NS - my homeland- is the best place on the planet- but i wish you could wait until next summer. This is a horrible time to plan cross border travel because everyone is thinking about recovery in our own country. Folks will still be great- but recovering from a very tough season. Just saying---

Hi guys! Love your route plans!!! You will love Glacier...avoid weekends (but you know that already). Go to Many Glacier Lodge...sit on the outdoor deck (overlooking the lake and glaciers), while watching grizzlies and wild sheep up on the mountain to your right. TAKE BINOCULARS. Walk the path east of the Lodge, and tell Caleb to be quiet (lol) and you will spot Mama moose and her baby bedded down next to the lake!!!! I am so excited for you!!!! Just teasing about Caleb! I adore 🥰 that young man! By the way, did I spot a dog or cat out the Airstream window, walking next to your cabin???? Love you guys! Have fun. Can’t wait to go with you on the Glacier hikes! Soooo beautiful! Take bear 🐻 spray!

What a great place to go! I so hope you can make it to Nova. Can. My Dad took us there when we were little in the 70's. He read Anne Of Green Gables to us. One chapter a night. We traveled in a truck camper. We stopped in a parking lot one night read our second to last chapter and went to bed. Dad put the camper on a ferry while we slept. The curtains were closed and Dad read the last chapter to us then opened the currents, we awoke in front of Anne's house on Prince Edwards Island! What a GREAT trip we had! Hope you find this trip to be just as wonderful!Travel safe!

Hey Mark.. the I Pass covers all tolls East of the Mississippi with exception of some bridge tolls in the New Jersey area but when we were over in Jersey a few years ago our I Pass worked just fine. We are located in Illinois and pathed thru Niagra to DC to New Jersey Shore to Myrtle Beach and IPass did not fail us! Enjoy that nice little feature!

We just bought our first RV last year and had an incredible 2019 Season. This year we had planned to go cross-country. NH to California and back, a whole month of travel. Just as we were about to start getting serious about reservations and planning, a pandemic swept in and everything shut down. At this point, no cross-country trip will likely happen. But we're gonna do our best to get out there and make memories with the kids. Sure, it's a bummer, but we'll still do it someday. Gonna do our best to still make it a Summer to remember.

If you do decide to make your way to MAINE make SURE you do during foliage season. Typically October 1-15th but just depends. As fall approaches there’s a foliage predictor you can use. Beautiful here during then and the crisp fall mornings are epic!. I’ve grown up here. Never gets old!

Fuel prices down, you guys should be able to save a lot this summer. On a side note, I had a couple of days in the hospital the other week and since I couldn't have visitors, I just watched KYD videos for every second that I was awake pretty much. Some of the nursing staff would watch parts of them with me as well and they really enjoyed it. Thank you guys so much for what you do, it really does lift spirits. Just like this end of this video, its going to be cool for your family to be able to look back at these recorded memories and just watch themselves grow up. Kind of like "Jim" said on the last episode of The Office he thanked the crew for allowing him to watch his life change over the years.

Mark and Trish, if you go through north Idaho, make sure you stop to see Pend Oreille lake. It is “around” Sandpoint Idaho, but makes lake Coeor d’Alene look small. If you have to stop for food, downtown Sandpoint has MickDuff’s brewing company and has excellent food, mozzarella sticks you cannot miss. Downtown Sandpoint is drivable because it used to be the highway so it’s large roads. We have been going up there every year since 1965!

Have you ever had the pleasure of visiting Kiabab Plateau HP on the north rim of the Grand Canyon? Had that pleasure in 1967. It was beautiful then (I was 10 years old at that time). It was the last trip that my family was able to take before my father died in 68. Lots of memories. 1965 Ford pickup and a Popup camper. Mom, Dad 3 kids and my Grandmother. Three weeks from Burnet TX to Utah and back.

The year I decided to go northeast, my plain was to go to NS and only explore the south part of the Provence. While taking the ferry boat from Bar Harbor over to Yarmouth I ran into another guy doing the same basic trip that I was, only he was headed up around the Cape Breton Highlands - which I hadn't even considered putting on my radar. So I changed my plans and followed him. I'm so glad that I did. On our way back down through NS, we went to the Alexander Graham Bell Museum in Bras Do'r. It was there that we parted ways because he needed to head back south towards his home in NJ. I on the other hand made the decision that very day to head back north and wound up taking the ferry boat over to NF. I was only planning on going for a day and wound up spending a week up in NF, making all the way to the northern tip. On the way back south I saw a sign for the ferry to Labrador and yep, I took it and then drove north to the very end of the road. I then started my journey back south with another ferry boat trip over to PEI and the a final ferry boat ride to NB. This was all before the bridge was completed. All in all, my camping trip that summer lasted 1 day short of 7 weeks of sleeping on the ground in a small pop up tent. One of the very best trips I took, and definitely the longest time wise. One thing I learned on this trip that I applied to my future summer camping trips was to build in 'vacation' days. Those are just days where I don't do anything. I relax, I read a book, I look at the map, I just veg and give my mind and body a break.

Hey Marc, make sure to check Gas Buddy for diesel prices too while you’re traveling. You can change the settings and display current diesel prices just the same as unleaded. I find that you can save huge amounts of money on diesel by avoiding truck stops in favor of local stations. Savings of $0.30 to $0.40 per gallon is common. Truck stops generally seem to have the most expensive diesel fuel on the road. They’re useful for easy access, but you pay for that easy-in and easy-out experience!

A top video as usual. It's all those personal touches. When NZ eventually opens for tourists again the app Campable , that lists private homes that welcome camper vans, is now posting Wildernessts, freedom camp sites recommended by Wilderness customers and often known only to the locals. Even better than an app in small towns that seem to have limited or no campsites at all - talk to the local storekeepers. They know where freedom camping is acceptable. Those shirts look great.

We fell in love with Nova Scotia when we drove there from Calgary in 2016. We, er, I planned our trip similar to your way & with a number of themes: artisan cheese shops (a couple of great ones on the west side of N.S. & a fabulous one on Isle d’Orleans) & visiting quilt shops for free quilt patterns (“Row by Row Experience”) then added Pokémon Go when it started (so us plus his & hers themes). Then our version of the Mormon Trail through the states back home. It was epic even with all the “adventures” -read following our car’s inboard GPS(TomTom) bringing us on weird routes. Yes, keep room to be flexible! We ended up spending a week in N.S., went out to Cape Breton Island then ended up staying in Lunenberg with new friends for a few days so I could see the Bluenose II. So much to see! I do hope you get to do your journey this year. Ours are changing too...from camping in Wisconsin to maybe someplace in southern Alberta (I’m thinking Milk River PP).

If you’re entering NB through Calais on Route 1, we highly recommend that you take a side trip to Grand Manan Island via the ferry out of Blacks Harbor. You take the entire rig on the ferry, which is a fun cruise, then go to the nearby campground. Awesome exploring and views of Fundy, in a pretty remote but civilized location. The tides there are trumped (oops, not to get political) by Homer, AK, but very cool nonetheless. Being easterners, we saw Fundy first then Homer..... After Grand Manan, you’ll also enjoy the reversing falls in Saint John. We hope Canada lets you in by the time you get there. We scuttled our trip from FL to Homer, and are considering the UP in Michigan. Thanks for all your good info!

You must make it up to La Baie (north of QC just a bit ) and see their community theatrical production! Truly worthwhile! We left part of our hearts in QC! You will love it! NS is unbelievable too! Just don’t forget La Baie! 😉 You won’t regret the theatre even though it’s not typically something y’all talk about! Be ready to eat in QC, lots of great walking there, la chateaux Frontenac, the armory, carriage ride....all fabulous! QC is the most European City in North America in my humble opinion. The diesel savings card is great. Except you have to use the truck pumps, not the auto diesel island. The truck pumps have a very large nozzle, and may not fit in your tank. They also pump fast, so keep an eye for splash back. I'm a big fan of GasBuddy, because I like knowing where I can find gas. Also Allstays. I usually pull over and call about 4 pm. to find a spot. The old me just showed up, but campgrounds fill up fast anymore, and I got tired of arriving at 10 pm.

Thank you for another informative episode showing us it’s possible to be adventurous even in these trying times. If your traveling through the Ottawa Canada area on your way to the Quebec City Region, One of your pebbles might be White Water Rafting (Owl Rafting) along the Ottawa River or Seeing the Changing of the Guard on Parliament Hill during the Summer Months and Trish will be able to pickup and enjoy Cheese Curds available from the Balderson Cheese Outlet or from other outlets throughout the Ottawa Area. Be Well, Be Safe and Happy Trails.

Love the app section at the end. Super helpful! We have recently signed up for harvest host and are looking forward to using this on our next trip. We are also looking into adding a few RV spots on our ranch in southern Oregon and registering them with Harvest Hosts. Great content. Thanks!

All these great B roll shots... Living in Illinois there's some definite envy. That being said. If y'all make your way here. Starved Rock State Park. Several beautiful limestone canyons and waterfalls. Also, Bianchi's Pizza in Ottawa (9ish miles away). I've traveled everywhere from Montreal, NYC, to LA. THE best pizza you'll ever have. As long as you order 2 sides of house hot sauce.

Y'all - took me right back home to TX, Austin/Round Rock as a matter of fact (Hook Em Horns). You will love Glacier-be sure to trip over to Waterton, the Canadian part of Glacier. We tent camped with our kids in early August & nearly froze to death.🥶

We have had our RV for 13 years now (2007 Dutchmen T@B Clamshell), and we have been weekend warrior campers and single destination vacation campers so far. We are now planning a 3 week cross country for next March across the Southwest - Alabama - California and back. I know you said you don't reserve every night, but for some reason, I feel compelled to do so. 3 nights of our trip is a rally, so that is a foregone conclusion, but for some reason, I feel compelled to have every night reserved (and paid for in advance), I've been obsessively route planning, and searching for grocery stops every other night as our rig is tiny, so can't carry too much fresh food. The plan is to limit our travel days to around 300 miles or less, and limiting ourselves to "Roadside America" quick stops on travel days. We have several two night stops for more extensive bucket list stuff such as Grand Canyon, "the Dam Tour", Zion, Graceland. So also, in your "save money" video, you said planning was also key to saving money. I think this will work for us. Also, because I've been stalking Google Maps quite a bit, I found one of our segments routed us through a VERY windy road. Glad I caught that. Now I know to go a bit further, and stay on the interstate.

Glad to hear you are coming back to the NorthEast. My family and I have been to Quebec City more than I can remember,. Summer is a great time, but the winter carnival is even better. If you get a chance to see a light show and fireworks at Montmorency Falls. Also, we have been to Nova Scotia. The Bay of Fundy national park in New Brunswick and the Cabot Trails are a must. Look out for those red chairs for the best views in Canada.

Hi guys! Couldn’t wait to hear about your upcoming plans! So excited for you! There is a beautiful KOA in West Glacier, not far from the Park entrance. Check out Many Glacier on the east side. Sit on the deck overlooking the lake and glaciers while keeping your eyes on the mountain to your right ...take binoculars and watch the grizzlies and mountain goats on the hillside. Watch for mama and baby moose bedded down on the trail to the East, along the lake.

Excellent video! On Gas Buddy you can select diesel and it will pull up fuel prices for gas stations that carry diesel fuel. These can be less expensive many times versus the truck stops even with discount cards. If you have a smaller rig these can be a great option versus the big truck stops.

NOVA SCOTIA! Spent 2 weeks up there for our honeymoon. You will love it up there. If you're near Halifax, make sure you check out Peggy's Cove. If you get up to Cape Breton Island, drive Cabot Trail, it's unforgettable scenery. And if you're up by Ingonish, check out Mary Ann Falls, you can walk to the falls and swim in the eddies....and make sure you do a whale watching boat ride on a Zodiac. Enjoy!!!

Be sure to drive the Cape Breton loop when you get to Nova Scotia. Easy one day ride in the truck. I wouldn't recommend pulling the trailer.

Since you will be travelling through New Brunswick to get to Nova Scotia you should consider stopping in Hartland to see the longest covered bridge in the world. Also I think you guys would really enjoy Fundy National Park which has tons of walking trails and the Hopewell rocks. Really looking forward to you guys seeing my part of the world. Just make sure to keep on top of the current situation as our borders in Canada are closed from the US and between the provinces.

Thanks for all the tips! We spent 2 weeks in Canada last summer and a chunk of that was in Nova Scotia. We loved exploring Canada's provincial and National parks... they have some gorgeous ones!!! Graves Island was a wonderful campground!!! I totally agree with having your own trip, so enjoy whatever you do. However, here's my couple 2 cents.... check out the adorable seaside towns in Nova Scotia (Lunenburg, Mahone Bay...) and if you make it over to PEI please, please stop at the hand pie store and grab a snack... they have savory and sweet and they were amazing!!! Safe travels!!

If you go through Minnesota, I recommend spending a few days at Itasca State Park, the source of the Mississippi River. I believe you have crossed the Mississippi River many times and I think it would only be right to go to the source of it. Itasca is an awesome park, it has two campgrounds, bike trails, hiking trails, and beautiful lakes!

I don't usually comment on physical stuff, and maybe it's just a lighting thing, but when you were recording inside the RV especially Mark, your left eye specifically has a really white glimmer/shine to it, might be worth an eye exam. Aside from that, Nova Scotia, how exciting! I know you're really going to love it.

I Pass - or EZ pass requires a blue tag which adds in the additional axles for the trailer. But keep the white for non towing situations like when you explore the area. One special note, bring bags of money for all the tolls in the northeast.
@richmanwisco
@richmanwisco 4 жыл бұрын
That is no longer true, at least in Illinois. Their technology can now detect how many axles you have. No additional transponders required.

Marc and Trish; if you are going to Glacier and get a chance to hop the border and take a day trip to Waterton, it is totally worth it. If you do get a chance to do that, Red Rock Canyon is amazing! Enjoy your trip back through Canada! Sorry I missed your meet up when you came to Vancouver Island.

If you are going to Quebec City, there is a large free campground along the St Lawrence Seaway near the Cathedral of St Anne Depris. It is a place for pilgrims to park while they visit the Cathedral, at least it use to be there. You can walk to it from there. Don't miss the old city of Quebec. Very European like. Also, drive the John Cabot trail in Nova Scotia, but drive it in a clockwise direction for the best views along the coastline. Beef up on your French because road signs are in French. You will need health certificates for the dog and proof a rabies inoculation. You can take the ferry out of Digby and cross the Bay of Fundy to get back to the US. It is an exciting tour and I look forward to your trip.

My wife and I fulltime so we park it part of the year. During that time its doctors visits for us and the Tiffin everything in our world gets inspected. We also write a book about our travels and plan ahead for our next trip. With the country in lock down it has killed the trip for this year our big rocks are under 10 lbs of dangerous moss. Over 65 with health issue is a large portion of the RV community. Staying until the curve is flattened is more important than going on our normal six month trip. We have hitch itch so bad it's not funny. Stay safe my friends. Mike
