Kurt Angle made his WWF debut at the 1999 Survivor Series. After making a succesful debut, Kurt was placed on WWE TV shows as a regular, proving that Vince McMahon was willing to give Angle a proper chance to shine in the World Wrestling Federation. Over the course of a single year, Kurt Angle was able to achieve more goals than other superstars who had been in the business for decades.
Kurt Angle's celebrated Rookie Year in the WWF included a European championship win, an Intercontinental championship win, a King of the Ring tournament victory, and a WWF championship win. Angle held both the European and Intercontinental championships at the same time, making him a "Eurocontinental" champion within the WWF. Along with all of these accomplishments, Kurt Angle became a main event player as he entered into feuds with the likes of The Undertaker, Triple H and The Rock. And all of this is made even more impressive when you consider how Kurt had reached these goals within a year.
This mini documentary from Wrestling Bios takes a look at Kurt Angle's Rookie Year in the WWF. Topics covered include:
03:29 - Kurt Angle becomes a WWF "Eurocontinental" Champion
04:36 - Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 2000
07:02 - Team ECK: Edge, Christian and Kurt Angle
09:16 - Angle wins the 2000 King of the Ring
10:46 - The Stephanie McMahon / Kurt Angle relationship in 2000
17:24 - Kurt Angle becomes the WWF Champion in 2000
- Much More!

Aside from his undeniable wrestling acumen, he has a spectacular mind for the business. He could play any type of character: Goofy deluded heel, ruthless borderline psychopath heel, an ironically naive white meat babyface, a no nonsense badass face and a “shoot” wrestling tweener. He was always willing not to take himself too seriously and also adapt to organic fan reactions (something crossover wrestlers from “real” sports often struggle with i.e. Rousey).

I think a lot of his in-character success stems from his legit, real-life achievements. He doesn't have to front as a star, he legitimately is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Possibly ever since he did win the gold with a broken neck. So there's no insecurity hidden in there that he's trying to hide. His proof is in the history books.

Kurt Angle has been my absolute favorite since he first came to the WWF 20 years ago. I loved his rise to the top from Euro-Continental to WWF Champion and his stint as King Angle. I watched his first DVD repeatedly as it was a birthday gift from my then fiance. I loved his holier-than-thou attitude from it's true it's true to the three Is. His in-ring performance was only rivaled by Chris Benoit Chris Jericho and Eddie Guerrero and of course Brock Lesnar. He was the real deal in and out of the ring. Great Mike skills, his condescending attitude was so great! I can go on and on but I won't as I haven't read anybodys comments and I'm sure it's all been said. Bottom line Kurt Angle is THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME.

Man, if only we ever got a Hart vs Angle match, I honestly think it would have been the best rivalry going The matches between Angle and Benoit were some of the most ferocious and technical masterclass's that you will ever find Angle is arguably the best pound for pound wrestler since Dynamite Kid and he was brilliant to love to hate but couldn't help but admire at the same time Regards to the Stephanie angle (No pun intended) there may be some truth to that as I am sure Jericho purposed the same idea but was shot down by Trips which I am sure I heard on one his podcasts Great upload as always WB

One of the greatest of all time, cant think of anyone who rose has risen to the top as quickly as Kurt did in WWE...I know the Rock was heavily pushed in his rookie year, but from what I remember, The Rock never had the seemingly instant success Angle did, and I cant think of anyone since Angle, possibly Lesnar and Orton, they seemed to be pushed up pretty quick and also Goldberg back in WCW. Quite frankly, Kurt brought some legitimacy to WWE because of his extensive background and he is tough as hell as well, as he loved to remind us how he won the Gold Medal with a broken fricking neck... Keep up the good work anyway

The thing about those promos though was he actually had a point in what he was saying so he wasn't necessarily trying to garner cheap heat but rather speaking facts. His gimmick was pretty much the opposite of what the era represented so those promos fit his character perfectly.

I highly recommend every Kurt Angle fan read his book called Kurt Angle It's True It's True.. Now that being said, I wouldn't say his WrestleMania match didn't steal the show. The match that stole the show was the Tag Team Triple Threat Ladder Match

I know it couldn't have happened but omg a Brett Hart Kurt Angle storyline would have wrote itself and would have been awesome
