You have a genuineness about you. A lot of people here who sell lessons or have Patreon come off like used car salesmen. You don't, and its appreciated. You're a great painter as well.

Kyle, you may not be the greatest video producer, but your sure tops in the painting production. I've been watching your videos since you started posting on you-tube. For some time now I have been thinking about plein air painting. Watching you paint and seeing how easy you make it seem gets me fired up. Hopefully, I will get out and do my own plein air painting. I know it won't be as easy as you make it look, but at least I will be having fun. Your talent is amazing. For me your one of the best teachers out there. Keep on the way you're going...your only direction is UP, my friend.

Thank you George! I really appreciate your kind words. I have a very sincere desire to share the process with folks like you so that you can sidestep some of the barriers that I had to meet head-on when I first started. I know that in time I can improve my video quality so it makes me happy to hear that people like you are enjoying the content of the videos regardless of the production value. I hope you are able to get outside soon and enjoy just pushing some paint around. Don't worry too much about the results at first just get out have fun and soak up the process. Best wishes and happy Painting! -kyle

Love your video demonstrations. Have you considered buying a large open box M? It opens up vertically so you can view the palette and painting. The pallette is just below the painting and you can avoid having to always cross over to the pallette. The Easy L and Strada also has that featured. It helps you save your motions.

Thanks, Kyle, for showing us how you paint and your color mixtures from a limited palette. I'm going to try your paper towel technique, along with your very loose brushstrokes. My paintings are much too tight! Your style of teaching is very beneficial too.

Your demos are wonderful. The only thing....is that you go from starting with large general shapes and make a quantum leap to very specific trees. I think it would easier for the mind if you started with the large general shapes and demoed how to bring in the specific with that. It seems like a whole section was left out.

I am learning so much. The depth of the forest is so nice. I thought purple was for far away or shadow colors. The trees are beautiful, but how do you know whether to paint the trees a tree-color like browns or grays?

Hi kyle. i did my first spot of plein air the other weekend, hated it st first, but enjoyed it as time went on, that was a 5 hour session. i did my second yesterday and i'm afraid i have to say it was hard going ( very very tiring in a bad way i found ) for one reason and another so at the moment outside painting has a slight thumbs down, cold, damp, etc may not be for me, tho i can see why people love, and yes totally hate it. tho having said all this giving up isn't on the card's, i'm making a small extension on a very light tripod i have, looking for less weight more compact kit and have a place/ subject in mind near a church i know, but i have a feeling plein air is for the fit but mainly, a healthy person, im asthmatic so cold/damp may not be for me.best wishes.

What do you think of staining the canvas with turps & pigment? The whole fat over lean thing?
@theartfulsouls4529
@theartfulsouls4529 6 жыл бұрын
I try not to use pure turpentine too much..it can cause the paint layers to weaken if there's not enough oil/medium in the mixture. That's why I like staining with the medium mixture...but I wipe most of it off so it's still pretty lean. The medium helps hold the stain together...too much pure mineral spirits can weaken the integrity of the paint too.

Kyle, When you feel that you have improved your camera, audio, and editing equipment, you may want to look at "Udemy". I see that many artists have videos on the Udemy platform. You may want to check that system. You will want to feel more comfortable with your videos before you start that process. Producing videos will take more time than painting, so your time investment will be substantial. Great work and I appreciate your effort.

Hi Kyle from one painter to another your explaining how to paint is quite good? but you lost a lot of light within your painting? and to the lower part of the painting, it looks like your teaching people to mix mud? as with your pallet? if you teaching people you must keep things clear? and that includes clear clean colour mixing anyone mixing colours your way who is learning will just have a mud bath all paint mixing when learning should be separate and done in stages. please remember if people are learning and it goes really wrong it could put them of painting forever? sorry to criticize teaching has to easy and very clear for people to follow. good luck. best wishes ken..
