A slight correction. In 2011, Kyle actually worked his way up to the front after the wreck, and was a good pusher for the second half. He was in the top 10 when Regan Smith wrecked with 4 to go, but he and Kurt Busch fell off on the restart, and never got the momentum on the second and final G-W-C attempt. Other than that though, yeah, great way to relive the pain.

He will probably have a fast car next year again, wreck it in the duels, get up to the top 10 with less than 50 to go and then wreck or come up close

As a Kyle Busch fan it seems like every year he gets the lead with 50 or less to go but either wrecks his car or someone else wrecks and he gets screwed on the restart

If you look at his results, 2025 is his 20th Daytona 500. Who else won with RCR in his 20th try, Dale Earnhardt
@LessGo79212 ай бұрын
If the 500 eludes Kyle, it definitely eluded Kurt from 2001-2016 even more. Kurt finished 2nd 3 times in that race in 03, 05 and 08. Kurt 500% deserved a 500 win in his career

I would argue Stewart had it worse. He always was competitive, could win any other event at Daytona, but the 500 always seemed out of reach. That loss in 2008 hurt me more than the 2007 running.

I'd imagine if KB wins, Mike Joy's call would be similar to Dale Earnhardt's win. "20 years of trying. 20 years of frustration. Kyle Busch will win the Daytona 500!!"

This was a good video, you should make one on Dale Earnhardt and Darrell Waltrip of all of their attempts since it took them forever to win and hopefully Kyle can have his time.

With how the Daytona 500 has degenerated as of late I highly doubt it's going to happen. Last time a series champion won the 500 was 2017 with Kurt. After that it's been nepobaby, Hamlin, Hamlin, long-lived backmarker, another nepobaby, Michael Waltrip with endless road rage, and one of Hendricks most forgettable drivers. The chance of winning at Daytona and Dega has been made about as perfectly even as possible now, a good team, good strategy, or even luck won't get you wins at these places anymore. Now it's sheer random number generator levels of chance. And when the ability to win is left to that level of chance the real question has to become 'why are we valuing this race so much anymore'?
