This is one of the most beautiful, innovative, hypnotic guitar performances I've ever seen and I've watched a boatload of them - precussive fingerstyle, bebop, chord melody, gypsy jazz, solo, ensemble. It's just terrific to see a beautiful new composition getting whole new dimension of sound out of the instrument! I just love the sound you're getting out of that full bodied acoustic with the Passerelle. Really, this video ought to have millions and millions of views. Thanks so much for composing this and posting it!

beautiful. I recently bought the Pasarelle bridge for both my nylon acoustic guitar and my acoustic bass. What a lovely concept. I guess the Japanese have known this for a long time.

This is really wonderful. Lots of very interesting techniques going on here. I especially love the part at 0:52 where you cross your hands and apply a vibrato to the neck side of the strings. The passerelle is such an incredible piece of kit - I genuinely think it's the most innovative guitar accessory since the capo. I'm working on a composition for it at the moment and this video is such a fantastic resource for interesting techniques. Thank you for sharing!

I did something similar 30 years ago although not nearly so adept and gorgeous..I was lucky that when I took the old bridge off and put a nut across one of the frets it was almost a perfect octave .Tuned to a pentatonic scale and quite fun.

@soulofash21124 жыл бұрын
Since finding about about the Passerelle, I have wanted to see what it would be like to use it with a double neck lap steel. Seeing you use the hammers gives me ideas as well. I now know what my next three musical purchases are--the double neck lap steel, the Passerelle, and a handful of crystal rock candy on a stick (the ball end works *great* for dulcimer hammers). Oh yeah. I'm doing this. Probably after the first of the month.

I was looking up performances using this bridge and I came upon your video. Very nice! I particularly liked the inclusion of the hammered dulcimer technique. I would have liked to have seen a bit more variation in your performance, more bends would have been great!

@Ahimsaabbott3 жыл бұрын
I love this and I ordered a passerelle. What brand and size string do you use? Your tune sounds excellent. And you make it not only sound like a koto but also an Indian Santoor. Kind of like Tony levin using drum sticks on bass guitar. Great stuff!!
@kyleswatek49933 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! I don't usually use these strings but I'm pretty these are Ernie Ball 2003 medium light Earthwood 80/20 bronze acoustic strings (.012-.054). Usually I play D'Addario strings though. I tried using lighter 10's and the result was less volume (of course) but it's a real problem when you need the hammering section of this song to be loud. You can only hit the strings so hard before you run into issues with them getting knocked out of tune haha
@mynicknameiskeno3 жыл бұрын
Sounded amazing! What was the thing you used to hit the strings? Can’t wait to get one of my own!

@amrelseweifi56404 жыл бұрын
Hey, man. Great video. I'm having a lot of trouble getting the tuning right with the passerelle. I tried following Kaki King's tuning tutorial, but I can't get the tunings to the way she has it. Could it be my guitar?
@kyleswatek49934 жыл бұрын
Amr Elseweifi Thank you sir! Yeah it can be a little tough. For this song I tuned from low to high EACEGA and it was tough to keep stable. You might have to angle the Passerelle a little bit and wiggle it in slightly different positions to get the intonation correct. I would say if the guitar has decent intonation without the Passerelle bridge, it should have decent intonation with it
