This video has inspired me to keep growing and transforming not only my own Hallelujah interpretation, but my skills as a pianist as a whole. I played a (VERY) watered-down version of this at my brother’s funeral, nearly 10 years ago…my skills have improved a lot since then, and yet, that version, bare-bones as it was, remains so important to me. Thank you, Kyle, for reminding us always that we can continue to get better while staying true to the emotion that comes with being a pianist. 3:32 onwards is completely mental! 😂

honestly. I loved this song ever since I was a kid. I wanted to hear it played on piano, to see what it would sound like.. and oh holy.. you added so much emotion, and different elements, and harmonies into this song.. it almost sounded like a choir would be singing it with their souls poured into it.. it truly gave me goosebumps towards the end.. and I could feel a tear form in my eyes.. absolutely OUTSTANDING I keep finding myself coming back to this. ❤

Now I’ve heard there was a secret chord That David played, and it pleased the Lord But you don’t really care for music, do you? It goes like this The fourth, the fifth The minor fall, the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah Hallelujah (x4) Your faith was strong but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you She tied you To a kitchen chair She broke your throne, and she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah Hallelujah (x4) You say I took the name in vain I don’t even know the name But if I did, well really, what’s it to you? There’s a blaze of light In every word It doesn’t matter which you heard The holy or the broken Hallelujah Hallelujah (x4) I did my best, it wasn’t much I couldn’t feel, so I tried to touch I’ve told the truth, I didn’t come to fool you And even though It all went wrong I’ll stand before the Lord of Song With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah…

There seem to be dichotomous interpretations of this song. Some renditions are subtle and introverted. Others are powerful and outward. Neither is right or wrong, and I've heard excellent versions of both interpretations. This version is unique in balancing and blending the two interpretations seamlessly.

***** Not even close, MAYBE if someone hates doing it, and I mean really hates it. I picked up piano hearing my father and older sister play, figured it out, and within a couple years, my ears became "tuned" to the point that I could play whatever I heard. I currently know over 140 songs without sheet music in the back of my head. As much as I loved being able to play whatever I wanted, I missed the challenge, so I picked up guitar, and started cruising right along. My point is, that if you play an instrument because you honestly enjoy it, it will take you far less than 10,000 hours. It's for this reason I don't agree with the whole "music lessons" thing most of the time, because a kid forced to take lessons, feels it's work, and I've seen many times, when they get older and are no longer forced, they either hate it, or just play because they can, not because it is something they honestly enjoy. So when you find the instrument you love, and start playing, chances are, you'll see what I mean.

Ha ha bro, I've played at events as well, but in a way, you are right. Everyone is different :-)

Jacob Schweitzer Tbh im taking lessons right now for piano but thats honestly mainly to get more skilled in it. I love playing and try to find complicated pieces to play but lots of times theyre above my level (ive only been playing a little over 6 years) like if i could find the sheet music for this to play i'd be in heaven. But i'm pretty sure he arranges things himself. For me though if i'm a little below the level of a song i REALLY want to play, I'll play it then end up going up a level because i got pretty good at said song. I did that with moonlight sonata.

Without a doubt, this is the best version of Hallelujah I've ever heard! I say this because in none of the other versions did I hear for 3 years (maybe more) the same song without ever getting bored. This is not just Hallelujah, the fact is that I never get sick of listening to any of your songs. The sound power that is already characteristic of this version, added with the powerful sound of your piano, form a wonderful song. Thank you for this experience! (I apologize for the probable errors of English, I'm Brazilian. ;)
