Banger. Also fun fact, the YM2203 version was never optimized for the chip. Instead, they just cut out all the notes that were playing on Channels 4-6 and the Rhythm PCMs so at points it’s complete silence or just missing parts of the rhythm. The PC-98 only had that version.

That is really interesting to hear. Maybe they were rushing to release the game that they don't have time to optimize the music... Makes me want to do my own YM2203 cover of the song...

My boy Yuzo Koshiro, before Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune. I've never listened to a lot of PC-88/98 stuff, but this is otherworldy; right up my alley, musically.

The whines of the early Japanese premium gaming computers are something that really gives you that adrenaline boost. By the way, anyone know where I can learn more about synthesized audio and magnetic interface with more analog devices, like electric record players? Recently, one came into my possession, and my curiosity has been piqued upon the subject for a while

How do you split it up by voice? AIUI the SSM voices on the YM2608 are all combined on a single ANALOG OUT pin, and the FM/ADPCM/Rhythm voices are summed into two (left and right speaker) channels before streaming to the DAC.

This was made with an emulated YM2602 chip, or more specifically, vgmplay :) Using emulators, we are free to solo out channels even though the chip doesn't have a separate output pin for that channel.

Sounds like Eurobeat.

It's /very/ Euro.

@@FellshardYT Now that I think of it it could also be italo-disco, maybe?

@@KYLXBN I won't be able to pin it down much further, I just know it sounds a ton like European tracker music from that era, for sure.
