I've always noticed that books written in and around the 1800s by WOMEN have always portrayed women's views completely differently than books by MEN. In books like Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, Little House on the Prairie, Gone with the Wind, ex cetera, the women are usually sensible, strong, intelligent and not just weak emotional wrecks who love to cook and clean. In short, they actually have personality traits besides being kind and nurturing. While books by men usually portray at least one woman as a weak, stumbling idiot who has no purpose in life but to bear men's children.
@wolfsmaid68152 жыл бұрын
Really? I mean negative stereotypes exist for a reason but usually the stories written by men also have a strong, sensible female lead (or sidekick). I specialize in roman/greek/german medieval history so the 1800s are not my expertise, but even in medieval stories you often have multiple good women and one bad counterexample (for example in "Wigalois", you have the princess who is loyal to her betrothed and does not give up on him even when he seems to be dead. or the antagonists wife (some duchess) who cunningly bargains for her husband to be released. the only negative stereotype is the wild fisherwoman who finds the protagonist unconscious and takes advantage of his state by stealing from him and later gaslighting him. - none of the women in the book had children or were mentioned for that purpose) A lot of medieval stories that I read were based around that structure: 2-3 good women and 1 bad example which seems about alright to me.
@lxmesoda Жыл бұрын
dont forget how they always gotta sexualize the women in the story too
@cutecakes2228 Жыл бұрын
@@wolfsmaid6815 both the examples you mentioned are still defined by their role in relation to their male counterpart (staying loyal to him, getting him released, etc). Not saying there's absolutely no independent women in all of history pre-1800s, but there's a massive increase once the masses became literate and publishing became a thing. A lot of medieval and ancient stories have been influenced by countless re-writes through pen or oral storytelling. This blurs the line of authorship, and they become the product of a community rather than a single person. However if you look at novels in the last 250 years, where we know who the author was so we can draw a clear line between male and female authors. And like OP said, those written by women definitely have more developed female characters than those by men
@wolfsmaid6815 Жыл бұрын
@@cutecakes2228 Because women in general are defined in relation to their male counterpart. I never claimed that they existed independently from their surroundings. Just like a toddler would define a dog as "not a cat", we often use opposites and their relations to one another as one of the most basic forms of definition.
@cutecakes2228 Жыл бұрын

Actually I believe these guys aren't bad. They aren't forcing women to do what they want. They simply just state the simple qualities that they desire in a woman. If a woman doesn't have those qualities well they aren't going to force them to have sex with them and cook for them. A lot of people here don't really understand these guys which are redpilled and mgtow. Everyone here in this comment section is what they call blue pill. These guys come off as misogynistic and I'm sure there are some bad apples with people who call themselves redpilled or mgtow but the majority aren't woman haters. Like I said they just have standards about women like women also have on guys but no one says anything about that. In fact they believe marriage is not safe for men because divorce is really common and generally benefits the woman and I can agree with that. I agree with some of their ideas. I'm no woman hater and the majority of these guys do not hate women.

Isn't single motherhood a male issue, seeing how the man walks out of the relationship Edit: I want to clarify that the issue of single motherhood is a complex one with many different factors that lead to it. A lot of single mothers are Co parents, the result of the man leaving or the result of the mother taking the child. I'm just saying that too often the pressure and responsibility of raising the child is placed on the mother alone, while the man who had equal claim and responsibility to said child is often dismissed. That it's her fault for sleeping with him and not his fault for walking out. If you're going to address the women who make bad choices or take the children, you must also address the bad men who leave their children.

Ms. Makerspace Actually, yes. If a woman wants equality that differs from historical traditions, why then do majority of women admittedly continue to engage in slight and light assault upon men? There are so many stories of women not being believed when they report marital rape to LEOs but there are just as many stories of domestic violence against men in traditional romantic relationships and police laugh, literally. If women want equality then they will suffer the consequences of my jujitsu and military training because that’s how I’d treat any other male combatant. Gone are the days of “I was just playing” when I receive a dick punch or “I’m sorry. I was emotional” when I’m slapped for looking at another woman or didn’t communicate. Equal rights = equal fights! My bio dad wouldn’t let my mom go to school or get a job because of his stupid pride even though he didn’t make enough to support us, on multiple occasions he’d quit his job without having another lined up, and he refused to work multiple jobs. My mom had to covertly go to job interviews and then act as if she had just gotten a random job offer just to keep food on our table, until my dad just up and abandoned us when I was about 12. Single motherhood isn’t usually the woman’s fault in my experience

I think it's somewhat rare that it's on the mother. Especially at a young age I imagine the fathers are more likely to wanna avoid responsibility becaue they're not emotionally and romantically mature enough. This ofc goes both ways but I imagine it's easier for the father since he's not the one carrying and giving birth to the child. Just look at the kids Kyle and Jason from the TLC show Unexpected. They're around 16, I think? and he's not mature enough to be a parent and he winds up mentally abusing Kyle and blaming her for his stupid actions.

Do you know what ia funny? Feminist have been doing this for years to men, but in that case, people think is ok, men are told almost everyday how they should behave and how bad they can be.... I am not saying I agree with these men but people seem to be blind when women do it to men. The problem is women have options to how to live and different ways to be happy, either be a stay at home mum, work or whatever, but men are still expected to keep the "obligation" they had since humanity exists. I enjoy Kurtis videos but his viewes on feminism are wrong. Feminism is a cancer to society. He says he can make a video on why the guy comparing feminism to kkk is wrong, well, there are books that prove the guy isnt that wrong. Fact is men cant do shit nowadays, kurtis spends the video making fun of them, imagine if someone did that to feminists, they would be called out. It is the double standard.
