Especially so when Ryu hardly broke the Top 70 of any major tournament since launch! So it was basically a non appearance due to being ranked far too low and/or not qualifying to now a major victory. This great stuff!

6x throw loops at the end was crazy lol.
@EAprima
@EAprima 3 ай бұрын
It's bonkers how Capcom doesn't seem to care about it despite nearly everyone agreeing that they want throw loop out. Personally, I understand why it's there so the answer to it is to simply restrict it to 2 throws maximum. How does that work? The first throw will be loopable but the 2nd throw will cause the executor to throw the victim much further which will break the throw loop chain. That's it. That's all Capcom need to do.

Take a note that Kusanagi committed to use RYU all the way from the beginning until the end. He fought many characters which usually ends bad for Ryu, like: JP, AKI, Rashid, Dee Jay, Zangief, Chun Li, and of course Xiaohai's Cammy. He won very convincingly most of the times. Props to him, this is pure SKILL, not luck.

You know how impressive Kusanagi's win is? Look at the button Kusanagi has to use the most with Ryu - st.Jab. That's Ryu's best button to handle neutrals - compare that to the buttons the rest of the characters in the top 8 use the most. Basically Ryu's neutral is bad in a game where everyone has mega buttons.

Ryu's stHP is one of the best buttons in the game, lmao. Huge range, leads to great damage, good for confirms and it is special cancellable. It's insane how not even a major win stops the insane downplaying. Ryu is good. If y'all spent less time whining and more time labbing, maybe you'd start winning too.

@@Raxyz_0Ah yes, Ryu is so good that he wasn't making it top 30 in major tournaments for a while. Not only that, they had to buff him and afterwards he still didn't make it to any major tournament ending. This is literally the first time Ryu won any major tournament, or make it to the top 30. I think pretty much everyone disagrees on your opinion buddy. Keep your wrong opinion to yourself lol.

@@Anonymous-gq7ho Ah yes. The ultimate metric of character balance. Top 30 in tournaments. Blanka also wasn't making top 30 placements until Mena started going on a tear with him and he ended up nerfed in this season. How does your flawed ad populum bullshit explain that? Let me burst your bubble Ryu doesn't make top 30 often because there isn't even enough Ryus entering tournaments. Ryu mains are too busy fooling themselves into thinking the character is the reason they're stuck at 1.1k MR to even try playing the game. Guess how many Ryus UFA had? One. It's no wonder he doesn't place if he doesn't even show up. If you wanna understand what a bad character looks like, watch sf3s Evo. Hayao played out of his mind and starred in the most hype moment in that tournament. Didn't even cracked losers final. There isn't an amount of copium in the world that is ever proving that Ryu is a bad character. lmai

What was Xiohai thinking while Kusanagi throwing him 6 times… Throw loop is actually strong and there’s ways to escape easily from it. But what about when you’re fighting against a player who is going to win the tournament with just one round, and you have low health AND had been blocked reversal OD several times!! Do we have braveness to press OD shoryu or back dash at this moment? Even Xiohai hasn’t. That’s serious mind game right there. I love these two players well played.

Nice final ... but the commentators are really not good, not knowing the difference between a D+MP and a D+FP ... really! And donkey kick ... WTF is that? A donkey kick would be kicking your back side, what ryu does is a damn kekoumi Yoko geri ... side kick, but I really can't blame them for that as this is what most people are calling it Japanese commentators are top notch, the french ones are pretty good (ken bogard is a pretty good player himself) ... but the US ones are just funny and they are invested when the pressure is on in the game (which is good but not enough), but no way are they sport commentators ... they would be great buddies to spend the evening watching the game with for sure but that is it. Get Brian.F, M.Dood, Smug or Broski to comment fighting games, that would be much better.

@Raxyz_0
@Raxyz_0 3 ай бұрын
Throw loop isn't a big problem, it's SFV that made people get too comfy in the corner. It was just "take the throw" and react to the following offense. It's an annoyance at best that people blow it out of proportion because they get salty about the loss. Case in point, SFIV also had throw loops and people to this day consider it a shining example of balancing.

@@Raxyz_0 brother throw loops have nothing positive about them, they are a horrible game design that shouldn't be in modern fighting games
@Raxyz_0
@Raxyz_0 3 ай бұрын
@@azizkash286 I'm not saying they're fun. I'm arguing it's not that big of a deal as people make it out to be. People say that comeback mechanics are horrible design, Strive's wallbreak, Tekken's rage, and many others. Some of these do have a point about something that needs to be "fixed", but a lot of the discourse around it is dumb and reductive. Throw loops aren't ruining anything, they're a necessary component for parry to exist as it is now. If in the future players find better defensive practices or anything in Drive gets a major overhaul, maybe it's no longer necessary. But for now, they're a part of the game, and there's ways to play around it.

Yup. It's one of the reasons why it's so significant. The man worked 180% to everyone's 100%. When people pick a high tier character they can coast but when you pick Ryu you need to work damn hard. All this is simply unfair and something capcom badly needs to address via balancing. Because of this, this wicked wall that Ryu players have to try and climb over, Kusunagi's victory was a major achievement for he has made history despite using shenanigans to help his victory/s.
