Indie and AA games is where it is at. Rarely AAA peak my interest. Now days all I see copy paste and reskin in most AAA games. Just high budget, nice visual but beyond that most AAA ganes are just broken or repetitive. Cyberpunk2077, watch dogs, any ea sports games, most need for speed games. Ubisoft titles. CoD, battlefield. Hardly nothing new if they have something new is most likely a gimmick around it.

If your gonna keep playing this, remember that you should not place units directly where the vikings will land. The ships when crashing onto a tile do a huge knockback effect which can make your units fall and not be able to fight back. Its a quick way to lose a whole squad.

Unless if the squad has the "Sure-Footed" Trait (A large tree in their banner), which grants them very high immunity to knockback. Ships don't make them fall, even fromBrute strikes or the Warhammer item if you use it on your own squad.

@@vantablacc3264 For spearmen, that matters a lot. The models being knocked back have to get up and into position again, which can cost you a few models. Shields might not keep their facing.

I’m so happy he finally got to this! I’ve been playing this game for years now. It’s honestly super polished and underrated! You’ll get hooked, just try it :D Note for new players: N E V E R place your units on the same tile as the attacking boat, it knocks your units out of formation. Which is especially terrifying for your pike bois. Also, Elite archers are OP if you try to attack all boats from the side.

I like the commanders that have “double unit” counts for my archers. It just rains death on them. Most boats don’t make it to shore with any enemy.

I love this game. One guy developed it, and he is doing a fantastic job on procedurally generated content. I think I bought it on three different platforms.

I'd like to see a fantasy DLC for this game with little wizards chucking lightning bolts; clerics slowly auto-replenishing units they're grouped with; and fantasy creature events like a little dragon head popping out of a cave to burn a viking boat, sea monster swimming by, undead popping up out of a graveyard to attack everyone, and a valkyrie coming down to collect dead commanders (and saving them for a future run as an option).

You can actually use archers quite effectivelly against shielded enemies if you shoot them from the side so that they fall off the boat

There's a commander feat that increases knockback and guarantees that invaders will be knocked off the boat. Otherwise there's a chance they will stand up and hold, especially shield blokes.

Splatt: Pikemen are really good at holding positions but they're terrible if they have to move. Also Splatt: Needlessly moves pikemen into enemy lines.

I didn't remember how fluid the troop movements were, it's engaging and the flexibility you need to respond to different angle of attacks and type of assailants makes great use of it. Gotta bump it upward on my list of games to try. Btw, this list is getting longer by the day, thanks to you Splatt', thanks for shining light on all those games and sending my boredom into oblivion.

I’ve sunk so many hours into this “basic, no frills” game. It’s quite enjoyable in its straight to the point RTS style. Just when you think you’ve got it figured out, one or two bad decisions can absolutely wreck your playthrough. The animations, movements, color palate, music, replayability, difficulty scaling, and rng are just top notch. Would I say 10/10? No game is perfect, but this is pretty darn close. If they ported it to tablets/phones, they’d surely see a lot of coins. It’s easy to set down between islands, but you don’t want to. Just try it out. It’s a lot of fun.

I remember demanding of my parents to go to The Nut Tree in the 80s. To this day, I can’t remember why I was so enthralled with the place 😂 I have a cousin named Birgit. She pronounces her name “Beer-Gut” and she emphasizes the pronunciation just like that. 😂

The most hardest unit to destroy Is the big guy holding the crossbow, the only way for your units to dodge the crossbow is hide in walls and houses, the good thing is most of the viking big guys don't aim for your houses, when they see your units they mostly attack them instead of burning the houses, for my opinion the small dudes mostly Aim for the houses

Was playing this game a lot a few weeks ago, and it is pretty damn good! :D There aren't many games that have successfully encouraged me to play a lot of save games, but this is definitely one of them. P.S. Watch out for Giant Archers in the late game, the only unit that causes genuine panic.
