after learning the truth of the scroll, he realized his actions were selfish and that this isn't what he wanted. Seeing this, he decides to go on a journey of redemption, helping villages as he goes and reinvent himself. How would the rest of the movies go? I can't help but feel as if the film directors just decided to retcon him out of the story, as he was defeated (and presumably sent to the spirit realm) in the first film, and therefore won't be present for the other films. That's another thing. If he was sent to the spirit realm, why didn't we see anything of him in the third film?
