@@BruceWilliams yeah, there’s a massive difference in someone having watch ADHD and someone who is buying a watch solely to resell it at a higher price. The former most of us can relate to.

I really wanted to like this watch... It looked so cool on the website, I placed my pre order... But when I got it I was some what disappointed. Maybe it's because I was expecting GS level watch making? The fit and finish was OK, the movement was loud... It just reminded me of my old Orient Bambino, which was like 150 dollars.

Amazing piece, Bruce. I'm very impressed by what Hajime Asaoka has been doing lately, design wise, especially these dials. Soft and subtle beauties! For anyone thinking of buying this piece for 6k in the secondary market, also take a look at the JLC Master Grand Talle ref. 140889, similar 37mm size, similar case shape and crystal curvature, and with the legendary 889/2 movement. They range 4.5-5K.

You can actually find this version for $2-3k… there were many more of this version produced because it was basically for sale for how ever many ordered it in that 10 minute window..I’m sure there are a few thousand out there. I received mine after about 7 month wait. Agree with Bruce very pretty dial but strap is pretty lame. I’m stilling looking for alternatives.

Wow, that's a beauty! Sad that Kurono Tokyo (little typo in your title btw. Bruce :P) also is so hot on the market right now that it's really hard to get one. Second hand prices are ridiculous so I think you need to play the frustrating 'Ming game' to get one... nevertheless. I really like what Hajima Asaoka is doing and I also really love his 'entry level' brand. Besides my Ming and Sartory Billard this would be the third 'higher end' Microbrand I would add to my collection. Thanks for showing, Bruce!

I feel like it's worth mentioning that Hajime Asoaka is not just a designer or respected watchmaker - he's a master watchmaker and a member of the AHCI which makes him peers with some more well known master watchmakers like Phillipe Dufour and F P Journe

I think they should have went with a Seiko movement or even an Orient, that would have impressed me more in a $2000 plus watch, yes I think if they went with Orient they would have kept costs down but honestly Orient makes very quality mid level movements where as I don't feel that citizen or Seiko put as much care into their mid range movements, imo

I purchased one from Kurono during the original release. It’s cool, but really nothing special, I just got caught up in the hype. Ended up selling it at retail+shipping on Reddit. It’s a plain case and the movement is generic.

I think it's great that Kurono are trying to stop flippers. The only thing that may not stop flippers, is their own warranty. I can't see what could possibly go wrong with the watch, movement? quite easy and inexpensive to replace if needed. :/

I love my Toki, but honestly I think all these "fighting the resellers" are just marketing, how many watches needed service in the first 6 months, plus I would hardly return a watch with a Miyota movement to Japan for servicing. I wear mine on a pale blue Colareb strap and it looks amazing :)

I really appreciate content like this, makes no difference if available or not. I really like the watch but the Miyota movement is a letdown. Looks like it was ripped off from a Johnny Rockets Diner wall. It has a $35 movement and a Speidel band from a Walgreens stock room. I’m going to pass… but I appreciate you bringing us nice content. I also like the steps they have taken to shut down flipping.
@Jdinaz3 жыл бұрын
@Quasar not to try to prolong a meaningless argument… but the 90S5 price of $99 is a 1 piece order from a retail watch supply. Korono isn’t buying there and they are most surely buying multiples for economy. The movement is listed on alibaba for “$20-$50” with a 100 piece minimum order. I figure these guys buy enough for a somewhere in the middle price of about $35 bucks. I’m not trying to spread misinformation. The watch specs are underwhelming for the price. I also recognize that it’s not taken off a Johnny Rockets Diner wall nor is it on a bin find Speidel band (JB actually makes some nice stuff for Speedmaster) from Walgreens. I was trying to be a little bit comical. No harm meant sir.
