I will be really pleasantly surprised if this actually makes it out of development into a well-balanced game. It's absolutely gorgeous, but it feels very much like a passion project where devs keep adding instead of editing or considering, you know, gameplay. It has vast grand generational ideas, but basically barely built the tutorial stages in three years. I'd love to be wrong, but I'm not holding my breath, especially CONSIDERING the lineage it comes from.
@AnthyLoneExoria2 жыл бұрын
You DON'T want to build tutorials too early. They'd need to keep changing it but yeah. I get you.
@mmybickers2 жыл бұрын
@@AnthyLoneExoria I get that, too, but I don't even necessarily mean the specific tutorial dialogue so much as the really basic core mechanics... it doesn't look like they're remotely changing/editing/refining that at ALL, just piling more and more grand notions on top. Star ratings on every item! Ten thousand million NPCs who are all supposed to be romanceable! And then we’re totally going to have generations playable you guys! (Look up the absolute BATSHIT marriage system if you want to boggle at designer “this is a cool idea, who cares about gameplay?” excess. Not to mention the completely user-unfriendly UI.) Not even having balanced crop (tilling/planting/watering) mechanics at this point in development, when SO many other HM/SV clones already exist, is worrying, especially since they're selling $10+ alpha access already. It's a nice dream, but their reluctance to do any of that constant changing is exactly why I'm so skeptical. You gotta kill those darlings sometimes, and this team does NOT seem willing to do any editing.

I don't tend to play FPS, racing, or fighting games, but I do know that the scope of rpg/action/adventure games seems to have really narrowed down to be "massive open world games with a tonne of check-list collectibles and passably good/repetitive combat".
