Episode 2 of the reboot shows how brutal Mecha Sonic did to Yoshi. The whole fight is on DBZ level with the animation. I cannot wait for the third episode once it's done. The fight with the Koopa Bros will be interesting.

When I tell you some of the most awesome scenes is when everyone is collectively fighting against the enemy, and vise versa with the enemy and heroes. The fighting chirography was like more top tier than some anime out there. Also that Fire Sonic scene was the peak of my childhood, man.

Honestly takes me back way back when I was in Jr. High. I found the series sometime in 2007, somewhat briefly before episode 6 came out. Watched episode 5 first then worked my way through the other episodes after that. Then episode 6 happened. And... not gonna lie, holds up shockingly well with how tense the whole scenario is! Really happy the reboot is continuing! Although, the fight between Mecha and Yoshi is a lot more brutal in that, and I love it.

I will never not be bent out of shape over the series ending *RIGHT AS* Mark was finally able to write great dialogue and character traits for Sonic. His character writing is superb for everyone except him, and it took the very end for Sonic to finally start feeling like the character he's supposed to be. His argument with Shadow is frustratingly well written and the fact that we'll never get payoff for it really upsets me.

This was my childhood, I remember that I couldn't watch it as good as now, because my computer was really slow and everytime there was a fight scene or some charged attack, my computer would lag horribly, sometimes even crashing internet explorer, but there were good times, I started liking Sonic (but specially Shadow, as every kid likes the edgy characters) thanks to this animation

OH SHOOT! NOSTALGIA! Mario and Sonic sprite animations were the early 2010s equivalent to Stick Fight animations. SMBZ was honestly ahead of its time though, most Mario sprite animations at the time were comedy stuff (Castle Calamities, Small sonic sprite animations), not many sprite animations had an in-depth story at the time, so SMBZ got really popular cuz of that.

Dude what I love is Mecha is DONE after Yoshi Island. He ain't playin' kid games and the stakes are for keeps afterwards. No preamble and no banter, just get payback and settle the score so he doesn't have anyone to threaten him. Wish you showed everyone the half episode Alvin (Mark) teased but still can't wait for him to possibly finish this. He was done so dirty by Nintendo so if anyone wants to I heavily recommend supporting him. I personally think he earned it with how much he inspired everyone and created such a marvel all by himself.

There was an episode 9 made, but it was very short. It showed Shadow in the desert and possibly fight Mecha Sonic alone, and Luigi managed to unstone himself thanks to his costume. And then it just said “the end”

That was scene 1 of episode 9 and the only scene to of said episode to be made. After he gave up on the original run of the series. Given the title of that episode it likely would have officially revealed eggman, how he survived, and how he got to Mario's world to ally with bowser.

sounds like it was in the same vein as a flash game called Final Fantasy Sonic X, i remember one of them had an anime intro with the first Fullmetal Alchemist intro, Melissa, and it was my jam. edit: after watching the vid a bit more i definitely remember the Axem Rangers, it's really cool that the creator decided to include characters from all kinds of games. Axem dudes are from (or at least included in?) Super Mario RPG, and the Koopa Bros are one of the first bosses in Paper Mario 64.

Hey, I remember this. I really like how good the animation was. What ever happened to this series? It is a mix of Sonic, Mario, and DBZ. I actually went back to see if I missed anything and it looks like this series hasn't been updated in years :(. 4:17 Isn't that sprite from the Mario RPG on the GBA? I like how they merged it with the SNES Mario Kart map. It's actually impressive how true to character the characters are. I believe this is how they would act in this scenario and not have creative liberties done with their personality like some hentai would do (Rito from To Love Ru is never that assertive). I like how Shadow skates when he runs. Radar to find the radar. Radarception. How do you mass produce mushrooms? Thanos was created in 1973. Metal Sonic was not Thanos before Thanos. I don't think Invincibility Stars would turn Sonic into Super Sonic. Aren't there also invincibility items in Sonic that don't do that? 25:53 When did Waluigi use that ability? Back when I saw this I didn't realize that the Minus World is a real area in the games. 43:15 OH SHIT! I did find a clip of what happens next and Luigi apparently de-petrifies himself since he was in a Tanuki outfit and saves Mario.

Regarding what happened to this series: Due to personal problems, Mark Haynes stopped working on the series, that was until 2016 when he decided to make a reboot of the series, along with a patreon in order to make some profits, but as you may imagine, nintendo being nintendo didn't like this, and once again went into hiatus until last year when the Ep 2 of the reboot was released. After this, there weren't updates of the third episode until recently. As of now, the next episode is expected to come next year. PD: The reboot is awesome. When you thought that sprite animation couldn't improve even more, this guy comes back, and shows you that it can be even better.
