Kyle: "I know it's going to be hard to keep it similar to the original" Pentatonix: "We got this"
@Curandera995 жыл бұрын
Fun fact: after they met for the first time as a group the day before their audition for the Sing Off and were then accepted to be one of the 16 groups that were to compete that season of the show, they all traveled back to the home town of Scott, Mitch and Kirstie, Arlington, Texas, to start practicing together before the season started. They practiced in Scott's childhood home. Scott's mom, Connie, had picked them up at the airport. She was in bed while the kids practiced in the lower level. Scott's dad, Rick, had been at work. When he laid down in bed with his wife, he could hear them practicing. He asked his wife, "did Scott buy a drum kit?" Connie answered, "No, that's Kevin."

The pure joy of listening to them for the first time is something I can’t recapture outside of watching other people hear them. Everyone has different reactions to songs based on their own experiences in life and with music. I like how you can focus in on what individual members are doing at specific times. One of the best things about Pentatonix is that all the members shine at different times on different songs. Scott and Kristin on “Shallow” are so incredible. Mitch’s voice SENDS me every time. Pentatonix loves Queen and loves "Bohemian Rhapsody." They always wanted to cover this song, but they were afraid that they couldn't do it justice, so they waited until they thought they were ready. That took *five years.* Then they had to arrange it, choreograph, rehearse, figure out how to motorize a couch, and I don't know what all (since I'm not a professional musician), which took several more months at least, possibly a year. It was worth the wait. _________________________________ In the early days, after PTX had their recording contract withdrawn just a week after the won it on _The Sing-Off,_ they did a lot of videos of the five of them sitting and singing on someone's couch, so the couch is taking them on a trip down Memory Lane. The starry sky is a tribute to Brian May, who has a doctorate in astrophysics. The four shooting stars are for the four members of Queen. The picture of all of them lying together on the couch is a reference to the cover art for Queen's _Sheer Heart Attack_ album. Pentatonix *always* respects the music and the original artists. Where they improve on a song (say, John Lennon's "Imagine") they do so in a way that the original artist couldn't do him or herself but would absolutely approve of, because they make the song more itself.

I mean, it just never gets old watching people's first time listens to PTX. Being from DFW and having followed their journey "officially" from day one of The Sing Off to owning everything they've ever put out music wise since, nothing makes me happier than watching these amazing individuals succeed at a global scale like they have. From a show that literally got canceled, brought back, canceled again, etc., to them get dropped from their label, to winning 3 Grammys, being in movies, going on international tours, and they've even managed to keep going after losing Avi (most people's #1 bro). It's truly amazing. Feels like the day the Grinch's heart grew 2 sizes! 💕 🤣 Just melts your heart no matter how hardened you are. No one can deny their talent. I still get chills every time I hear them sing. Words can't describe how freaking good they are.

On top of everything you hear Kevin do in beat boxing he's concert proficient at cello and saxophone, speaks four languages and was top of his class in pre-med when he threw that all out the window to try out for Pentatonix. Just over-all an admirably talented guy. You have to listen to Home Free- Ring of Fire, featuring Avi Kaplan. He helps hit a few REALLY low notes in that one. Then, you will suffer ignominiously if you never hear him do Change On The Rise. The best thing to come out of his mouth.

Im glad you’re feeling better! Stay well! I’m really enjoying your reactions. I love that you are coming from a different background musically, so I can appreciate your introduction to them even more. Being only five singers, each one of them is vital to each song. If you want to see if they can perform this live, check out some of the fan recordings when they performed it at the Hollywood Bowl for the 4th of July a couple of years ago. It was the first time they had performed it live. It was also after Avi had announced he was leaving the group. He left in September of that year. (They are still good friends.) In the first of the Hollywood Bowl performances they were joined by a choir from the A Capella Academy, which was founded by Avi, Ben Bram, PTX’s arranger/producer (someone correct me if I have that wrong, please) and Rob Dietz. You’ll see Avi look back at them like a proud papa! Welcome to the wonderful world of PTX! I wonder if you realize you are likely to go down the rabbit hole and join the rest of us who are in awe of what they do so well, so consistently.

Ptx is on another level is an understatement. They are so so talented. And i love your reactions. I see a lot of Rather Be comments. One of my favs. Listened to it yesterday....twice

You're doing great! Love your uninhibited comments while listening. You express feelings with your face and voice. So many reactors don't. Extra point for not freaking out because the couch moves on its own... Please check out comments below on poor video audio quality.

Kirstie is integral to the wall of sound that Penatonix is known for. She really fills in that middle area (along with Scott and sometimes Mitch) making the incredible rich and lush sound defines them so well. There are many videos with her singing lead. For fun, you should check out their Sing-Off performances. I like to listen to the ones that include the judges comments. Scott, Kirstie and Mitch were just 17 years old when they won the Sing-Off (Season 3). If I remember correctly.

Kirsten has an amazing solo in “can u feel the love tonight” which, I think, is their most recent cover.

I am so excited that you took my suggestion & maybe others too and listened to their version of Bohemian rhapsody and more than that, that you clearly like it as much as I do!!!

Somebody online mentioned something about a guy turning in to a guitar and I went 'What?' and that is how I discovered this particular video of PTX. But the first PTX Music Video I ever saw or heard was their first Grammy-winner, the Daft Punk Medley. :)

Yes, Kyle, Kirstie gets a lot of solo stuff. They always pick who they think would be best on lead. As you continue this journey you will see that. Love the reactions. Keep it up, and welcome to the Pentaholic Family. LOL.

Kyle, you are so humble. It makes watching your channel very special to me. You ARE good at reacting. I enjoy your delight when you hear something that surprises you. Plus, I learn from you. I don't know your knowledge base, but you point out sounds I would miss on my own. So, I think you are doing so well! Thanks for your wise observations. Looking forward to lots more. Thanks!
