The first Black Belt Pattern for 1st Dan practitioners of ITF Taekwondo and all of its closer off shoots. This video demonstrates all of the applications suggested in Gen. Choi Hong Hi's Encyclopedia of Taekwondo. These are not my invention but an audio/visual representation of what the original intent of the creator of the pattern was for the movements. I am working on a series of videos demonstrating alternate applications if that is what you are looking for. I have completed the video for Won Hyo Tul available on this channel.

These are great and I use them when I teach class to give my students a better understanding of how each technique can be used. Thanks, and I look forward to more black belt tuls.

I like the video Sabum, but I didn't know that the first movement was a double attack, and I think there isn't a extra step after the two ap chaguis, taekwon!

Ok... there's no hitting a guy/gal when there down; in Taekwon Do! Even those sitting in the Ever Threatening.. cross legged position! :)

+Ron Maunder lol, It is not allowed in tournaments but in the official Taekwondo lexicon there are techniques where you kick people lying on the floor, sitting in chairs, and fighting techniques for sparring somebody sitting next to you on a couch. Striking an opponent sitting on the ground in that position is the exact image used to show the application of that move in that pattern in Gen. Choi's encyclopedia.

+Simon Scher ... Nope... I still wouldn't use it... My mind is warped by a previous (totally ingrained) oath "Seek Perfection of Character, Be Faithful, Respect Others, Refrain From Violent behavior".... Shotokan Oath So now I'm thinking General Choi would have taken the same Oath... Well.. then again... I might use the technique.. if the opponent was using "the old Dark Side.. mind control" technique! Live Long and Prosper? :) or "Use the Force" Okay.. now it's just getting religious!

lol, I agree that hitting somebody who is down is very unsportsman like. Taekwondo is a military martial art developed for use in combat and was used by the Korean CIA for under cover missions. It was used in the Vietnam war... So practical fighting where you are in danger of being killed if your opponent stands up any time soon would necessitate techniques for hitting while an opponent is down. I would never shoot anybody but I might choose to own a gun if you get my drift. It is good to practice the techniques even if you never plan to use them. If you have never read it, I recommend a book called "A Killing Art" by Alex Gillis. It is a very inclusive history of Taekwondo. Well researched and documented. Also a very entertaining read about the dirty history, and crazy origins of TKD.
