The speechwriters on this show are killing it. Not just Kino; not just Luthen; but, also Maarva. Even Nemik's brief talks about his views regarding tyranny and resistance (in dialog and in his manifesto) were very rousing. I'm so relieved that the finale worked out. I finally understood Luthen and the speech. Luthen works in the shadows, he undermines the Empire in secret. But Marvaa is asking people to wake up, stand against the empire ie. step out in to the light to fight. Which start the confrontation. This applies to Luten as well, let people know that there are people that are against the empire and they might join you. And all of works with Luthen's speech last episode "I dream of a sunrise that I'll never see". Dream/waking up, sunrise/shadow. the symbolism of the ceremonial band is so deep : when the funeral band starts to play its meant towards the Imperials; as if they are saying: " the end or death of the Empire is near. This is the start of the end. This is the funeral song of the Empire." The clocktower guy rings the last hour of the Empire. I am most interested by Luthen's face after the bombing. It seemed like he was just stunned by the whole thing, I'm wondering if it's because he's never been that close to the action cause he is just a behind the scenes kind of guy. Or if he was silently panicking because he didn't see this coming for once and doesn't have a plan on how is going to get off world without being noticed. I need next season now.......I want to see full rebel mode Andor and how he climbs the ranks to his position in Rouge One
@gabrielestrada8523 Жыл бұрын
I think that look on his face is the shock of Luthen seeing the Rebellion begin, but this was outside of his control and influence. He had little to do with it but just indirectly be there. And Maarva’s speech moved more people against the Empire than all he has ever done, and now he is questioning his tactics and mantra. This was bigger and beyond his control. Luthen did not have to do so many terrible things to start the rebellion. Maarva inspired more righteous uprising (in the general populace) than Luthen could hope to. And he knows it.

"I burn my life to create a sunrise I'll never see," he said, a few episodes ago. I think his shock in this moment is him realizing that he *did* get to see it. Maarva empowering the common folk to rebel is something Luthen thought he'd never see in his lifetime.

I can’t get over the fact that the first time we really see Stormtroopers in action is in the season finale. Gilroy and co turned the “bread and butter” of Star Wars content into a season finale level threat!
@dwell73157 ай бұрын
It really makes you remember that we've been following protagonists most of the time we see Stormtroopers. People we know will reasonably never be killed, so only massive threats (Major crime lords, Sith, etc) actually trigger our alarm bells as viewers. A show like Andor, whose primary cast is a bunch of scrapyard workers? Yeah, Stormtroopers are going to pose a larger threat to them than fulltime smugglers, latent Jedi, and trained soldiers/mercenaries. Any time the common people's view of the Empire is shown, it always reminds the viewer that these atrocities are committed daily across the galaxy under the Empire, we've just been primarily watching characters with plot armor interact with them.

Syril's importance to ISB jumped up this episode, not because of what he did, but what Cassien did. ISB was keeping Bix prisoner because she was their one witness to who Axis is, and now that Cassien rescued her, they've lost their only lead... except Syril stated he heard Luthen's voice and would remember it, meaning he is now their only lead who can identify who Axis is for them. For this reason alone, I believe they will bring him into the fold in hunting Cassien and the others.

I think that Luthen is just seeing the result of what he was _trying_ to initiate with Aldani. It's no coincidence that Marva's activism was explicitly sparked into action by that event that he orchestrated. Luthen wanted the complacency of the people to be broken by disrupting the Empire's slow & invisible stranglehold over the galaxy by forcing aggression. That's what will, start people fighting again - just like at the prison. That's why even _knowing it would cost lives_ of people he knew like Krieger and people he didn't like on Morlana 1, it's what he's causing out of necessity. Like he said before - he is cursed to use the tools of his enemies against them. Most notably, Deidra is the one who correctly identified that the strict and enormous response to Aldani was a misstep by the Empire for that reason, and why she's such a pivotal character. Tactically, she has what is necessary to stifle the rebel uprising entirely which is why it's SO important to see how that side operates and why ANY act of rebellion always has the possibility to be that one necessary catalyst to bring about the Empire's demise.

God this finale was so good, the build was well done and the writing was so good. I loved Maarva's speech. My favorite touch with this finale is the parrallels to other arcs. Deedra is a mirror to Syril, their overconfidence and lack of experience in rela situations ost them in the end but Syril learned and grew from it and thus he was finally able to have his hero moment. I fully expect Deedra to get reprimanded and be more dangerous in s2. Cassian in that last scene mirrored luthen in the first arc, he presents himself completely vulernable to Luthen like he did and asks luthen to take him with him to fight for the rebellion. The funeral scene and speech were incredible, Fiona Shaw nailed it. i really loved this show and am hyped for s2.

I watched the OT as a kid and fell in love with the Star Wars universe. I saw the prequels in my 20s and was bitterly disappointed but by the time the sequels came out I had mellowed and come to see each movie trilogy for what they were - fantastic family films. Every trilogy IS Star Wars for the kids that grow up with them. So now I watch The Mandalorian, Book Of Boba Fett et al with my own young kids and have a great time with them and taking a good ol’ nostalgia bath. Then Andor comes along as the only piece of live action Star Wars that has been written for those of us who grew up with Star Wars but are now GROWN UP. It manages to be respectful of everything that has gone before without feeling limited by it, and has been unafraid to write truly new stories and characters. The cinematography, music, writing, casting and performances have been as good as, in many instances way better than, anything we have had in Star Wars to date. I agree with Kyle that there is absolutely still room for the family-oriented action adventure that we see in the other content, but I have been overjoyed to finally have something for me NOW, not something just for 8yo me. Immense. Huge props to the whole Andor crew.

No one: not Vel, not Mon, not Lonnie, not even Saw can see the big picture that Luthen sees, they can't understand. But Cassian comes to Luthen and sees things so clearly. If Cassian is caught the Empire will make him talk it's only a matter of time, they will be that much closer to finding Luthen, the only options he has are to die and keep the secret or keep fighting. So on hearing Cassian accepting this Luthen finally has someone else that can see the big picture, someone he can truly work with.

The reason Mosk exchanges his hat with Syril is because his hat is orange and orange on the hat is the color of command in the Corpos. Mosk is demonstrating that he still considers Syril his commander.

The writing, sets, characters, speeches, so much about this show is amazing. And I really can’t wait for the second season. This is making me want to play some battlefront now. And I just watched rogue one again and it’s just amazing.

Fight the Empire! If that finale didn't get you fired up then your already a brick lol Absolutely amazing season we got, loved every single detail of it. Masterful writing and story telling and the visuals were glorious. I love this type of star wars and i do hope we will see more shows or movies with the maturer darker tones this has but also agree there is more than enough room in the galaxy to explore many genre's . Great review as always guys

27:09 Right? Right? "Andor" did this so incredibly well... creating tension and suspense, making you wait for the inevitable. They did it before during the Prison-Arc and especially masterfully in the Aldhani-heist episode. The entire time you're at the edge of your seat, waiting with bated breath for that one moment when it starts to go down. You know stuff's about to happen (or, in the case of the Aldhani-Raid, you just knew that at one point something would happen that would make it all go sideways), you KNOW it, you just don't know when or what exactly. Sidenote: Gotta admit, i especially liked seeing Brasso tear shit up. I would have prefered to see the Hammer-guy on the tower dome that Trooper coming for him with a hammer, though.

21:12 that was Mon Mothma playing the part of a nuisance senator with an embarrassing personal problem that explains any oddity in her banking arrangements as Mr. Mothma covering a gambling problem in my mind. She knows she is being spied on by the driver, and this is the sort of dirty secret the Empire expects to discover.

Great reaction as always you two! 🥰 I teared up through the Nemik Manifesto 😢, WEPT through Maarva’s speech 💔😭… that tension build up and the ensuing battle, just wow! I’m still in awe of it all! Amazing series. Enthralled by it all! As you said possibly the best SW content so far. We’ve always seen the saga through (super) heroic eyes so the Empire always looked clumsy & bumbling. Finally we get content through the citizens eyes and The Empire is absolutely terrifying! “There is a wound that won’t heal at the center of the galaxy. There is a darkness reaching like rust into everything around us. We let it grow, and now it’s here. It’s here, and it’s not visiting anymore. It wants to stay. The Empire is a disease that thrives in darkness. It is never more alive than when we sleep…. ….But I’ll tell you this, if I could do it again, I’d wake up early and be fighting these bastards from the start FIGHT THE EMPIRE!” ✊🏽 - Maarva Carassi Andor P.S. I knew the Empire wouldn’t just waste prisoners and therefore used them to build parts for the DS.

I mean, it's literally the only theory everyone got right, and it was because everyone instantly said "are they building the Death Star?!" out of being programmed by previously predictable Star Wars stories. But in this case, for this story- specifically the Tragedy of Cassian Andor/Rogue One- it made the most sense. He is literally ended by the weapon he was forced to help make, the ultimate irony. This show is so freaking good.

Kyle and Bendu, as always, every episode that premieres I look forward to your reactions, today for the 536373th time I saw it again and I absolutely agree with what Kyle says so accurately "If you saw Andor and you don't like it, you simply don't know what Happens with Star Wars" I think this series was divided into two objectives, 1 to show the way to Rogue One, and 2 to show the true face of the empire. The other point is that thanks to this you know more about real Star Wars fans, with Andor I was disappointed with many KZbinrs (and very big ones) who claimed to be "fans" and thanks to this it was revealed that they are only fake, or as they say in my country Chile "Son de Cartón" Thank you Kyle and Bendu for so much! May the force be with you always.

Between the manifesto and the mother's speech. This was done very similarly to V for vendetta. And I loved it.

I have to say rarely do i get goosebumps and the feeling like I'm right there with the scenes. The march of the band, Maarva's speech , i absolutely love the writers who invoke these emotions in all of us. The only other time i felt like this recently was watching house of dragons and the king struggling to walk to the throne. I feel like writers nowadays are realizing its not just the big scenes that make you fall in love, its these moments.

Love Andor so much. And to your point about audience - my kids (11 and 7) really struggled to follow what was happening and stay engaged. Was the first time they stopped wanting to watch something Star Wars, and similarly my parents were confused by who was who and what was happening. But I love having a show that dives deep into character development and the world building of a fascist Empire and the rebellion. I hope we get to hear more from the manifesto.

Also we know now those marks appearing in the Andor intro to the music...that's the appearing death star. Transpose that image of the death star in the end credit & the lines appearing in the into & they line up EXACTLY.

"It's a big galaxy..." no truer words have been spoken! So many storylines and types have room. As a fan of Star Wars, yes!
