Their showroom is usually packed and the salespeople are indeed very professional. All of them are into watches in general and they will explain every function of the watch when you buy. It’s really a cool experience - something that luxury watch retailers actually should take a page off of. I got an old smith back in Dec 2024 when I visited. Nothing but compliments. They also threw in an extra strap for free for all of the customers!

My son and I were at this store some days after grand opening in may 2024. Great store, very nice sales persons and amazing watches for reasonable prices. We both love to wear our KUOE watches. Highly recommend to step in ... Btw. beautiful watch, that you've choosen.

Thanks for this. I completely agree with your assessment of the watch purchasing experience at the flagship store in Kyoto. I purchased the Old Smith larger (38mm) in bronze, ref. 90-002L, green dial. I believe the calibre is the Seiko NH38. Love the vintage British field watch esthetic. Excellent purchase experience and value. I was out the door, including a butterfly strap closure for $429.00 USD. I love what these guys are doing!

Family lives in Tokyo but definitely going to head up to Kyoto to buy a piece at Kuoe next time I visit. The new Sombrero looks amazing

If you want an old rusty vibe I recommend Italian vintage green leather strap 😊

Nice one ! They've great watches . Denture cleaning tablets in water will take the patina off very well . I prefer the patina .

By The Way, I also have a slim wrist. If you’re looking at Speedys but the 42 mm dial is too large check out the new Heuer Carreras. Lateral clutch/column wheel, 33 jewels…….and 39 mm! Called the Glass Box. I got the gorgeous blue dial with the date at the 6:00. Has 100 M wr to boot so………give it a look!

Pretty sure when u order online ur given a really nice looking leather case for the watch. Could be where that extra cost goes

If you're referring to the leather travel case, you also get that if you buy a watch in store.

Wow almost impulse and bought online. I told myself I would get in person but it’s hard to resist. But if it’s much cheaper in person then maybe it’s better to experience that whole watch buying experience

Thank you for making the video, I’ve been eyeing this piece. Was this the 35mm or 38mm model? I’m more tempted to buy now that they offer a 38mm version. Also did the 5 look a bit misaligned to anyone else or maybe just an angle of the video.

A year ago my dad gave me his late friend's 1969 Seiko 5 which made me remember how much I appreciate classic, understated, sleek Japanese watch designs. A couple months ago I decided to get a passport and burn some airline miles and as a joke I said "maybe I'll fly to Japan and get a couple Seikos." As luck would have it I saw a Kuoe ad a day or so later. Makes it easy to plan an itinerary... but man this is turning into an expensive joke about flying for free around the world to buy a watch 😂

Watches made in the more classic sizes of the past because that is the style they are recreating. So no, it’s not for small folks, it’s for the more discriminating buyer that harken for the look of the past that our grandfathers wore.
