I like how he can switch his left and right hand on the snare and hi-hat whilst playing, I haven’t seen drummers do that very often. Makes you wonder if he’s left or right handed🤔. But it is a smart and efficient way to rest the other hand that is tired.

It's also good for blastbeats. Open handed is the best kind of drumming style I can think of. Learning to do the typical cross and switch to open handed makes you even better.

adiputra hamdan Wrong. Written and demo’d by Jimmy, final recording by Portnoy. It only took on new meaning after Jimmys passing, like the rest of the album. The songs were already written, just some were rearranged because they didn’t have jimmy in their ear telling them what to do with his odd time signatures.

Ok. This dude can play. Did anyone else notice that he played both open and close handed throughout the song? Pretty ridiculous. I can play open handed if I set my drums up left-handed. I can do kick and hi hat articulations with either foot, but I could never get my hands to do it. With alot of practice I'm sure I could eventually. But seeing someone do it throughout a song amazes me.
