KV-1 SPORT - KV-1S in War Thunder - OddBawZ

The KV-1S in War Thunder is not like your normal KV1 heavy tank. It's pretty quick off the mark, has a decent top speed and decent reverse.
The S in KV1S doesn't really stand for Sport, but it may as well. It's like a normal KV-1 that hit the gym to do some cardio and came back a few tonnes lighter.
This tank is a serious masterclass in learning how to angle, engage and disengage in a fire fight but once you perfect it, it's a pain to damage it at medium to long range.

Proudest WT moment was when I was kicking ass with the 1S or something in the KV line and managed to hold down B cap solo, taking out a good six or more of the enemy and someone congratulated me on how I handled the tank You know you did good when War Thunder players take the time to praise you in the text chat and not with keybinds Edit: it was the KV-85, and so sad they removed text chat :(

some of those people you killed there in the intro are more than likely AI bots. i've had my suspicions for a while now about this being the case in WT so i decided to run a little experiment. my initial intention was to grab a sampling from a set number of matches.... but the results seemed overly saturated with AI bots so i figured i was doing something wrong. I decided to run the the program for a week straight doing roughly 15 - 20 ground RB matches per day. figured that would be about avg playtime for a casual or regular player of WT and the numbers didn't really change one way or the other in any sort of extreme fashion, more they seemed to settle in at around 3 - 7 player AI per given match. now there were matches that did not have any AI but interestingly enough those matches were ones where every single player had some form of actual squadron tag before their names, but i assume creating squadrons for AI bots might possibly be a bit too hands on for whatever teams in charge of this portion of the gameplay mechanics. I assume the intention was to create a system where their match maker can aggregate enough "players" in a timely fashion thus shortening wait times across the whole of the players actively looking to get into a game.

The KV-1S is a lot of fun - but "Russian guns don't deal very well with angles?" has that been your experience? I've found Russian APHEBC can cut through slopes at angles that other shells will bounce all day, they rival APFSDS with their slope modifiers. It's the only thing that keeps some of the lower pen guns competitive, well along with the huge amounts of explosive filler. At a 65 degree angle, the side of an M4A2 has 120mm effective armour against it's own M61 shell, against the KV-1S with BR-350B it has 73mm. The track armour is what makes it tricky, you can only pen spots without it.

Hello OddBawZ, I am trying to advance an idea and I was wondering if you can help. I think an aircraft's loadout should define it's operational designation. For example an aircraft should be a fighter when the loadout is only AAMs and/or guns, an attacker when carrying FFRs, and usually a bomber when carrying a bomb load. For example the the Wyvern would be an attacker when carrying anything, and Fantoms could be fighters OR Attackers OR bombers depending on loadout. It matters because the game has missions that MUST be done with a particular type of aircraft. (and the British are WAY short on attackers.)
